I took my dog in there to get spayed the incision and the suture looks very sloppy and jagged. A few days later the incision ended up being infected. When I brought my dog back for them to look at the incision they were very rough with her very rude they don't like to be criticized when I mentioned I didn't like the way the wound was closed and how Jagged and messed up the incision look. They ended up having to redo some sutures and I had to pay for some antibiotics. My dog had a cone was not licking the wound we were keeping it clean and the fact that they had to redo some sutures and then turn around and charge me for antibiotics when I believe it was their own sloppy work that led to the wound being infected Read Less

I will only take my animals here, even after moving further away, they are worth it!! My family and I have been taking all our furry family members here since I was very little. They do what is best for your babies, and they care about them. I recently lost a cat and they were extremely kind and they brought in the paper work into the exam room so we could walk right out and not stand at the check out with our cat in a box. The staff is super friendly and the doctors know their stuff!! I called last week about my dog getting into some grapes and they gave me an emergency number and location and told me to take her there right away. Animal Crackers is the best pet clinic we've come across in ages. We've brought multiple cats in for check ups, diabetes maint, cyst removal, teeth cleaning, and neutering. The staff is professional and caring, and we love Dr. Burton, who took over care after previous dr retired. Very up to date on modern cat diagnosis and treatment, as well as making sure our cats aren't overstressed during visits. Only downside is no separation of dogs and cats. However, this clinic is very clean and well maintained, and the focus is on properly, yet affordably, treating patients rather than remodeling a perfectly good clinic. Highly recommend. Read Less

I have had moments that I have loved this veterinary clinic, but I have also had moments that they have been unprofessional. I get it, you see animals suffering, day in and day out. You deal with the issues all the time. Your immune to it. You've lost your sympathy, and love for these animals. BUT these animals, they are our pets -- part of our family. He vet knelt on the ground to deal with my hyper husky so she wouldn't go sliding all over the table. They also have a little kitty who just hangs out there. My family has been going to Animal Crackers for about 15 years, and now we have mixed feelings. The wait time was always about 15-30 minutes to check in and out. We took our family dog here when he broke his leg, and were impressed with Dr. Burton and how she took care of him. Most recently, however, our other dog was very bloated so we took her in. The doctor acknowledged that her bloating was abnormal and said he would have wanted to take an X-ray, but their X-ray machine was down. He prescribed her some anti-diarrhea medication and told us to come back in 5 days if the situation worsened. After two days, the bloating had not gotten any better so we decided to go to another vet who could fit us in that day. The other vet also acknowledged that the bloating was abnormal and very serious and insisted to take X-rays and draw blood. Turns out our dog had a very aggressive form of cancer that caused a ruptured spleen. She was internally bleeding and had to be put down that day. We were not impressed that the doctor at Animal Crackers did not recommend we go somewhere else to have x-rays done or even think about drawing blood. I have to start with how saddened I am to write this post. My husband and I have debated over posting for a few weeks now,, however, the health of our dog is so important we felt we needed to get the word out so other's don't have the problems we have had. We have been going to Animal Crackers for over 20 years. We have had several dogs and cats that Dr. Palfreyman has taken great care of. We now have a new Westie, she is 2, and was diagnosed with Addison. It is a disease that require monthly shots of Percorten to keep her organ's functioning. So over the past 18 months we have been making our monthly trip to Animal Crackers for the shot. Never during this time was her temperature checked or vitals taken. Now the story takes a sad turn for the worse. In November of 2016 I saw Dr. Handy for the 1st time. He asked if everything was going ok, if our dog was vomiting or anything. I answered with "well she will vomit clear liquid after she drinks a lot of water, but other then that, everything is fine. His answer was "well we need to give her more Percorten then, and he doubled her dose. I instantly felt uneasy about it, I mean dogs vomit clear liquid after drinking water for many different reason's, and there was no other sign of her being in an Addison crisis. But I put my worry aside, trusted the Dr. and allowed the shot. Within a week she was not doing well, she was lethargic, no energy, looked kind of sad all the time, so we called the vet and they immediately had us come back in and run blood work. My question now was, why didn't you run blood work BEFORE you doubled her dose? The next time I was in with Dr. Handy, he had a vet tech come in before him and say she needed to take our dogs temp and vitals. Now keep in mind, this had NEVER happened before. Not with any of the Dr's, so obviously I was concerned that something might be going on. I asked the vet tech why they were doing vitals and taking her temp and the response was "because the dr said to" WHAT? What kind of answer is that? So she took the temp and vitals and left the room. When the Dr came in, he again was with his vet tech, and said he was going to give my dog the shot. Every single time before that I was allowed to hold and comfort my dog. THIS TIME, I was not allowed to. The vet tech HAD to do it. And when I expressed my dislike, the Dr. didn't really care. They grabbed the dog, gave the shot and that was that. I was clearly upset, so the Dr asked me about it. I told him I was upset because they had just taken charge, my poor dog had always had me there to comfort her during the shot and now because HE said so some stranger took her. NOT OK. He said it was policy, Really? Then why was that the first time in 18 months that "policy" had been enforced. His answer, because we have been short staffed. For 18 months? Really? I asked about the fact that they took her temp and vitals for the 1st time EVER, and his response was, I'm being thorough. So, you haven't been being thorough for the last 18 months, but now all of a sudden you are? Why weren't you thorough when you doubled her dose of medication?? Needless to say I have LOST all trust in this Dr, but sadly he is the one there in the evenings when I can take my dog. Needless to say, we will never be going back. I will not allow a Dr. I have NO faith or trust in, treat my dog. We also asked several Dr's if we could get a prescription for the Percorten and give our dog her shots at home. We were flat out LIED to and told that we couldn't get Percorten, it had to be given by a vet. Well we have since found a NEW vet, and guess what. He wrote us a prescription for Percorten, and taught us how to administer the shot at home. Imagine that, an honest vet that is actually trying to help you manage your dog's illness without gouging your pocket book. I will not, nor would I EVER recommend Dr. Handy to anyone that loves their pet. His bedside manor is horrible, he is condescending and flat out RUDE, and will cut corner's when needed. Read Less

It's not fun when I get my vaccines, nail trims, and health exams, but I know it's for my well-being. I am so thrilled and happy with the veterinarians and staff at Animal Crackers. I have been taking my dogs (furbabies) there for 17 years now. During the phase out of some of the older staff and changes being made, I became a bit frustrated and was forced into trying two other Veterinary hospitals as I was not able to get an appointment with Animal Crackers in a timely manner, not even for emergencies, but I came back to give them another try. Thank goodness that I did. Our little Shih Tzu, Snickers developed a life threatening cyst that the other hospitals had not found. It ruptured and Doctor Bostrom saw us immediately. He took care of it right then.and gave us some meds. Unfortunately, it continued to progress and ruptured again. Once again Dr. Bostrom saw us immediately and had to do immediate surgery, and it was then that he discovered the jaw bone had been being eaten away due to a secondary infection, despite the fact that Snickers had been and still was on antibiotics for nearly four months at this time and a couple of different types. Dr. Bostrom was then kind enough and without ego getting in the way, referred us to specialty care at BluePearl Animal Hospital. He is alive and doing well now after 6 months of trying to get to the root cause and getting the proper surgery and antibiotics specific to the infection that had build had a resistance to other antibiotics. The entire staff and doctors have been wonderful there. I thank Dr. Palfreyman as the founder of Animal Crackers and his partners throughout the years and for his continued dedication and concern in seeing to it that his beloved Animal Crackers continues to honor the integrity that he had in his practice. Rest assured, Dr. Palfreyman, that you have left your business in good hands as you begin to enjoy some retirement years. We know how much you loved what you did and still do. I also want to thank Dr Anderson. for his gentleness and caring ways with our furvabies,as well when we saw you from time to time. I used to go there for 20 years and now then they were telling me to go to Midvalley Vet. Why? Duh? And the older vets retired (surely missed them) and the new vets... they kept telling me that my dog's ears were dirty. Really, duh, she has a severe inflammation and infection in both ears. I had to take her to a different vet. The prices are outrages now. They are raising the prices and serving poor quality of services. Sad. And I may have to put one of my cats down because they didn't do the x ray. The other vet said X ray is important to see how bad it is. My cat could not pee very well. Read Less

I have been going to Animal Crackers for 15 years with multiple pets. They have always been WONDERFUL with my furry babies. A few days ago my little doxy was showing signs of a stroke (stumbling, walking in circles, head tilted to one side) so I rushed in there without an appointment on a Saturday. They were just leaving for lunch, but Dr. Anderson stayed to look at her. He assessed her and diagnosed an inner ear issue. Dr. Palfreyman is wonderful too. He has called me to check up on my pets when they were receiving treatment at home. He has worked with me when care was becoming costly, and when one of my pets was no longer going to be able to live well with his illness, he and the entire staff were so wonderful as we made the painful decision to let him go. They even sent a card a month later - signed by the whole staff. It's those little personal touches - knowing your animal as a patient - that make this place wonderful.Read Less

I've been going to animal crackers for 9 years and I've had a great experience. I called on the 14th of September on my dog being sick they scheduled her the next morning. Dr handy was the vet that saw her and he was extremely kind and very informative. He kept me updated on everything he did and staied in my budget. He was very respectful and knowledgeable. I love our vet. I was introduced by my in law maybe 7 years ago and is now the only place I trust my fur babies with for their shots, check ups and all other care. My fur babies have been there for shots, yearly check ups, teeth cleaning and extractions, eye infections, spay, etc. Their prices are very reasonable compared to vets I had previously gone to and I've actually walked out of appointments that ended up being free of charge. They are very honest with what they can't, can or are comfortable with seeing my fur babies for. One of my fur babies was just diagnosed with Addison's disease which on their recommendation I took her to AVC where they diagnosed her. We will continue her treatments at AVC, but for all other issues we will still go to Animal Crackers. The only draw back is the location, getting out of there especially during high traffic hours is a bit of a pain but worth it.Read Less

Went there for over 15 years but when the one founder retired and the other cut back, new doctors came in and the prices went up dramatically. I understand they had to raise prices but it is no longer worth it to drive there from the south end of South Jordan for me, especially as the wait times seem excessive most times I have been there. I have been taking my two cats here for about 10 years. I was referred to them from a friend who told me they had gone here before and liked it and thought the pricing was reasonable. I have not been to other places so I do not have much to compare it to however I have always been satisfied. Unless you try to schedule on a Saturday with not much notice you can generally always get in quickly. The ladies at the front desk have always been friendly and usually come out to see my cats, even if they are in their carriers. The only negative thing I have ever experienced here is with prescriptions. Once I was given a prescription that was double the dose, luckily I noticed prior to giving it to my cat and cut the pills in half. Could have been bad if I didn't pay attention but in the long run it ended up benefiting me cause I could make the prescription last 2 months instead of one. This was a few years ago. The recent script I got had the dose labeled incorrectly but I caught it while there and it was correctly promptly. As long as you pay attention to that, everything else has been good. I have seen 2 or 3 vets there and have been satisfied each time. They have been able to solve some pretty mysterious issues I have gone in for on the first visit. Issues that could of ended up taking many visits and lots of money. I would recommend them. Read Less

We went to Animal crackers for years and loved them! We only switched vets because we moved and our sick dog needed to be seen twice a week and the drive was too hard. We switched 8 months ago. We just had to call them for our other dog, needing her records on vaccinations and the lady on the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. She stated we were inactive patients and refused to give us the information. I called to ask how old puppies should be to get their second shots and she snapped at me asking where I got my dog. I replied at a shelter but I don't know the name it was in American fork and I'm not from down there. She said well they should have told you! Then I asked how old for them to be fixed and she snapped at me again saying the shelter I got him they should have also told me! I was going to make an apt for getting his shots then getting him fixed in the future but after that call I will never go there again. That lady just ruined getting my business!
