Dr. Belman and staff have been taking care of my dogs for over 12 years now. If you want to go to a veterinary clinic where it eventually feels like you're a part of a family, this is the place. Even though it isn't super fancy, I guarantee that Dr. Belman knows his stuff and you will receive the best of care. Over the years I have been to Sugarhouse vet, university vet, avenues vet, cottonwood animal hospital and they are all great but not in my area. Also, I am a tad obsessive when it comes to my mutts. Recently my youngest dog started having seizures. Dr. Belman scheduled me an appointment to go over emergency protocol because I was so upset. After 10 days of being on keppra alone she had another one. It was a Sunday so I called the office to leave a message about setting up an appointment for monday morning. Within minutes Dr. Belman had called me back. He told me what to do next and what we would do to get her seizures under control, which is exactly what I needed to hear. If I could give this vet zero stars I would. The pictures are misleading.. it’s in a bad part of town and the facility is very rundown and gross. They totally overcharged me, especially considering the vet spent less than five minutes with me both of the times I came in. He completely overlooked the severity of my kitty’s illness. Didn’t take the time to understand what was wrong or give me a thoughtful diagnosis or treatment plan, he just chalked his symptoms up to stress, gave him a shot and sent us on our way. After my kitty failed to get any better I decided to take him elsewhere. The new vet was completely appalled when I told him about the treatment I received at Pet Stop and he also said he would have never given my cat the shot that they gave him at Pet Stop. Gets you in super quick, was definitely over priced for the visit, I knew all the things he was telling me and he couldn't do much but try and sell me products I already used knowing it wouldn't work with dog lice. He just kept pushing it, which was rather annoying and made him seem unprofessional.. I came to a vet for a different answer than google and common knowledge, surely wish I took her to a different vet that doesn't act like I'm not educated. 20 dollars for him to tell me an egg, was an egg and a scab was a scab like woow I knew that without using a microscope. I understand if there may not be much to do, but idk consider telling me that before bringing her in? instead of taking a college students money and racking up the bill with pointless things knowing I didn't have much money to spend. I ended up going home and spending over 6 hours shaving my dogs bald to pick eggs and lice out of both of my dogs and on top I had paid over a 100 dollars for a pointless vet visit. High quality service and very reasonably priced! Woke up this morning to a cat with an injured paw that clearly needed to be checked out. Pet Stop was able to squeeze us in immediately, and got us all sorted out in half the time and with half the bill I expected! I was thrilled (my cat with the now shaved paw, less so). So happy I found a Vet close to me with great care and affordable prices! I love supporting West side businesses and wish I had known about them many years ago. I went in for my cat who had an abscess and they were accommodating with me coming in almost at closing. The next time I brought my dog, and bought the pet plan. I can get a full year of care AND her teeth cleaned, for LESS than it would cost at other Vet's just to clean her teeth. When my mom passed away, I inherited her dog, Lucy. Lucy has been depressed and lethargic ever since (I think she hates me). So I took her to Pet Stop. Dr. Belman was very helpful and informative, and he was always careful to let me know about the costs of different types of tests and treatments...so I could make informed choices. It turns out Lucy wasn't depressed, and she doesn't hate me! She just has some kinda messed-up hormone thing going on. So now, Lucy is on some really great dope, and in only a week, she is so much more energetic and happy. Today, she wagged her tail for the first time in months. I've written a review for this vet but it is gone now? The vet is not nice, doesn't know what animal he's seeing when he walks through the door, doesn't have any advice for preventing cavities in a cat, and gives little to no information when he sends you home with a post-surgery cat. Read Less

I came to Pet Stop for the first time about 4 years ago, when my sweet cat was extremely sick. I had previously gone to Avenues Pet Clinic, but decided to leave them after they made me feel guilty and cheap for asking questions about the cost of expensive diagnostic tests compared to the likelihood of her survival. A friend referred me to Dr. Belman, warning me that his bedside manor was direct.Dr. Belman was extremely forthright with me, giving me the unfiltered truth about my cat's health and her prognosis. When facing such a serious decision, I appreciated his direct approach and would never trade his blunt, honest advice for the sweet talk and false hopes that would have come with a "better" bedside manner.When we had exhausted our options and it was time to put my cat down, Dr. Belman was warm and understanding without being excessively sweet, which was exactly what I needed. In the years since, I've taken all of my pets to Pet Stop and have been nothing but pleased. They are friendly, relaxed and very transparent about costs. Dr. Belman remembers my pets' names and histories without even looking at their charts, and it is obvious that he genuinely cares about them. Thank you Pet Stop for seeing Dusty today, we normally use Midvalley Animal Clinic in WVC/West Jordan but opted to try a very close and convenient smaller clinic as used & recommended by our neighbor/friend Anne, glad we did.  We did call Midvalley but they were booked up so scheduled a 2:30 appointment easily with no hassle. When we call Midvalley, it's an instant greeting & please hold, not a question, but a statement with no ability to respond.  Sometimes they are so busy it's hard to get through or you get the voicemail. My boyfriend dropped off Dusty for a tooth extraction due to a canine abscess. We was ready at 5:15 although when I called earlier he was done & recovering:)The staff is friendly & professional...my prior visit had been to pick up my neighbors cat MoMo who had a urinary tract infection & same experience. I think we will bring our other cat and 2 dogs here too. Just blocks away, close to Pat' s work and affordable. No cons detected so far. Thanks for your service today. I'll be honest. I can't say I agree with the recent reviews that I see for Pet Stop and Dr. Belmon. I've been taking my puppy here for about 9 months, and the 4 times I went in, 2 sets of vaccines, spay, and spay follow up. I liked the staff, the price was fair and Dr Belmon seemed like a good vet to me. I also didn't get the same pressure that some other vets put on you to spend a whole bunch of money on expensive, procedures that may or may not be necessary(the first vet I took my dog to wanted to put on 3k worth of braces......for a dog)  Even after the surgery where she was spayed my dog tugs at her leash to get in the door. She loves the staff and Dr. Belmon. With that said i'm not a touchy feely kinda guy, I don't think that my dog is a person, I don't make my own dog food, and I despise the term "fur baby" If that's how you feel about pets, maybe this is the wrong place, but if you want a competent vet, who doesn't charge an arm and a leg for treatment, you can't go wrong with Pet Stop. Pet Stop Veterinary Clinic is the only place that I take my pets. My family has been going there for years--we have taken four cats there over the years, and continue to bring back the two that we currently own. The receptionist is always super friendly, we connect well, and are able to have fun conversations. She also connects with my kitties. She will look into their cat-carriers, talk to them, and pet them. My cats have never been too afraid there because they understand that she is a friendly person.The service is always great. The receptionist sets a friendly atmosphere from the moment I walk in. I also have the bad habit of being a walk-in rather than making appointments, and there never seems to be a problem. When the veterinarian himself is busy, the receptionist always helps me out right away. Every time I have been there, there is always at least one other patient and owner there--so I know I'm not the only one who goes to this smaller clinic. I've also watched many of the videos on their website, and I have seen how many pets they are taking care of at one time. The veterinarian himself seems to be able to look at my cats, describe everything he sees, and explain it clearly to me; he seems to know what he is doing. I also love that he gives me a list of options. For example, today I brought my cat Kuma in (as a walk-in), and the veterinarian was able to see my cat within 15 minutes. My poor cat was having some problems, and the vet looked her over, told me what the problem might be, listed the options of treatment, and them listed them again with the approximate cost. I then asked him what he thought the best option was, and he told me and explained why. I was nervous that with all the shots that my kitty needed, that the cost would be over $200, but it wasn't! Now, I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I take my pets there when I know I need to, but it was a great price. I paid just over $100. Because of that, I made another appointment for my other kitty Lulu for tomorrow to get her shots updates. Together, for both cats, the cost will still be under $200. I love that I know that I can call the vet, or just walk in, and they will always take care of my cats. Read Less

Veterinary clinics are in an optimal position to take advantage of a person, humans hold on so tight to the leash of life we will do whatever we can to take care of our animals. Dr. Belman has a talent for assessing and diagnosing, he will give you options and honest answers regarding treatment of your pet and he won't make you spend money unnecessarily. He will research alternative, holistic, and the newest treatments available to ensure your pet is getting the best treatment possible. If your looking for a vet who will give you the warm fuzzies by baby talking to your dog about its new hair style as your bill grows unnecessarily, this will not be the place for you...but if you want the Dr. House of the veterinary world you have found it! Dr. Belman has proven his skills at assessing my pets health issues and providing appropriate care while keeping prices reasonable. He explains things to you really fast and never lets you get a word in edge-wise. When he is explaining something to you and you interrupt him to ask a question, he just keeps on talking without even acknowledging that you had a question. If you do get a question in, he hardly lets you finish what you were saying in the first place. His demeanor is very abrasive and his personality is dry. He really seems like he couldn't care less about you as an owner. He makes me feel VERY uncomfortable.On the plus side, they always give me an estimate on the cost of care. I've also been able to call them during an emergency and they get my animals in right away (during normal business hours) without charging me an extra fee. The reception staff is always very friendly and the facilities, though small, are always clean.All in all, I am now on the hunt for a new vet. I can't imagine that any other vet will be too much more expensive than Pet Stop however I just want to find a place that I don't dread taking my animals to because I always feel so uncomfortable when I go there. I also know that the day will come when I have to take my animals to him to be put down and I absolutely DO NOT want to go through something like that with someone who has the worst bedside manner I've ever experienced. I took my dog Abby here to have her yearly work-up including shots, teeth, glands and other various things done. Very affordable! Dr. Belman charged way less than my last vet. I was quite suprised. I just moved here not to long ago and was quite impressed with the prices and care that I was given. The staff was very friendly and assured me that everything was going to be fine. I didnt get that ""pushy"" feeling that I do at other bigger vet clinics, more friendly and personal. My other pets are sure to come here also again and again. Read Less

I think my vet has a note in my dogs' files about how crazy I am.  Yup, I'm one of "those people".  Anyway, I love that I can take my furry buddys to a place that feels like an extension of home. Dr. Bellman is very good about explaining things to me, because I AM one of "those people" and he also does a good job of encouraging me to not be lazy and walk my dogs. I went to this Clinic because it is only a few buidlings away from my apartment. The first time I took my Dachshund I wasn't particularly impressed with the vet but nothing too out of the norm. Recently I brought my new dachshund puppy there to get her first set of shots. He examined her, stating some things, "Oh a dachshund, her weight is good her eyes look good, her ears are clean" Then he states, "The hair on her ears is kind of long that's not something you usually see but it's okay I guess." You guess? I kept my mouth closed but HELLO SHE'S A LONG HAIRED DACHSHUND SHE'S SUPPOSE TO HAVE LONG HAIR ON HER EARS. I was a little shocked that a vet wouldn't know that there are short haired dachshunds, long haired dachshund and even wire haired dachshunds. I mean, this isn't a rare breed or anything. Well then, after he just finished telling me about how dachshunds are prone to back injury, he went to put her down on the ground and dropped her right on her head. Now it wasn't a huge fall 6inches probably but still. Good enough to make a loud clunk when her head hit the floor. I told a friend of mine who was once a Vet Tech. and his response, "Find a new Vet. Now."3/29/2012I revised my rating and gave it an extra star. I took my dog back to update her on her shots. She was terrified when she was there. More so than at her other vet (brookside animal hospital) I was much happier with this visit than the first visit. Affordable, and for our family, very very convenient. Went for the first time today to have them look at my dog who was diagnosed with allergies and a bad skin infection. The veterinarian took great care of her. Dr Diane took her time educating us about her diagnosis and treatment and showed knowledge and concern. Very different from our previous vet who seems to need to work on his owner skills. However, after returning there a few more times I discovered that Dr. Diane was only subbing and Dr. Belnap is the regular vet. Not a good thing. He lacks owner skills and proceeded to charge me for 2 office visits even though he looked at both dogs at the same time in the same amount of time. $267 for 15 minutes? Please! Office staff is different every time we go and more importantly, my dog's skin is looking worse after 2 years in his care. Time to find a new vet! Read Less
