We adopted a Yorkie and took her in for a check up and signed up for the pet wellness program. They gave her a clean bill of health and said nothing was wrong with her. Then she died. They refuse to cancel the program. Our dog was with them, at the clinic, for over 4 hours. They should have been able to figure out what her issue was before we took her home to just die on us. Very disappointed. I won’t ever take any of my animals there again. Plus, I will be disputing the charges on the credit card for a wellness plan I cannot use as my Yorkie has passed away. Read Less

If I could write Banfield 0 Stars I certainly would. I took a cat in that was approximately 2 years old who I thought had an upper respiratory infection. She had been an outdoor cat for most of her life but had spent the last 8 months of her life as an indoor cat. I had three cats at a time and asked if I could schedule an appointment for all them to be seen and was told I could not that the appointments were only 30 minutes and for one animal. Getting rid of upper respiratory is difficult in a multi-cat household and I would not have gotten rid of their upper respiratory infection medicating them all at different times. Regardless when I went in it didn't seem like they asked very many questions and I basically told them what I thought was wrong with my animal and they gave her an antibiotic shot and sent me on my merry way. I noticed after 6 days my animal was not getting better, I was told by the emergency vet that I took her to that I should have seen Improvement within two to three days when Banfield had told me it could be up to 2 weeks to see Improvement in her condition. Needless to say when I got to the emergency vet they could not believe how amazing she ate it she was and told me that my cat had jaundice, primary kidney involvement and fatty liver involvement and her GI tract with swollen and irritated. All this boiled down to them thinking that she had cancer and FIP. I'm not sure how Banfield missed all these things, even when I looked at my animal after she had passed I could see the jaundice when the vet pointed it out to me. I feel that Banfield is only interested in money they're not interested in treating the animal and listening to their customers. Needless to say, I am now going to be searching for a new veterinarian and I will never return to Banfield. Banfield missed the mark can you say inept and incompetent? Read Less

Can I rate this place negative stars? Spent the night at an emergency veterinary clinic, we were referred to this location as it was open on sunday. We drove up from lehi to be there when it opened. My kittens leg is broken, obviously as it was dangling, and I was refused service. Because "We have pets here that have appointments". I pointed out the sign on the wall that states injured and sick pets will be seen first. She said that only applies to those with appointments . WHAT GOOD IS THE WELLNESS PLAN IF YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS OF 14+ YEARS SO POORLY. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. The staff have no hearts, and are very rude in the way they talk to others. I use to go to Banfield in West Valley they where good, but super busy and over booked themselves and when my dog had an emergency West Valley could never get him in. When I called Banfield in Taylorsville they always got me in. Dr. Huelin was so great, she showed that she cared about my dog and his health. First time I took him into her he had pancreatitis, she did testing to make sure that is what he had. She gave me a special diet that he had to eat for awhile. After eating the special diet for a while I could change back to his regular food, but he got sick again, I called West Valley they where booked and couldn't see him. I once again called Taylorsville and they got me right in. Did more blood work and more tests, he now has to be on the special diet the rest of his life, but not only did she explain everything so I understood her, she truly cared about my dog which means the world to me. Dr. Huelin is now my main vet. I cannot say enough good things about her. She has been the best.  I also love there insurance program as well, it has saved me so much money! Everyone I've dealt with is friendly enough, it's clean, and my appointment today was really fast(which is my problem). We were there for a bordetella vaccine, which is a mist up the nose. I didn't wait more than 3 minutes to go into the exam room, and the nurse and doctor were already in there. I walked into the room at 6:30 and I had already checked out and paid by 6:37. Great right? Until you know that I paid $70! What?! I paid them $10 PER MINUTE? I get the vaccine costs money, not sure it's enough to charge $30 for it, but whatever. But I paid them $40 to check her teeth, stick a thermometer up her butt and ask if there were any concerns? That's literally all they did. And shoot the vaccine up her nose, which she promptly sneezed out a bunch of onto the exam table, but I assume that's normal since they didn't seem concerned. I'm so bugged that they charge $40 for an "exam" and that's what it consisted of. Fast is usually great, until you feel like you just got ripped off. Read Less

With the online information I found, I was very worried about Tinks (my Yorkie) bladder stone surgery.  I was completely expecting the worst and was dreading the outcome.  I fully expected that my companion of 10 years was not going to survive. With tears I dropped off my buddy and was told the Vet would give me a call and discuss the procedure. Dr. Catherine Sawula talked to me at length and earned my trust with her compassion and knowledge.  I knew she was sincere with her concerns about my feelings. I am very happy with the outcome and the cost involved with the procedure. The actual cost was less than the treatment plan which was also a great relief. I wouldn't recommend any pet owner take their pet to the Banfield facilities. We took both our dogs there for over 11 years, paid tens of thousands of dollars for their insurance plans, surgeries, medication, etc. but at the end realized what a huge mistake we had made. Most recently we lost our lab of 11 years. When we needed Banfield the most, they turned us away even when they knew that we had insurance at their facility. Because it was an emergency situation, we called another Banfield location on Redwood Road and they turned us away as well because they said that the doctor was on a lunch break. We ended up at Lone Peak Vet in Draper and they took us in immediately and even went the extra mile to transport him to an emergency facility without charging us for it. It was the first time for us to go there and we feel that they treated us better than Banfield ever did in the 11 years. Don't waste your money and don't risk your pet's life in Banfield's hands. When Banfield heard that we lost our pet, they did call us and let us know that both of their centers should have never turned us away. However, when we needed them most, they refused to see us Read Less

I've used Banfield for a number of years, and personally I believe providing you take them for what they are, which is a decent pet hospital for most routine pet checkups, vaccinations and minor surgeries they are perfectly fine. And for that they earn a solid 3, maybe even 3 1/2 if I could give them it.However, I do agree with others on the way they operate regarding cost of services and the pestering over getting you onto wellness plans.  And just overall the front-end customer service leaves a little to be desired at times, but I've found this to be the case with many vet/pet hospitals. If you have healthy pets, the wellness plans are actually worth it, we use them for two of our cats.  The cost of the plans is still less annually than it costs for their regular checkup visits, diagnostic tests and vaccinations and also covers a certain amount of dental care depending on the plan.  But beyond that you need to understand this is a loyalty program at the end of the day, it is NOT pet medical insurance which is much more expensive but obviously covers a lot more also.  As a result for another of our pets who tends to requires special care, we don't use a plan because even for basic things he's "difficult" and doesn't deal well with sedation, so the plan becomes not worth it even for services done at Banfield. For more serious issues the plans don't cover, my personal advice (and as someone who will tend to spend the earth on my pets getting them right) I do say shop around and get second opinions.  I've been frustrated with "extra" charges from almost every vet or pet hospital I've used over the years, but really at the end of the day doing the right thing for my pets is more important. This is a sweat shop pet hospital. They don't seem to care nearly as much about the health of my pets as they do about collecting the dollah dollah bills, y'all. My little dog nearly lost his eye because of their lax approach to pet care. They diagnosed a laceration in his eye. They gave us antibiotics and pain meds and said he should be fine. He wasn't! The cut was very deep and very dangerous. I think if they had at least advised us to put the "cone of shame" on him, it might have helped. I decided I'd give Banfield a try since we aren't really in love with our other vet place. I called the two and Banfield quoted me more than the other place but I thought what the heck. I needed to give my puppy her second set of puppy shots and I waited an hour before a girl stuck an anal probe up my dogs behind then she spent 5 minutes trying to up sell me on a 400 dollar a year wellness program. She talked about payments but I still have no clue what the benefit of the program is. I spent another 20 minutes waiting for the actual doctor to come into the room. She told me id have to pay 40 bucks for the puppy checkup which I already knew but she said to get the last set of shots Id have to pay an additional 40 which the lady on the phone said I didn't! So not only are they more money but they are adding fees that other places don't. She was a great vet. I have to give her credit, she did great with my puppy, RVCA didn't even know she was given 2 shots. The whole staff treated my puppy so well after the nurse finally came in. They did try to up-sell me on eat wash and other stuff but overall my attitude started to turn around when they finally started to see the puppy. I rated the Banfield Clinic as just OK. They will treat you well after your long wait but bring your checkbook as it seems they charge more than most other places. Read Less

Now all 3 of my dogs will see her from now on. I will be a Banfield customer for life. Thanks, again Dr. Huelin!! Read Less

I took my dog to a few different vets before visiting this location. I absolutely adore Dr Huelin and all the staff at Taylorsville Banfield. We have been in now several times and each experience has been a pleasure. From the person who answers the phone, to the techs to the Dr -- they are all very professional. Dr Huelin is patient and listens to each of my one million questions regarding my dog without judging me as a crazy dog lady (which I am).

But,  since they were out of the cones, they decided not to even recommend it to us.Fortunately, we were able to find a REAL animal hospital and they were able to save lil' Mojo's eyeball. Read Less

Read Less
