Very rude and poor customer service. When my Vet retired, I was referred to Caring Hands. I called ahead to see if they were "taking new patients", and that I had been referred by a neighbor who takes their dog there.  The female who answered the phone (didn't state her name) replied, It Depends, you'll need to come in we don't accept referrals over the phone.Once I arrived, with shot record and health record in hand, I was told it would be at least 4 hours before someone could even talk to me.  When I asked if I should make an appointment, the staff member at the desk said, It Depends. Seemed odd when trying to hire a new Vet for an obviously well-cared for dog looking for a new doctor. I left, called my groomer who referred me to Belle Haven Animal Hospital.  We are Very happy there! Read Less

Excellent overall experience. The staff and Dr. Stephanie Harris were super helpful. If it's your first time bringing your pet here make sure you check out their website and print $25 coupon for first time visit. Dr. Harris was super meticulous in examining my super nervous cat. She even advised us to come back when she is more calm and has taken some medication so that she could finish her evaluation at no additional cost!  She did a great job of educating me about my cat and her healthcare needs including emailing me a personalized diet plan for my overweight cat. I would give 10 stars if I could! We drive all the way from DC (no not that far, but have you sat in rush hour traffic?) for this place. They are certainly not cheap, so don't come here to save money, but their care for your animal is priceless. They are incredibly responsive (everyone from the reception to the vet), reply to all calls/emails/etc. within an incredibly timely manner, straight forward when it comes to caring for your pet, and incredibly nice. Caring Hands fit us in on very short notice on a Friday night when we had to put our beloved cat down under stressful circumstances (our regular vet was closed for several days). I was so distraught that I don't remember the names of the techs or doctor, but they were all so kind and compassionate and made the end of my cat's life as peaceful as possible. I have been taking my corgi here since I rescued him and I could not be happier with my choice. Dr. Thornton is his veterinarian and she has treated him so kindly - my pup really trusts her, which is so nice to find! She is fantastic at administering vaccines and doing blood draws - I'm a nervous pet parent and she takes care of my pup every time he needs anything.  She helped me with a meal plan so I can get him down to a healthy weight, which I'm super grateful for. The vet tech, Selena, was super sweet and helpful as well. The prices aren't exorbitant either! All in all, this is a top notch vet facility and I always have a wonderful experience when I come here. The care here is absolutely the best. We love Caring Hands and our Rottweiler did, too. The staff is professional and kind with animals and humans alike and the facility itself is lovely. We unexpectedly put our incredible dog down five days ago and Caring Hands was so great. They took excellent care of him in his final hours, were patient with us while we made hard decisions, and gave us plenty of time with him before, during, and after we let him go. Could not say better things about this animal hospital, its staff, and our favorite Dr. Robinson. Unfortunately we moved and wow do I miss the impeccable service and care that caring hands provides. It's not easy to find elsewhere so don't take it for granted. We were new pet owners and everyone was helpful, patient, and answered any and all questions we had. The wait for Dr. R was never long and he was so patient and had wonderful doggy side manner (I'm making up a phrase here). My pup is skittish at the vet but he and the tech were so patient and helped him feel comfortable before an exam or if he needed a shot. This place is amazing! Everyone from entrance to exit was amazing. The front desk women are amazing! They were constantly interacting the dogs, easing my and my dogs nerves. So much enthusiasm and genuinely amazing customer service. The vet tech we had was amazing! She was so kind and perfect with my very anxious dog. While the vet  was vaccinating my dog she was literally on the floor calming him down and talking and singing to him making my little guy feel better. Lastly, the vet was amazing! Also, on the ground talking to my little guy while checking his temp and ears and eyes. She was so amazing with my dog and sat with my fiancé I and answered every single question I had about my mysterious rescued boy. She didn't rush us at all, and was thorough with answering all our question and did not try to sell us on things we didn't need. Make sure they explain all the charges to you! I brought my dog in for a dental cleaning that turned into an extraction. I'm a pretty smart person- the way it was explained to me was that there were two scenarios, estimate 1 was $450 for just a cleaning and estimate 2 was for $650(cleaning with extraction). NOPE- it's $450 base fee plus an additional $650+ for extractions, pain meds etc. It was over $1000 out the door. Not sure I'll be back here even though I've been a customer since 2009. Read Less

My boyfriend and I recently got our first puppy, Reddington. We chose Caring Hands and couldn't be happier. They were so nice to our puppy and patient with us as we asked a ton of questions! They treated Reddington so well and helped him feel comfortable. He really seems to get excited about the vet! Have tried giving Caring Hands multiple chances over several years and I've always just been disappointed. The biggest issue I've seen with this place is that it just seems like there are too many people working there without enough communication between their staff. Our dog has health issues that require us to order her medicine through 1800petmeds and Caring Hands made this process much more difficult than it should be, or than it was with any other vet. If there's an issue with an order I place, Caring Hands should call me rather than just cancelling the order, never contacting me, and then realizing that they were in the wrong after all and the order should have been approved. If they struggle with something as easy as ordering through an online pet pharmacy, it makes me nervous about other things they're not communicating about in the office. First impression: this office is a nicer facility than MY doctor's offices!We've only been to one appointment so far, but I am very impressed! Brought in our nine week old Husky puppy to get her next set of vaccinations, get her stitches out, and establish as a patient. We had an 8:30 PM appointment on a Thursday night. The staff were competent, courteous, and very friendly. Dr. Campbell explained everything very carefully, and gave us our choices and options - for examples, explaining how deworming seems expensive at first, but when you compare the preventative medicine with the cost of treating heartworms for thousands of dollars, it's worth it. We didn't leave until 9:45 - just sitting and talking with the doctor while she answered all of our questions. They gave us a new puppy folder, full of pamphlets about microchipping, vaccinations, poisonous foods, area resources, etc. This morning, they called to make sure our puppy was doing okay, which is a great service touch.  We look forward to coming back! We started using the clinic in Clarendon and absolutely love everything about it. The clinic is clean, they provide doggie treats, water, blankets, and yellow ribbons for owners to signify their dog needs space. The front desk employee, David, is very nice, friendly, and was able to answer all my questions. The vet techs/assistants, Matt and Heidi, are amazing. Matt took care of my chihuahua, Marcy, when we brought her in for a teeth cleaning and some extractions. He sent me a picture before the procedure to let me know she was doing ok. I was also given the option to view the cleaning in person if I wanted to see it. I was also told I could visit the back of the clinic to see where she would be taken. When we went to pick her up, he explained everything we needed to know for aftercare. A cool thing they did was make a little packet that showed pics of the cleaning before and after, X-rays, and a chart showing exactly what they did as far as cleaning and extractions. Heidi called me the day after to check on Marcy and was able to answer the questions that I had about the meds. Finally, the doctor Dr. Campfield, called me right after the surgery to let me know how Marcy did and came out and talked to us when we picked her up. She gave Marcy a cute little bandana. Matt gave us a blanket to borrow and return at our follow-up appointment since it was really cold outside. I'm so eternally grateful for Caring Hands' care of my precious baby.  No one is actually from the D.C. commuting area who is on Yelp looking for a vet--I know, I get it, so let me help end your search.  Caring Hands has several locations in the area and I've been to two of them and they were both great, but this review is specifically for the Arlington one on Glebe. EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of the staff was so professional and caring to my dog's specific needs. I was sometimes a little obsessive about my dog and they seemed to get it and were very understanding.  They didn't try to over medicate him, prolong discomfort, and took care of him in an emergency situation when they were overbooked as it was, making for an extra long day for doctors and staff alike. It has taken me a long time to be able to write a review, b/c my little precious died last May, but I owe it to others looking to give the best care to their babies. Caring Hands sent flowers and cards after our dog had passed, which meant more to our family than what they could ever know.  As I stated above, all of the staff are great; Dr. Robinson was especially sweet and understanding of dogs, specifically my little senior, Henry. This is a very nice animal hospital and they really do seem to have caring hands as they treated him gently, pretty him and didn't take his temperature rectally which he absolutely hates. We recently moved across town so we needed to find a vet closer to home very quickly when my dog was having an issue with his ear. We easily got a same day appointment at the regular price, which was consistent with what we were paying at the prior vet. They fixed him right up and he wasn't agitated at all. We had an excellent experience. Dr. Robinson is an excellent doctor. We could tell he loves animals and his job. He was very gentle with Delilah, detailed and took his time with our miniature schnauzer. He offered us several treatment options, gave us the pricing and also suggested alternate options to purchase the recommended medications. He also, provided us with a 3x5 card that detailed the medication instructions. The instructions were also clearly labeled on the bottles. We highly recommend this practice. Our original vet before we moved to the Clarendon location. Wonderful staff and clean facility. We had our dog's teeth cleaned and a broken tooth extracted. Expensive, but everything was explained, and all services were listed in terms of priority. That way we could make the best decision for our dog, while still considering cost. The one thing that I have been slightly frustrated with, is that it can be hard to get an appointment without a lot of lead time. Understandable since this is a popular location. Parking can also be tight since there are a lot of businesses that share the same parking lot.Great animal hospital, we would still be coming to this location if the Clarendon one hadn't opened. Very professional staff at the Centreville location! We took our dog in for an apparent infected tooth. From the time we walked in we felt very comfortable and welcomed. After the evaluation our dog in fact had a infected tooth. The doctor explained that he might need additional teeth pulled due to the infection. They gave us an estimate of the needed surgery which was greatly appreciated. The surgery was a couple of days later in which was very successful. Our dog was very much in "Caring Hands"!!!! After the surgery he didn't want to stay in the kennel so all the nurses took turns holding and loving on him until we could pick him up. As a Director of Sales & Marketing for Hilton Hotels - I have a high standard as it pertains to the service industry; add a beloved dog to the equation and the bar is raised instantaneously.  I had patronized another vet prior to my experience with Caring Hands and I was extremely dissatisfied with the condition of the establishment, the lack of engagement from the staff and the complete disregard for my dog's demeanor as he is a puppy.  Now to Caring Hands and Dr. Robinson:Once entering Caring Hands, the entire staff welcomed both my dog and I, making me feel immediately at ease.  The lobby area is immaculate and if you are a new client, they have your dog/cat's name hand written on a chalk board welcoming them.   Dr. Robinson is thorough in his explanation of recommended vaccination regime, gentle when administering the vaccinations so much so my dog has never even whimpered, and when I ask a question, has always given his transparent expert advice.  I.e. - my dog is a picky eater and he extensively reviewed with me the brands, the benefits, the marketing strategies that specific brands use to promote themselves to the end user (I did mention I was in sales in this review but never to Dr. Robinson - talk about successful client identification) and really what is required for a growing puppy.  Not to mention, he is absolutely phenomenal with my dog!  He always takes time to build rapport with him which I attribute to why my dog feels so comfortable with him.  All that being said: I could not be more satisfied with the level of services rendered until the day after when I receive a follow up phone call asking how my experience was and how my dog is doing. I recently moved about 15 minutes away from Rockville and was looking for a new vet for my pets for a little while. Little did I know my kitty wanted to go to the vet sooner than she needed to and ate some plastic that got lodged in her intestines and needed to be surgically removed. I was able to get a same day, evening appointment which I know are hard to come by. The office is clean and modern and I love the fact that they keep the cat and dog areas separate. The receptionist was so, so nice and seemed genuinely interested and kind to my cat. The tech was nice and respected the fact that her records indicated she is not fond of the vet- so VERY true. The vet, Dr. Streck, was absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough good things about her. She was gentle and thorough, went over everything before it was done to make sure I was ok with it, including an estimate of the cost. But the really amazing thing was that when it was apparent that my cat needed surgery and the doctor had no surgery technicians available, another tech from one of the VA locations offered to drive up to help with the surgery. This is how dedicated they are and I simply could not thank them enough. My kitty is fine now and I will definitely be back with my dog for his annual appointment in a few months. First of all their hours are great. Open until 8 pm on weekdays - so nice. But more importantly they provide great service for your animal friends. Not only do they give a reminder call the day before the appointment, they give a check up call the day after the appointment. If I could give more than 5 stars for this review, I would. Without going into a long story, I ended up at Caring Hands twice this past week, and unfortunately, the 2nd time was to have my kitty euthanized. I cannot even begin to put into words the compassion, the understanding, the professionalism, that was exhibited by the entire staff at Caring Hands. From the moment we walked in the door and gave our name, the girls that greeted us and took us immediately to the room offered their condolences and assistance in whatever way they could. Dr. Ventociila (accompanied by Dr. Neumann), not only made us feel that we were making the right decision, they went at our pace, they explained every detail, they stayed with us, and they even cried with us. They all made the entire, heartbreaking experience, as bearable as it could possibly have been. When the time comes that I am ready to adopt another cat, I will not go anywhere else for their medical care! I had a more than pleasurable experience here at the Arlington location of Caring Hands Animal Hospital. I wasn't at all a bit surprised considering I did extensive research on Loxli's (my cat who is almost 7) new vet before settling here. The reviews speak the truth. They offer competitive rates for the area and offer grade A+ service to their clients. I made out like a bandit with her visit. In all I paid $105 plus some change for 2 shots and an examination. I'm happy to report she has a clean bill of health. First time vet visits get  $25 off their total bill. Yay!Loxli was very content with the way she was handled... or at least to the level a cat can be in an unfamiliar environment. She didn't meow and wasn't upset. Lox is normally very docile and that carried over into her visit with Dr. Kathryn Dennhy. The doctor went over everything she was doing as she was going through the exam. Her assistant was very kind as well and handled Loxli with professional care. I extend the 'professional' term because last time Loxli went to the vet; it was a horrific incident and she hasn't gone back since because of the nightmare we had when we lived in Saint Louis. I have been taking my 2 year old hound mix to Caring Hands in Arlington since I first rescued her as a puppy. The staff is so loving and friendly, that it makes going to the vet a fun and positive experience for my dog. Since my dog likes to eat strange things, we often have to take her to the vet on short notice. Caring Hands is always very accommodating to get her an appointment day-of. I also love how they always call to check on my dog to see how she is doing. I am a first-time dog owner and the staff has put my mind at ease knowing that I have people to call for advice and support when I need it. My Dog Rusty Lee, has been going to Caring Hands for over 9- Years. (Dr. Garcia & Dr. Robinson) only very knowledgeable and friendly. Yes the prices are higher but I would not have it any other way. Rusty has received very good care. Also whenever we have called with questions day or night our calls are retuned.
