We have visited here for vaccination for our dog Mocca, a toy poodle. Their pricing is very reasonable. I also did dental cleaning and extraction. They found deceased tooth while cleaning and had to extract 4 tooth. They called me and my wife and explained in detail why and how the extraction should be done. I had a really positive experience here with my little dog, Mavi. I recently switched his records over to University from Sugarhouse Clinic (who is just so ridiculously overpriced among other things). University obtained my records from the old vet with no problem. When I took my dog in for his appointment, the tech/nurse(?) Shane was just absolutely wonderful with my dog. Really sweet to him and treated him well. The vet (whose name escapes me) was kind and thorough, and answered my questions. They were very gentle with my dog both in terms of how they handled him and in the way in which they spoke to him. He needed a urine sample and they went to the effort of taking him outside to urinate and catching it as opposed to inserting a needle (which is, of course, painful to the dog). I really appreciated that. When they took my dog back to the back area to administer vaccines and do more thorough exams, I could still hear them through the door and I was so impressed by what I heard: they talked to him gently, called him by his name, talked to him in soothing tones, and were very kind to him. It's a big deal to me that they were not only kind to my dog to my face, but also when there was no one around to see it. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the U Vet Clinic. The staff and doctors are super nice, and you can tell they genuinely care about the well being of your pets. My 5 year old German Shepherd is typically very shy, but the staff at the U handles him so well and makes him feel right at home. You know it's a good vet when your dog can't wait to get through the doors. The staff is always excited to see my pets and are kind and friendly. Dr. McIlvenna is incredibly knowledgeable and really takes her time with the animals. Dr. Jermain is also good. It is warm and inviting inside. I have two kitties (Bandit and Sir) who are beginning to age, and when I found a lump on Bandit at the beginning of the summer, they got us in to see a vet quickly. Bandit loved the tech who came in before the vet - and he very seldom likes men! Their staff put both me and my dear pet at ease, and his Dr. was both informative and encouraging. A few weeks later, I found a lump on Sir and was able to also get him in quickly, checked out, and surgery scheduled for him. After both visits and the surgery I received follow up calls from their vets to see how things were going, keep me informed about test results, etc...they also helped me get set up with a care credit card to help me pay for the procedure without causing extra stress as it is interest free for 6 months after a charge. I even received a call recently informing me that Bandit may be due for a booster vaccine. I really feel like they care about my furry friends AND me, and I would definitely recommend them! Our vet Heather was treating our furbaby for cancer and I was told I didnt have faith in my vet which was very untrue. I was let go with my baby in the middle of treatment due to my phone number being changed without my knowledge and to some unknown number I was upset it wasn't the first time things had been changed. But to stop communication and when by fur baby so sick I was upset and I have been going here since they had opened so to be told I could no longer bring my babies there and caused me to not be able to start over with everything for my baby with cancer I didn't have another several hundred dollars and they knew this so now my baby didn't get the best chance of the rest of his life and when I asked to talk to the owner the office manager responded she was as high up as I could go. I feel that unfair for the owner I have sent several ppl to bring their babies here. I am grateful to share I have a great vet and my Fur baby is no longer scared of the vet office and is getting amazing training. But for my baby that has cancer he has been cheated on the chance to see how much longer he could be with his family. All to this. Read Less

This vet is amazing! I took my baby Bobby here for a second opinion ultrasound because the Vet I dealt with at AVC was an absolute joke. Dr.Mcllvenna was so good to my cat and answered my ten thousand questions and was so kind. Then today I had an extremely unusual emergency, they were booked but told me to bring her in as in in-patient since she absolutely had to be seen today. I had Dr. Howard and he was so kind, he explained everything to me clearly and was just such a sweet heart! The tech I always have is so sweet too and they all love my cat, it makes me feel right at home having such a kind staff take care of my girl and they love her as much as I do which is what I really look for in a vet office. I have lived all over the western United States and even spent four years living in India. When we travel, we always take our Lhasa Apso with us. This may be one of the most comprehensive and wonderful veterinary clinics we have ever been to. The doctors are tremendous, all of them, and I always feel relaxed when talking to them. I recently brought my terrier mix in for a follow-up visit after he was treated for an ear infection. This team goes above and beyond to ensure client needs are met and the doctors are very knowledgeable and experienced. I brought my dog in during an emergency once after she was attacked by some neighborhood dogs and they were concerned for my well-being as well as my dog's. This is the BEST vet clinic! Dogs love going here because the staff are great with animals, the pets get lots of attention and treats, and the vets are amazingly skilled. I feel that my pets receive the best care possible here. The vets are honest about what the pets need and do their best to provide that. For instance, in the past, I've taken my dogs to vets where they don't even look at their teeth and tell me I need to do a $400+ cleaning with anesthesia (which is risky at my dogs' age). Dr. Bybee carefully inspected my boys' mouths and said that he would not recommend that cleaning, saying that they had great teeth for their ages and did not need that sort of stress. He's been similarly honest, thoughtful, and informed about vaccinations, following current AAHA recommendations (which recommends rabies vaccines every 3 years for senior dogs instead of every year). His honestly has saved me a lot of money and my pups a lot of extra stress. They take care of the pet owners too. Every time I have a question, Dr. Bybee or Dr. Walton takes the time to answer them thoughtfully. I've gone for free appointments where they still consulted with me for 30 minutes, answering everything I threw at them. I currently have a pup that is very old and in the process of dying. Dr. Bybee has done a great job helping me get through the process and I even get phone calls asking how Angus is doing. My friend that had to euthanize her dog at University Vet Hospital received a hand written card with condolences the next day. This is really the most thoughtful and amazing clinic you will find! We have been going to University Vet Hospital since 2009. Having 2 big dogs with lots of energy and the need to chew foreign objects caused us to make multiple visits in the past. We had the pleasure of working with 4 of the doctors over the past 6 years and probably have met all the technicians and the front desk staff. All we can say is that they are extremely professional, pleasant, efficient and they truly care for the well being of your pets. You always get a rough estimate of medical costs during your visit and you have the option to opt out of certain treatments, etc. if you wish. A reviewer left negative feedback for the UVH because they sell "Puppy Packages", etc. Yes, of course they do. As a medical practice catered to animals, they offer preventive care. None of the providers or the technicians force you to buy anything. They provide patient education and leave the decision to you. Overall, our experiences have been exemplary. Thank you! Read Less
