I bring my dog here and have had positive experiences each time. Most recently, my dog had been throwing up so I called and they were able to get me a same day appointment! They took great care of my dog and got him the medicine he needed to feel better. The facility itself is very clean too. I did not come out of there covered in dog hair, which was nice. The staff is very kind and helpful. They are very upfront about the costs and made sure to give me quotes along the way to make sure it was okay before proceeding with care. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is when I called the first time to make an appointment for my new puppy, the receptionist didn't say "congratulations" "how exciting" "we're excited you're choosing us for your new adventure," etc. The first impression goes a long way, just as well as good customer service. The vets, nurses, assistants have been wonderful and patient with me in answering my numerous questions. I love the booklet they provided me with, which answers a lot of the questions I asked, yet they tool the time to answer instead of just referring me to the booklet. I had my puppy checked out initially to make sure all was well, as I had 48 hours to let the breeder know if there were any issues. I bought a puppy well package at the next visit. I love this place. The employees that work there are so nice, always friendly, remember me, my girlfriend, and my dogs by name. The vet is always calm and happy to calm all my worries about my dogs. I trust them to kennel my dogs as well, and I have never had an issue. I don't imagine myself switching vets anytime soon, this place is one of the best in Utah. A male veterinarian who works here is extremely inconsiderate and seriously lacking compassion. I've had two negative experiences here. The first was during a euthanasia, the doctor argued with me repeatedly on the decisions I had made. The second was when i brought a severely injured dog from the street in and he refused to even look at the dog before agreeing to pay her expenses. My family has been taking their dogs here for a few years so when I got my own dog, it only made sense to go to Petcare Animal Hospital myself. I've loved every experience so far but the one that stands out to me the most was when my pug was neutered. The Dr and the vet tech knew I was nervous and did everything to ease my worries. I have been coming here for almost 5 years now, and I love it. They are a little pricey compared to the "low cost" vets, but they are worth it. I wouldn't take my babies to anyone else! I love the staff here and wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else. They are super friendly, understanding, and honest. You can tell everyone here really loves animals. Great about checking back with lab results and after any surgeries. Love this place!! I've taken my bunnies to be neutered and they are so gentle with them and really dona great job. They were also cheaper then my normal vet that if been taking my dogs to so I changed my records over smoothly (they called and got all their records for me) and now they are my only vet for my dogs as well. The vet and the receptionist are way nice and great to work with. I can always get they quickly and they fit me right in. I had to change my appointment and they didn't have a problem making it a little later for me when I was stuck on freeways coming back from out of town. They are the absolute best Vet in town!!!! I love Petcare animal hospital! They are so kind both to me and my 12 year old cat, Sam. I had to cancel an appointment twice, and the wonderfully friendly person I called told me that they don't charge cancellation fees. I was floored! Took our pet here for his first check up. The ladies up front weren't very friendly and didn't bother to acknowledge my fiancé when he came in later to meet me up (he didn't know which room I was in so was hoping the ladies could help him). It also took the ladies awhile to figure out where and how to print off the new patient form. The doctor was nice and did what he needed to do. They are very thorough and I appreciate that...but....$300 to treat an ear infection in my small dog is just too costly. They told me the fee during the exam, however they did not tell me that 1 bottle of drops and one bottle of wash would come to $100 of it. I could not imagine an ear infection would be more then about $125-$175. Not sure if these items would have been less at another place, this was her first ear infection, but I will be trying a new Vet out. Read Less

What a difference a second and third opinion can make... This place is like the Ritz Carlton of Animal Hospitals, so be prepared to take a hit to your wallet. They want $50 just to see your animal, I've found several places since that don't even charge you for seeing the Vet. Getting all of your dogs shots will run you well into the $150+ range, when I just got them done for my dog and it cost me $60 at another place in West Jordan. The main reason for being upset with this place is the Doctor's handling of my lab's issue with his eye. The Doctor diagnosed him with a meibomian tumor, which supposedly is a pretty intensive surgery to remove. They estimated the procedure to cost over $900 (online searching had averages around $600) so I decided to get a second opinion. I called around and took my lab to two different vet hospitals and both Vets were under the impression it was nothing more than a wart. Seems fishy that the doctor at Pet Care wanted a $900 payday when two other vets agreed it was much simpler and cheaper. The cost of which to remove was around $70 total. I just had the eye treated and my dog and I couldn't be happier. I am thankful I did a discount double check, my dog, wife, and wallet are definitely happier too. Be prepared to be overcharged and potentially over-diagnosed, they have to pay for all that overhead somehow... Read Less

They are very thorough with our dog each time we go in, and patient to explain what is going on and what needs to be done. Every procedure is price quoted beforehand. The nurses and doctor are gentle with our dog and answer any and all questions we have without hurry. It has been a very positive experience for us and the dog to go there. This is the best vet around!  I've taken my dog there many times, the first time was for a consultation for a knee injury. Dr. Matches on took the time to educate my wife and I on all the options we had available. He treated us like we were the only customers in the building! Very kind and sincere staff. I took my Malti-poo to Petcare for grooming, shots & to be chipped. I was very impressed with the staff. They took the time to explain what was going on and Emily the groomer came out and talked with me before the grooming to introduce herself, asked me what I wanted and explained what she was going to do. PETCARE Animal Hospital is the best. I travel from Tooele Valley specifically so my dogs are treated by Dr Matheson. I started going to Dr. Matheson back in the late 80's after a vet in Tooele misdiagnosed my dog as being OK when I knew he wasn't. We moved out of the area for a few years but as soon as we moved back, I started trying to track down where Dr Matheson was practicing. He runs all tests necessary to properly diagnose your pet's problem. My dogs love him, even my little girl who is skittish around most people.
