Amor Animal Hospital was great! They were able to take me as a walk-in on a Saturday when my rabbit, Doug, hadn't eaten since the night before. Every other vet couldn't get us in until Tuesday, but that is too late for a rabbit that isn't eating. The vet was very conservative with treatment which I really appreciate because even a blood draw can be too stressful for a rabbit. Doug is eating well again, and I am thankful for them getting us in so quickly (It only took about an hour or so which is great as a walk-in). I also have to comment on a vet that I saw interacting with a dog in the waiting room. The vet seemed conservative with the recommended treatment, but he also gave the owners all of the information about all treatment options. It was a breath of fresh air to find a vet that doesn't immediately push for the most aggressive or invasive treatment but also makes sure the owners know all the options. I will be taking the rest of my pets here in the future as I also have a dog, cat, and a chinchilla. Read Less

Unfortunately our senior dog passed away while being boarded at Amor. It was nothing that was caused by his stay at Amor - it was due to old age. They were so kind and helpful every step of the way. When they called to tell me what happened, they said that they would refund his boarding because I had already paid for the three day stay. They offered services and we decided to get our dog's paw print, have a private cremation, and have his ashes returned to us. Instead of refunding for the boarding, they covered the paw print and private ashes. Even though, based on the prices, we should have had a balance due they insisted that we didn't need to pay anything else. They had a very gentle and kind approach which helped during the difficult time of losing a pet. Read Less

We took our dog into Amor on a Saturday because we couldn't get into our vet. We were able to walk in without an appointment. That's the only reason they get a star. Our dog had oozing wounds on his face, they took him out of the room, came back and his face was worse than when we brought him in! They put a muzzle on him knowing he was in pain from his face to clip his nails. Told us he got into rose bushes and sent us home. The next day we noticed him licking at his stomach. I lifted his leg, and blood was coming out of his stomach. We ran him to Blue Pearl Animal hospital and the care and concern there was 100% better . He has an absess on his stomach. If we didn't notice his stomach sore, and didn't run him in when we did and get the infection drained, he'd be dead. He's a border collie, so very furry, but I feel like if he got a thorough exam, they would have noticed his stomach. Also, we paid what we paid, and the lady who saw our pet didn't come across as a vet. She certainly didn't introduce herself as one. Never wasting money there again. Read Less

Then yesterday my girl was hit by a car. When I asked if they would see her I was told probably not since we close in an hour you will have to take her to Either cottonwood or blue pearl. They are 5 minutes from me!! And they wouldn't take her. I was stuck in traffic for 45 minutes just to get her to the closest one (blue pearl was amazing with her). Called for a quote for a bunny neuter, when I arrived the estimate was significantly higher. After the front desk gal looked into the cost she spoke with the surgeon and they honored the estimate I was given. The front desk was hectic but the ladies were all nice. They called me just a short time later letting me know our bunny was done. They suggested us getting a baby onesie and cutting a hole underneath for his tail and so he could relieve himself as that what they put him in after surgery. Knowing it would be difficult handling my bunny carefully after surgery and knowing he would not want to be handled I asked if we could keep the onesie he was in and return it when we took him to get his stitches out. They answered no because they were short onesies because no one was returning them (I would think this cost would of been covered in the quote as dressing but it was not). I proceeded to dress my bunny at home and handle him and he wasn't having it and I cut the hole a little to high, by the time I got it on he peed so now I was worried about his suture have pee on it. I took the onesie off and put his cage near me during the night so I could constantly check he was not bothering his stitches. End result they were great I just wish the onesie would have been left on. He never bothered the sutures we just added unnecessary stress to our little guy. He is healing great. I have definitely found the vet clinic for our bunny .Read Less

My Healthy, gentle dog walked in to the groomers but I had to carry him out. He was in severe pain! What happened????? NO explanation as to what happened during his grooming and they did not seek help from the veterinarian down the hall. My dog could not walk. I asked for help from the vet but was told I had to make an appointment and there was nothing available for three days! Insane! I took him immediately to another vet. His hip had been dislocated during the grooming and no one tried to help my pet through this painful event. Amor even had the nerve to charge me $10. more because they said he would not stand up during his grooming! Worse experience ever!!I was a regular client with Amor until this happened. The MOST uncaring and unprofessional staff and veterinarian I have ever met. No explanation from the groomer and no response from the vet. Was referred to come to Amor by my sister-in-law. She told me that it was a great place to get my puppy's first round of vaccines because they let you hold your pup so they don't get scared; well that is not the case for me. The lady vet who came in was very uncaring and talked down to me. She hardly gave me any information either, about the vaccines or anything else. Every visit after this first one has been less than fair. It is always a different vet that comes in and checks out my puppy. Not to mention I get charged $50 for an examination fee, but my dog is NEVER examined the way he should be. This last visit was the worst; I took my pup to get his last round of shots, and they decided to give a rabies shot as well. According to research I have done, a rabies shot should be given isolated, without any other vaccines. My poor pup had the WORST reaction to his booster and rabies shot together, and the worst part is the old-guy vet (no one gives their name here) did not tell me of any side-effects my dog could have. I called Amor and they were less than helpful about the situation. They basically said they could not help me unless I brought my pup in for an examination. It's a good think he is a strong immune system because there was no way I was taking him in. Amor is a horrible place to take your pet. They are overpriced and extremely uncaring. I will be taking my pup to another vet, and will be telling all my friends to never visit this "establishment". Read Less

I went back in Tuesday to get syringes and the insulin, another $125. Waffles passed away Wednesday night. I felt that all that they cared about was selling high price crap food, an overpriced fancy syringe disposal, and syringes. Our 16 year old cat was incredibly ill and took such a turn for the worse, they hadn't seen her before but they got her in on a Saturday with only 30 minutes notice. The doctor was unbelievably kind, and gave us the comfort and information we needed to make the decision to put her to sleep. Sometimes you just need someone to give you the permission to let your cat go, that you have done all that you can and the best thing now is to let her pass peacefully. They made us feel so much better by telling us that she had lived a very full life and to look at this as the last gift we could give her. Truthfully I usually dont like vets, but I will now never take my cats anywhere else and I feel that they truly care for you and your animal. They spent so much time with us and didn't even charge us for the visit only the euthanasia. I cant express how thankful I am that they were so kind and made such a difficult and painful decision less so. Their prices were also unbelievably reasonable and they checked everything with us before proceeding. If you guys at Amor pet hospital read this, I just wanted to thank you so much! Read Less

I should have known not to use the medication the vet prescribed for my guinea pig when she was condescending about things she was wrong about regarding social behavior. However, I trusted her judgement on his injury and used medication on my young guinea pig that causes BONE ABNORMALITIES in young guinea pigs. Obviously, I didn't know this until later. So, this caused my guinea pig's jaw to become deformed. He can no longer eat on his own, must be syringe fed taking hours of my time every day, and has to have his teeth trimmed monthly which is costly ($100 per month). Not to mention all of the costs to try to fix it; x-rays, tests, medications.. They SHOULD NOT say they take animals that they have no idea how to treat and this has had a HUGE impact on my daily life. I am giving two stars instead of one because I have had a good experience with Amor up until the last several months. I have used their grooming service for about 2 years now. I took my dog in about every 3 months and their groomers did a great job. The first mishap occurred 2 visits ago where they gave my dog vaccinations (Bordatella and another) WITHOUT my permission. I took that as an isolated instance and moved on. I scheduled my dog for her grooming appt. on Monday this week, and when I called I asked if she needed any vaccinations beforehand she said "No, she is good for now, but will need her Bordatella before the following groom". I stopped in this morning to drop her off and to my surprise, they told me she needed her rabies shot. I asked why they are now bringing this to my attention, and not when I booked her appt. on Monday. I asked how much do they charge for the vaccination, and they quoted me $40 for the rabies shot, and another $50 for the "exam", totaling $90!! This is DOUBLE what I generally pay for another local vet. Not to mention, I don't believe an exam is necessary for a vaccination. I think an exam is necessary if I have a general concern and I am present for the exam to ask the Veterinarian questions. Bottom line is this; I think this practice is shenanigans, and I felt coerced into having them do the vaccination to avoid me having to take my dog back home. I had to agree to the rabies shot fee in order to get her groomed today. I opted to take her back home due to principal, and I would like to understand how this makes business sense to effectively operate a clinic where they struggle with organization and staying competitively priced in their vet services. I will not return to this clinic and I encourage you to be mindful if you do consider them. Read Less

I took My dog to Amor. I told them he would not open his mouth, and his eye was infected. Not sure why. They examined my dog, and told me it was no big deal. He had probably got something in his eye. Which caused it to get infected. They gave me some eye drops and antibiotics. It seemed to help. After the second day, it got worse. I called them up, I described what was going on, and now his face was swelling. They said "Its no big deal sometimes it takes days for the meds to kick in." The next day it had gotten to the point my dog would not move on his own. I took him to a different vet, who examined him. They Found a chunk of wood jammed in the roof of his mouth! That was causing the infection. I could not believe that Amor did not do a thorough exam, and seemed to not be concerned. When I called them with concern. I will never go back there again! Read Less

He always gives us a huge guilt trip on our dog being over weight, and he really is not that overweight I mean you wouldn't look at him and say he's a fat dog he looks normal sized. But he knows what he's doing since he's always solved our problems. We have had a reoccuring skin problem with our dog and they have been really good about just letting us pick up the medicine instead of charging us for an exam. I really like the groomers, the front desk people, and the vet techs they are all very friendly and knowledgable. We have to have our dog sedated to get him groomed because he is so mean but the whole grooming actually ends up costing us about the same as going to other places and the gals there do a great job. Even though he snaps at them they are still very gentle with him-we've gone to other places with where that hasn't been the case. Read Less

Amor Animal Hospital is by far the best around. When I moved to West Jordan in 1988, I needed a Vet close to our home. I chose Amor and Dr. Corey Nebeker. Over the years I have tried a few others, but always return to Amor. Currently I own 2 cats, both males, and one is 7 and the other 11 years of age. They see Corey if available, or they have been seen by his associate, Dr. Rick Sicklesmith. I love Dr. Sicklesmith as he returns findings and comments by email to you. Overall, I rate this business a 5 star. Yes, it costs a little more for everything here, but the staff is outstanding, and the doctors impeccable. Read Less

Because our pets were left in their day care for a week, we thought they were a good clinic. Suprize, 6 months later our lab was throwing up blood so she went to Amor within the hour. Into surgery in the next 8 hours. The doctor said it was a major surgery but that if she survived the surgery she would be allright. My husband was there with her, through the surgery, after the surgery.. she was doing well, walking - wagging- and kissing. My husband and I stayed until closing, thinking she would be taken care of. Everyone in the clinic left and there was no one on duty all night. Next am when we callled, our dog was dead. They had not left anyone there to care for the animals, they didn't have a night time staff. She had layed all night on a cement floor, with no one to care. That doctor didn't give her a chance. If that had been your child would you have felt good about those conditions. We paid the 2K for the opperation. They wanted the money yesterday, how much they cared !!!I would not recommend the clinic to anyone, as I don't see love and caring for the animals being part of their lives. I'm sorry for them....I am even more sorry for those who have also lost their animals by that clinic.Thank you. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

I took my amazon parrot in for an infected eye.. My appointment was 1/2 before closing and even close to closing time, Dr Nebeker did not rush through the exam. He showed and explained everything to me, even discussed diet. My parrot is improving after 1 day with the advise and 2 meds that Dr Nebeker gave me; He had told me it may take weeks, even months to clear the infection and a specialist [ophthalmology] may be in order down the road. I feel he is very thorough and especially appreciate that he took time to explain what was going on. I would highly recommend him as an avian veterinarian.

Read Less

Dr Rick is the best vet around. He is compassionate and caring and very informative with details regarding everything that concerned our dog Kalli. She was a rescue and has had many health issues over the years which have been very expensive and time consuming but we made the commitment when we took her home to care for her. She is a member of our family. We moved to Florida and so nervous about trying to find a new vet here as we know Dr Rick has set the bar very high with us. Our dog is near the point of having to be put to sleep and we so wish that we were in Utah to have it done at Amor as we know much they care for their patients. Thank you all for the past service you have given us and please continue your top notch work! Regards, Vaughn Anderson-Stone Read Less

We have gone to a few different vets for our dog who seems to have never ending troubles. We have continued to go here because their prices are pretty resonable compared to other places and we haven't had any problems with them. I can't say I'm too crazy about the actual vet that we see. He is a little bit rude and condesending.

Read Less

If you're willing to pay for it, you'll get very good service from Amor Animal Hospital. The staff is professional and friendly, and the doctors are very kind. I've dealt with several doctors, nurses, and receptionists at AAH over the years and have never had a negative experience. I'd only say to just request the pricing for certain procedures in advance so you don't experience sticker shock.

Read Less
