I brought my new best friend in to get a routine exam since I had no real information on her history. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated like friends. My entire family has been going to Dr. Peterson since before I was born. We’ve had several large breed dogs live to 16 or 17, and a cat live to 23, so clearly they’re doing something right. They’ve always been helpful, and willing to work on that really tough line between “what is best for the pet, and what can these people actually afford”, and they’re always very patient with the animals, when they are stressed or anxious. I saw every vet from Holladay to Farmington before I finally discovered the best was right in my neighborhood. These guys are wonderful. One of our little dogs has a collapsed trachea. We were ripped off by so many places before finding a kind, honest vet who won't push a variety of unnecessary treatments. And he really seems to care about the animals. We have really struggled finding a good veterinarian in SLC. We have tried 5 different vets over the period of 4 years. I am so glad that we chose to try Town and Country! We have two dogs--a calm old lab and a one year old mutt who is terrified of strangers. Dr. Peterson handled her so well and was very gentle and loving. The staff was very helpful and kind to me and our terrified little pup. The pricing was very comparable to other vets in the area--if not better. My dog has been seen at Town & Country for the past year and I recently had him fixed there and wanted to post about the positive experience. I debated between cheaper clinics and his vet, and am 100% satisfied with my decision. My dog was back to himself the following day, he didn't seem to realize anything had been done to him. Outside of the surgery, the entire staff has been helpful since day one. I have stopped in for quick questions and always leave feeling more informed. I brought my cat in for a checkup today and was super happy with the decision I made to come here. Being newer to Utah, I had not yet found a vet for my cat. I just had a few questions about his diet and obsession with licking. We had Doctor Peterson and he was fantastic. Everyone here was really friendly and truly seemed to care! It was a pleasant visit. The facilities are outdated, but you will be hard pressed to find people who love animals more than this team. They greet our pets by name when we come through the door. We love Town & Country. We have been taking our little pug to them since his first vet visit. They are very professional & knowledgeable.Dr. Peterson and his staff are dog lovers and you know you can trust them with your pets. Our dog actually is happy to walk through the doors, they immediately want to hold him and when you may have to leave your dog for surgery, you can be comforted knowing they are in good hands. I can't come up with enough positive comments to describe my experiences with Town & Country. Dr. Peterson, Heather, and Teri are all awesome. They treat you with respect, get to know you and your pet on a personal level, provide awesome treatment - all at a very fair and reasonable prices. Dr. Peterson has a daft touch when it comes to communicating with pet owners and always tries to translate the medical speak into what I can understand. Dr. Peterson has also gone out of his way (more than once) to help with a couple of urgent situations. He even did a surgery after hours and met me on his day off to pick up my dog. I took my dog here for her annual checkup and to get her vaccines done and Dr. Peterson is really great. Our little fur kid is very anxious and Dr. Peterson and his staff really took the time to get to know her and make her feel as comfortable as possible during her exam. They also were very honest about what she needed and didn't need since we came from a part of the country where concerns for your dog's health can be very different. Not only is the staff highly knowledgeable and always willing to allow me to pick their brains regarding diet/exercise etc... but I really appreciate how gentle and soft spoken they are when examining my pets... Wow a real veterinarian! I brought my dog Coco in because his ears were swollen, flaming, and angry for a few weeks and it was not getting better despite regular ear cleaning. Dr. Peterson performed all of the history and physical exam (checking the ears, taking cultures, etc.) inside the patient room. And he did all these procedures in front of me instead of taking my dogs away to the back like many of my previous vets. Furthermore, I was impressed that he did all the procedures himself!Instead of simply throwing antibiotics at Coco, like many previous vets, he took a good history and a focused physical exam before making his diagnosis. His opinion was that with Coco's long history of allergies, he was probably having another allergic event and it was not an infection. It's coming to end of the week and Coco is doing great. He is currently taking Zymox and Apoquel (new med for dogs with chronic allergies) and the swelling in his ear has come down and he has stopped biting his paws and scratching his belly. Coco is happy, going on hikes, and eating well.I also brought my dog #2 Dexter in to see the vet because he started scratching his ears. Dr. Peterson looked in his ears with an otoscope and found him to be disease free. And guess what? He didn't charge me for Dexter's visit, how generous is that! These are my first impressions of my one visit to Dr. Peterson's clinic. I am so relieved to finally have met a wonderful vet and really happy that my dogs have a great doctor!One last thing: Dr. Peterson came in and took some photos of my dogs. Thank you So Much!!! Dr Peterson saved our dog Aspen life. After seeing two other vets 6 visits with our little weener dog with neck pain, along with 4 prescriptions. Final straw was last Friday, our dog went form being very slow in in pain to not moving and screaming in pain all the way to the vet and in the vet. Our vet called Dr Peterson in Salt Lake and said to bring her down immediately. We got down there he did a thorough neurological exam and had us follow him to the U of U to do a MRI. I was amazed as was th MRI tech that he give the animals the exact amount of sedation for the whole 45 min MRI. They found a herniated disc that was really bad to a point of possibly paralyzing if gone untreated. He had us meet him Sat the next day for her to have surgery on her cervical spine. We were a wreck literally at this point. He called us a couple hours later to tell us she is fine and it went good. :) He then called us that evening to assure us she is doing good and give us a update. We met him Sun afternoon and our dog went from screaming and immobile to so excited and running around. I have to add that our dog only stays by us but when we picked her up she followed him in the hospital , I feel she saw his face last when she went into surgery and woke up out of that pain to his face and he is her buddy now too. I have been going to Town & Country Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. My dogs have always received the best treatment. They have the greatest veterinarian anywhere, Dr. Peterson. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. My dog loves to go there. He gets so excited to see his friends he doesn't even mind getting a shot or whatever. Everyone that works there are animal lovers, you can tell. Two of my dogs have passed away during those years and what I remember most was how compassionate and loving the people at Town & Country are.
