I have had great experiences with SVVH. For several years I have taken my two small dogs to this vet for routine visits/vaccinations, dental services, emergency care and boarding. I have always had great care by all the staff and doctors. They always answer questions and often call me after appts. to check on my dogs. Recently, Dr. Lee has been really helpful addressing high blood pressure issues for my poodle. Grateful they are close to home and take good care of my dogs.Read Less

This happened a bit ago, but I think it's important people know how incompetent the vets here are. I took in a puppy I had just gotten the day before because she refused to eat and was not going to the bathroom. When I took her in we waited for a few minutes and then spoke with a male vet. He looked her over a little and then said she was clearly constipated (duh) and gave her an enema. Due to the problem with her not eating, he took X-Rays, blood work, etc which totaled about $200. He was very blunt and told me my puppy would live a miserable life because of a "severe brain abnormality" and I would be wise to end her suffering and put her down for even more money. I was sobbing, heartbroken and he continued to tell me to keep her would be selfish and I need to think of the puppy. I asked if there was anything else I could do to save her and he said I could take her to a neurological specialist but it was likely a moot point. Couldn't refer me to one either. Well over $300 later we were basically told our dog was going to die regardless. I am incredibly happy I decided to get a second opinion and take her to Willow Creek pet center, they confirmed to me my dog was not eating due to severe constipation and also were able to tell me my dog was not the age I was told when I got her and she was taken from her mom far too early. They didn't waste my time doing a bunch of unnecessary tests and told me that there is no way my dog has a severe brain defect. She was just sick and needed a milk supplement. They have had my business ever since, and they will have it for as long as I have animals. My dog is now just over a year old and she is just fine. The vet here is insensitive, and I decided to write this after looking over a sheet of paper he wrote as to what was wrong with her and my bill. It's truly upsetting to know this place recommends to just put down perfectly healthy animals and rack up the bill with tests. I am incredibly glad that I stuck with my gut and not their "professional" diagnosis or I wouldn't have my dog today.Read Less

We usually use Southeast on an urgent care basis because their location isn't near us. Otherwise, they would be my regular vet. The staff have been overwhelmingly nice to both us and our dog, Mesa. I want to tell you about an experience when I didn't go to SVVH so you can see the contrast. I didn't go to SVVH the last time I had an urgent problem and it was a nightmare!!! At this other place in Cottonwood, we waited over two hours and were repeatedly told "because you're a walk-in, it may be a little bit because we need to see our appointments first" (though we were told to come in when we called). Okay, I understood and was fine with this....at first. After two hours of waiting, I realized this vet in Cottonwood was not about priority level, but more about how many pets they can fit in their schedule. Our dog threw up blood. That's why we called. I even brought in a sample of the bloody vomit to which they looked at and said, "Yep, that's blood. That's weird." No further testing. My husband is a doctor and I can tell you from experience, any time a doctor has so many patients that it takes them two hours from the time you arrive at their office until the time they see you, it's because they overbook their patients and it's about money, not patients. If they don't overbook their patients, urgent care does not turn in to a two-hour ordeal. They had three vets on duty. Obviously there was no priority level when it came to a dog who needed a regular check-up and a dog who is throwing up blood. We went to this other facility (not SVVH) because it was the number provided for urgent care from our regular vet and it was a Saturday. We sat at this other place (in Cottonwood, which has a great rating on line, go figure) for two hours before the vet came. I wish I had gone to SVVH in the first place. The Cottonwood vet was nice, but spent five minutes with us, gave our dog an anti-nausea, charged me for pills to coat her stomach in case it was an ulcer, sent us out to sit for 10 more minutes while we waited for pills, and then the assistant came out and said, "We don't have the pills. If she's still vomiting blood tomorrow come back for another anti-nausea injection." Ummm okay. If she's not vomiting then I get to call and ask them to refund the money I paid for the pills they don't have. That's what you can expect from that particular facility in Cottonwood. Other places may charge a bit less, or no urgent fee at all and you can wait for two hours with a staff that isn't very personable while seeing many, many pets come and go, end up with a mystery diagnosis and a charge for pills you didn't receive or you can go to SVVH, pay the urgent fee, have them do a thorough work-up, see you in a reasonable time, and actually care about your pet. By the way, you can always turn down a test you aren't comfortable with so if a vet is testing for something you don't like, by all means speak up. Don't blame them if you agreed with the test to be done. I've never quite understood the previous negative reviews for SVVH, because I've never once had a bad experience there. Some of us do want the vet to be thorough like SVVH and are willing to pay for testing and urgent fees to get the best treatment. The best vets are not always the cheapest vets or the vets with "frills." I have never had a single problem with SVVH and they have diagnosed and treated all of our pets with 100% success so far. Excellent service ! On Saturday December 12 in the morning my little puppy mini schnauzer dawned with problems urinating , immediately call a friend and he recommended me take the dog to Southeast Valley Veterinary Hospital clinic and ask for Dr. Carlos Clavijo. I am very happy with the attention we received from the team of doctors at the clinic especially Carlos who made my dog surgery and he is recovering satisfactorily. I want to say thanks to the team of doctors and nurses who participated in this process they are very professional. I recommend everyone, if you have a problem with your pet take it to this clinic and ask for the Dr Carlos he is the best. Read Less

I took my dog to Southeast after hours as she was having a hard time breathing. After checking us in the nurse said that she was going to go wake up the doctor. I don't know about you, but I don't want a half asleep doctor looking after my girl. The doctor only listened to her lungs, and immediately told me that she had kennel cough. I kept discussing her symptoms with him as I was sure she didn't have kennel cough. Several times he said things along the lines of "Oh, she has diarrhea?" "Oh, she hasn't been eating much?" Shouldn't they ask these types of questions before diagnosing your pet? After a long discussion he decided she had either kennel cough, bronchitis, or a bacterial infection and was at risk for getting pneumonia. He did nothing to determine which one and only touched her once the entire visit. He recommended I buy 5 prescriptions (in hopes one of them would take care of whatever she might have) for a total bill of $260. I refused to buy prescriptions from them and took her to Petcare Animal Hospital the next day, they actually spent time with us and discovered that she had a parasite. I debated on giving Southeast a two star rating, as they seemed like decent people (aside from being terrible vets) and didn't mess up anything on the administrative side. However, I felt that would be misleading to people deciding if they should take their pet to Southeast. I would never recommend that anyone goes to Southeast valley.Read Less

We have been to Southeast Valley Vet twice so far and had a great experience both times. The first time, our cat had an infected injury and instead of recommending expensive treatment options like other vets at different offices had in the past, they were realistic and affordable with what we came up with and he recovered fully and quickly. (I'm not sure what the vet's name was but he was male and had a slight southern-sounding accent.) The second time we went we saw a different vet (not sure of her name either but she was blonde). Our cat had digestive issues. She was very friendly, spent plenty of time with us, answered questions, and offered different treatment plans with a range of prices, but didn't pressure us into expensive options where other vet offices had. They were even willing to collect a stool sample for me but my cat wouldn't cooperate. However, I was grateful for their willingness. They are currently renovating so I'm sure their office will look great when it's done. Read Less

I LOVE this veterinary hospital. They are super nice and you can tell they love animals; they talk to them just like a pet owner would. They have always fit me into the schedule fairly quickly on a normal day and I love that they are open 24 hrs for those emergencies. Most of all, they have always been super helpful over the phone. They answer any questions they can and try to help as much as they can over the phone. I never feel unsatisfied or lost after speaking with them. I have used these guys for 5 years now and within that time my small dogs have had a handful of emergencies and I have never had a bad experience with them. One time, they even helped me decide that I did not need to come in at all but told me what to watch for so that I did not have to come in on emergency hours (and fees). I may not have come in and paid that one time but I will always use them in the future. Read Less
