Mountain View Animal Hospital has taken care of our canine family members for many years. They have my highest recommendation for care, whether medical or surgical. The veterinarians and staff are caring and competent. I work in healthcare and know they do the right things in the correct order, and answer all questions. Unfortunately, we generally outlive our pets and the end of life care they provide is compassionate and loving. For my family Mountain View will always be the first choice. When I moved to Sandy I was looking for a new vet. Mountain View came highly recommended. My first visit was great. Dr. Kirkland really listened. I love Mountain View. I don't know every vet there any more, but Kirkland, Kanda, and VanWagoner have all been wonderful over the years. They have saved many of our pets' lives, been there for routine work, and stood with us as we trusted them to send our pets over the bridge. We love VanWagoner especially. Love Mountain View. I was in emergency mode when I took my Siamese in. Lathargic, feverish, infection, cat fight. They, "MV", took a min to get to taking care of him, but I was a walk in so I completely understand why it took time. They are so busy all of the time because they are so good and in demand. An absolutely amazing hospital! My cat stayed for a little over a week for radioactive iodine therapy for her hyperthyroidism. While I was unable to visit due to the nature of the treatment, the staff was very good at keeping me feeling involved. I was updated daily on her progress, which gave me the opportunity to bring in some of her favorite food when she lost her appetite. Everyone I spoke to was very educated and well-versed in their answers to my my questions, and I couldn't be happier with my interactions with them. Every step of the way, I was given an idea of what to expect and where to go next. I will most definitely be returning with my other cats when the need arises. This place is amazing. It's the only place I trust with my fur children. They were so kind to work with me financially with a pet emergency and me not having access to my funds (because my account had fraudulent charges). Mt view is the best vet I have ever gone too. They are so caring and work so hard to make sure you and your pet are taken care of. They have a friendly staff. Just moved to town a few weeks ago and my pup got a stomach bug from a local dog park. Took him into a different vet and they made me wait almost 2 hours before I just walked out. Took him here and I was in and out in a half hour. The doc was so nice, friendly and polite and my pup loved her. She seemed to know exactly what he was experiencing and the issue by what I told her and also able to help me get him up to date on his wormers which I had spaced. They honestly were just so good with both the people and the pups and made us both feel very comfortable and a ease. Will definitely use them in the future. Read Less

By far the best animal clinic I have ever visited. I do feel I was a little over charged for a simple feline checkup and antibiotics, but I'm willing to pay that price for the service received. $800 to put stitches in a dog's ear? Nope there's no hidden reason that would make one say; that's why it was $800. It was just $800. I took a dog in with a cut on its ear that wouldn't stop bleeding. They insisted on a general anesthetic. Why? It's an ear. An appendage. If a human went into an emergency room with a cut ear they wouldn't use a general anesthesia. Especially if that person has a heart murmur and anesthesia could be dangerous. Numb the ear, hold the dog, stitch the ear. When my 15 month old human went into the emergency room to get stitches that's exactly what they did. Good enough for him. Good enough for his pet. Over reactions are good for business I guess. Won't be going here again. Read Less

Mountain View Animal Hospital is amazing! I was only in town for a short period of time from Los Angeles. I got my pug-shitzu spayed at MVAH. They did an excellent job for the surgery then I came back four times for post-op care to see how Beverly's scar was healing. Each post op visit was greeted warmly, her sutures were cleaned and wrapped each time for no additional charge but she was treated as if I was paying top dollar. From the doctors (our is Rees) to all the staff and technicians, I trust everyone at Mountain View Animal Hospital to take care of our precious dog.Thank you!!!! Read Less

Please don't waste your time here. Mountain View animal hospital, is a joke! They can't even make a simple grooming appointment. Holly the manager is not capable of running this clinic. I wonder why they can't keep appointments? They also place you on hold anywhere from 4 to 5 minutes without returning to answer any questions! Find and alternative and your pet care. We brought our puppy in to have a cut taken care of on his leg and as usual the vets are top notch. We have been going there about 9 years and been pretty satisfied. The doctor put staples in his leg to close the wound and prescribed antibiotics and Rimadyl. When we got the bill it was 79 bucks for the wound which was fine but medications were 82 bucks for 20 pills! The office manager Sally said the company that owns them charges a non negotiable dispensing fee which does not appear on the bill just medication amount. We have never paid anywhere near that for medication. Bottom line is love the Vets but the office needs an overall, this is gouging for loyal clientele carried over from The previous owner. We will have to unfortunately find a new vet due to gouging on medication. Read Less

The last few weeks have been difficult, and we have some even more difficult weeks in front of us but we'll get through it with the kindness and dedication that Dr. Conway has given us. They are knowledgeable, organized, prepared, kind, and give great care. Prior to bringing my golden retriever to Mountain View, he had been to several other groomers and the results were varying degrees of quality, but never, what I would say, great. However, each and every time we have taken him here, the grooming is the highest quality and simply top-notch. Over and over again this place exceeds my expectations.  The staff is courteous and efficient.  The vets are superb and show an incredible amount of compassion and understanding when you are making the difficult decision to let your pet cross the rainbow bridge.   My dogs always come home happy and healthy whenever they have been boarded.  At this point in time, I don't have a single negative thing to say about this place.  You can trust them with your pets! Love this place! Been coming here for 16 years and won't go anywhere else. We usually see Dr Kanda and she's excellent. This time we saw Dr Llewellyn as I couldn't get in with Dr Kanda on short notice. He was fantastic! I highly recommend them both. My fur babies are in good hands here. The turnover with their vets has left the feel at Mountain View very disorganized with no more follow up from the doctors like we used to receive. I did purchase the puppy package for my dog but can't even make an appointment because there is not enough front desk help to answer the phone. The first time I called I was put on hold so long it transferred me to their voice mail so I left a message and never got a call back. I tried again a few days later when I was immediately asked to be put on hold I said no and explained why. She didn't even respond just said I would have to hold again I said no she could take my number and give me a call back ( I feel my time is also valuable) again very rudely she said I would have to HOLD. On a Tuesday morning after a 3 day weekend, I was in desperate need to find a Vet that could check out the health of feral kittens. After making contact with a few, and finding that appointments were booked out for up to 2.5 weeks,  I contacted a friend, and she suggested that I look into Mountain View as they do walk-ins. I immediately called and was able to schedule an appointment that day.Being the mama of new babies, I was a nervous wreck about how their first vet visit was going to go. Mountain View is nice in set-up; they have a door for cats and a door for dogs, both waiting areas separated by the front desk. So though my two little kitties were terrified of the back ground dog barks, they were not in direct contact of the fear.I had a short wait in which I attempted to calm the kittens, and then was brought to a doctor-y backroom to weigh them and do a quick once over. Soon after, Doctor Kanda Hazelwood joined me to discuss the kitties.  She was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful with answering all my questions. She will forever be my kitties doctor.After we discussed the kitties, and Kanda looked them over in this room, she took them into a back-back room to administer a little vaccine, de-worming and to clip their baby claws. --About a week after the kittens were situated, I started noticing that a few weren't eating and starting to throw up. I immediately got them in for an appointment. After a lot of blood work, I was told by Kanda that they have distemper. I was a wreck and couldn't keep it together at the clinic. I went through with all of the treatments, and Kanda kept me updated on their statuses the entire time: making daily phone calls [for almost 2 weeks], and she even came in on her day off to check in on them.   I'm eternally grateful for the love and care my babies got. The staff at Mountain View went so far above and beyond to keep them in great health. --Subsequently, anytime I've stopped in (apparently bringing feral cats to full health is harder than it seems), I've had many vet techs will ask me how the kittens are - they worked with them extensively when the kitties were sick and quarantined, and I really think the staff fell in love with them, in a sense. It makes me feel extremely comfortable bringing the cats here... Dr. Kanda and the staff seriously only want the best for them,Though this clinic is a fairly long drive for me, it's one that I am happy to make when it comes to the health of the kitties. I have made this drive more times than I would have liked within the last month, but it's what the kitties needed. I've been really happy with the service that the cats received - how nicely they were treated, and how friendly the atmosphere felt. My babies will be life long patients at Mountain View. Read Less

We use Mountain View for grooming our dogs. Julie is excellent. She initially groomed our Bearded Collie and now grooms our two Coton de Tulears. She really has an eye for trimming their fir in particular. Our dogs always look gorgeous coming out. The vet we use is at their sister organization, Cottonwood Hospital, which is also excellent. I've brought our cats and dogs here for years. Even after we moved further away I will continue to make the drive to sandy because of the care my animals receive. We have boarded our dogs here for years; around $30/day. Our dogs seem to like it--at least they don't freak out when we pull in the parking lot (which can be tricky so you have to turn on 9400 South from 1300 East then make two immediate right turns).  If you plan ahead, they can groom your dog during their stay. They can also do medical procedures if needed. They sell food and supplies. Read Less

I live down in Utah County and have absolutely no problem spending the time, and fuel, to drive up to Mountain View Animal Hospital for their veterinary services. I have been less than impressed with the vets in my area, so when I was getting a new dog I did a bit of research and found that Mountain View met my criteria: able to accommodate larger breeds of dogs, moderate use of vaccinations, longer operating hours, and they have staff there at all times (nights & weekends even) for patient care. I also really appreciate that the Dr's keep up with the latest techniques and treatments. They also have boarding services that I haven't used, but judging from all the people I've seen drop off their excited furry friends while I was waiting for an appointment, I would say that it's got to be good.Read Less

My children have paws. Mountain View Animal Hospital understands this and jumped into action when I carried in my sweet Aurora. They were so careful moving her body as she was in great pain. They brought her a bed to lay on while we waited for the results. Some days later, we knew it was time to let her go. Mountain view help my husband and I help her pass with the most sincere empathy and comfort. With their help, I now have a beautiful engraved box with her ashes and paw imprint. We moved vets to Mountain View Animal Hospital for our second puppy since it was much closer to our house. We went in for all 3 of the puppy shots for our second puppy and the annual exam for our 1 year old puppy. Front desk receptionists are welcoming and directs you to wait in an exam room after getting checked in. We saw total of 3 different doctors and we were never seen on our appointment time. They would have us wait 20-30 minutes past our appointment time to get our dogs seen.One of the appointments, we brought both of our dogs in for the final round of shots and the annual exam. We waited, waited, and waited as the doctor went in and out of the exam room. A visit that could have taken 15 minutes was extended to 2 hours. Not only are the doctors very unprofessional with time, they seem very incompetent in regards to the needs of your pet. The doctor was not able to or ignorantly skipped over parts of the annual exam and did not catch an ear infection that we caught in one of our dogs a few days later. Our second puppy also got ear infection from the first dog. If the doctor took time to recognize foul smell in his ears, it could have prevented the contagion between my dogs or at least stopped the advancement of the ear infection.I really want to give businesses good reviews, but when the incompetence and unprofessionalism repeat from visits to visits, I am not convinced that their priority is us or the pets. There's always seems to be a extra 10-20min wait when i get there on time for my appointment time. I feel as if the doctors rush through the procedure and are always offering more additives to make your bills larger than it needs to be. The service is just alright. I never feel 100% satisfied. Mountain View takes great pride in treating their furry guests with the utmost care. Not only do you feel your pet will be taken care of but that they will give your pet the attention they would get at home almost to the point they don't want to come home. Every time I had a need to come to Mountain View each staff member and doctor was thorough and caring and attentive to every question and need we had about our pet(s). My experience at Mountain View has not been very good. I kept taking my pets there for quite sometime because they had their records. I finally have given up & moved to another vet hospital. First of all the wait time is ridiculous. The upfront staff is awful. Many times that I went in for an appointment I was completely ignored by the staff who were talking & laughing. I have seen different vets there with mixed experiences. The prices are very high so I expect them to really take their time. They were usually rushed. Occasionally a vet assistant would come to show me something & I would end up waiting for them for a long time as well. I get why they keep these people in the back as they have very poor communication skills & act as if you are bothering them. I finally just started asking for the head tech, but she is so rude. I am sorry to say I do not recommend going here. Read Less

I can't believe that there are any reviews that are not 5 stars. This is simply the best of the best. Dr. Kanda and Mt. View is the only Vet I will trust with my pets. They have fantastic service and the staff is great. I have been going to them for about 9 years and thank God for the day I found them. I have reccomended them to friends and family and not one has had a problem of any kind and all have thanked me for the reccomendation. I just can't say enough good about them. Our animal had his shots elsewhere and could not walk well after injected in his hind quarter instead of his usual injection site. Our friend told us about Dr. Kanda, we made an appointment. I can't say she was actually bad, because I had one experience with her. I thought it neglectful to use this treatment plan for our pet. We ended up buying so many unnecessary things. We bought stairs a crate, gave him pills with belladonna in them. There is more to it and those who love her are going to say nay, but it was our experience. We are with the hospital we have gone to for the past nine years. The Vet at this hospital was able to care for him with a good response within two days. I can't say enough good things about this veterinary clinic! I have been taking my pets to Dr. Kanda at Mountain View Animal Hospital for many years now. I live in the Sugarhouse area, but drive to Sandy for veterinary appointments because she's the only one I trust to care for my pets.
