A few weeks ago, my beloved cat started to die. I knew it was coming because I'd had her for 21 years, and over the past year, she had lost over half her body weight. She slept all the time, and then stopped eating hard food. I switched her to soft. Then she stopped eating altogether on a Saturday. After observing her for a day, and sitting up with her all night on Sunday, I decided that she might need to be put to sleep. I cringe just remembering that moment. She hated anything having to do with riding in a car, so I tried the ONE place in SLC that does mobile euthanasia. They were booked up and said they could schedule me for next week. So I started calling around to hospitals near my home. Brickyard was the fourth place I called. They said they could fit me in, while every other place I called couldn't. Brickyard also had a fairly reasonable price, around $100, which wasn't more than any of the other places I called. I had never been to Brickyard, so I didn't know what to expect. We took Kitty in, and they ushered us straight into a room. The vet tech did a quick analysis of her state, then the vet came in and did the same. He asked questions, and determined that she was indeed dying, and there wasn't much else to do unless I wanted to wait. It would probably happen naturally in a few days. Frankly, I felt that I'd waited too long already and my cat was suffering because of my selfishness. They provided us with numerous options, from the least costly to some deluxe stuff. I opted for a more expensive option because I felt that I wanted Kitty's ashes back so we could bury them in the back yard with a little kitty tombstone. After picking out everything and paying for it all, they got everything ready. We stayed with her the whole time. They were gentle with Kitty, sympathetic, and seemed to care. I have to say, what was one of the worst days of my entire life could have been even harder to bear if I hadn't taken Kitty to Brickyard.I even got a card a few days later from them, with the signatures of the people who helped me that day.
