After 2 bad experiences with other vets in New York, I brought my dog in for a second opinion after we were told by someone else that the dog had a foreign object in his throat . We have been going to Mount Anthony for over a decade now for all of our beloved dogs & cats care. There is nothing but kind, professional, compassionate and pleasant staff to encounter. Everyone from the receptionists, groomer, technicians, and doctors are willing to take the time to explain and educate what options are available. As all professional veterinary care can get quite costly, Mount Anthony is also fairly priced compared to what I've heard from other pet owners who have faced similar procedures and services. My dog was brought to the emergency animal hospital in Springfield, Ma for vomiting. They took X-rays and found a possible foreign body and recommended surgery with a quote of $4-6,000 and explained to me that waiting to see if it passes could cause death and made me feel hopeless. We left absolutely terrified and heartbroken with the hope that it would pass without complication or my dog could hang on until we found a vet to do the surgery at a more affordable price. Thankfully my mother, who brings her dogs to Mount Anthony, contacted Dr. Hudson through on-call. Dr. Hudson was willing to see my dog even though I don't even live in Vermont. He got me in ASAP and after reviewing his own X-rays and blood work, recommended AGAINST surgery. We left with medications and my dog is doing SO, so much better. He's going to be just fine. We received the BEST vet care for our dog! Everyone is super friendly and extremely helpful. The Dr. is professional and caring. The prices are very fair and won't break the bank. They helped with our dog and his bad teeth. While other Drs wanted to operate they took a different approach. The Dr. said operation would be a last resort. We were given medication to help with his teeth and it WORKED!!!Our dog's teeth are much better and no more bad breath. Sooooo glad we came here!!!We also tried their grooming and it was FANTASTIC!!! I am disgusted by my recent visit to Mount Anthony Veterinary hospital, specifically with Dr. Hudson.I came because my dog had been recently acting aggressive and very anxious and was looking for potential medication to help relax her. However, when we were called into the room, he was very impersonal and did not even introduce himself to me or ask me my name. He did not acknowledge my dog in any way, and told me the best thing to do would be to put her down (because she had nipped at my toddler son). He explained that she would probably try and bite again and then I could be in a lot of legal trouble and that there was no way to reduce the risk or cure her of her aggression. She is 5 years old and has never shown any serious aggression until the last year or so. He showed absolutely no remorse for the love my family had for our dog and did not seem interested in doing anything to help us other than put our family dog down. In the end, he prescribed 20 mg of Prozac, after me putting my foot down and insisting we were not going to put her down without trying anything else first. However, it took some convincing. They did not even weigh my dog to see if this was the proper dosage for her size. She had not been to the vet in a couple of years due to good health. He showed no interest in doing a well-visit for the dog, clipping her nails, etc. He couldn't get us out of the room fast enough. Mind you, my dog sat right by my side, terrified, and had shown no aggression during the visit.It is disgusting to me that a vet would automatically want to put a dog down for showing aggression periodically within the last year after never being aggressive. He was very unfriendly and did not make me ever want to return there again. Read Less

We would never have been gifted this last season with our old girl if it had not been for them! I Rushed my dog sadie to the hospital on 10/20/09 when i couldn't wake her but she was breatheing. They immidiatly got er in but sadly there was nothing they could do to save her and we had to put her down. Though i am sad i wish to say tank you for all that you did.
