Worst experience I have ever had with a veterinary hospital. I brought my dog in on March 8th because I could tell that she had a UTI. I am a licensed veterinary technician and my little dog has had several over the years. My husband and I just moved to Ashburn and didn't have a vet yet. They ran an in house urinalysis and she did have a UTI. They offered to give me meds to go home with but I wanted a urine culture because her UTI's are generally resistant to the most common antibiotics. Since she recently had elevated liver values on bloodwork I decided (at the vets recommendation) to bring her back on March 11th for an ultrasound to scan the liver and a cystocentis to get a urine sample for culture. I dropped her off at 8am and I was told I could pick her up between 1-2. At 11 am Laura, a tech, called to verify some information. While talking with her it became clear that she had no idea we were doing a liver scan that day. She only knew about the cystocentis. If I hadn't happened to talk with her she would only have completed half of my dogs appointment! Finally around 4:30, I was able to pick up my girl. They said it would be 24-48 hours before I got any results(that was Monday the 11th). I didn't hear from them with results so on Wednesday I called. I knew my dog had a UTI and was anxious to get her on the right antibiotics. On Wednesday the techs said they didn't have any results. Again no one called Thursday or Friday. When I called on Friday I talked with a tech who was able to list the antibiotics that could work. I picked one because I have worked in clinics and was comfortable with the choice. However, I think it is incredibly unprofessional that a doctor did not speak with me about the results. That never would have happened at any of the clinics I have ever worked for! It is now March 18. Ten days since her first visit and one week since her ultrasound and cystocentis- I still have not spoken with a vet about her results or her ongoing care. It's noteworthy that they actually had the results of the ultrasound and the urinalysis the next day (I know this because I asked for a copy of each and the lab dated the completion). She could have started her antibiotics Tuesday rather than Friday. As I mentioned I have worked in clinics and emergency veterinary hospitals over the years and I have never experienced such an absolutely pathetic lack of care. They literally failed at every point in the process of caring for my girl.  I don't know if they take on more than they can handle, have bad management, have awful communication or just don't care. I do know that I cannot trust them with my pets care and I will not return. Read Less

Stream Valley has a staff that really cares. Their examinations are thorough; their vet techs are knowledgable; emergencies taken care of promptly; front desk staff very pleasant;  but most of all,  my animals don't fear coming  to Dr. Mary's!!!  I've read some comments about some fees being high --- we've been coming to Stream Valley since 2003 and have never been overcharged.  If you're having xrays, blood work,  etc., of course the bill is higher than usual.  For the best care, do you ask your physician, "how much" before getting care for yourself? The Best Veterinary Hospital in Loudoun County VA.We have a 19 year old cat (Cleopatra) which in the last 5 years Stream Valley has been providing Outstanding Veterinary care.   Originally we had 2 Cats but prior to Stream Valley which was due to the incompetence of the other hospitals in the area he passed away I won`t say any more regarding that.   Cleopatra has had a few health challenges since Stream Valley has taken over her care. With that said stream valley has been extremely great in their recommendations, Care, services and follow up, Their expertise in veterinary care is outstanding.Note: Regarding the negative posts I have seen we also have had challenges with certain individuals at the front desk prior to about a year ago, This has changed for the better,  I will says that for the past year we have been totally Satisfied with this hospital I will recommend this hospital. They squeezed me in last minute when I needed to bring my cat in for shots and a nail trim. I expressed how important it was because I'd be watching my nephew and didn't want Phanty to playfully scratch him!!! The Dr. also is helping me get a healthy diet routine for him being overweight. If you have 3+ hours to waste you could consider this place. The veterinarians are very nice and knowledgeable but the assistant was extremely unprofessional and downright clueless. Had to remind her of nearly everything 2+ times. Forgot my dogs medicine and didn't even have the right sized clippers for my chihuahua. Would definitely not recommend and will not be returning. This is a horrible institution. All of my interactions with the staff, including the vets and managers, were incredibly disappointing. At the time of my appointment, everything felt very thrown together and disorganized. I forgave this as they seemed like a very small, unstructured vet office with minimal formality due to a lack of strong management and/or policies. I walked into one of their rooms and I could tell the vet tech had no idea what she was doing. She seemed very unsure of herself and I didn't feel comfortable having someone who seemed incompetent taking care of my pet's records. When the vet came in, she was very pushy about vaccines and medications that were not mandatory. It was overall very unprofessional and I didn't feel like my puppy was getting the best care. (Original review posted on Yelp in 2017) My husband and I moved to Ashburn and we wanted to find an exotics vet for our rabbits. Stream Valley's website indicated that they offer exotic pet services and they were only 10 minutes away from our home, so I brought in one of my rabbits for an exam before doing a spay. Before, we took our other buns to Pender (one passed, one still living), but now that it's pretty far we thought this place would be just as great. I was wrong... I'm used to seeing my buns have a thorough exam, getting everything checked out. The Dr. only felt around the body, stomach and joints, listened to her heart and lungs, took a quick peek inside the ears, just eye balling it. At Pender, they also used a scope to look inside the mouth to make sure the teeth aren't over growing and inside the ear to make sure there's no build up deep inside. What really got to me was that the Dr. told me she isn't an exotics specialist, and that she usually only does spay/neuter for small animals a dozen times a year. I appreciate the honesty, but exotics require specialists and experts for a reason...If you have an exotic pet, I implore you that you go to an actual specialist. The facility is across from a school and basically in a residential neighborhood. It looks like an older one level home that's been expanded, but it still looks really run down. Inside was really drab and dirty looking, and the exam rooms were tiny. There was no privacy as the walls are paper thin and you can hear all conversations going on very clearly. The place was just cluttered with boxes which they seem to store stuff at every nook and cranny. When I checked out I had them remove the fecal test that they tried getting me to prepay. I don't intend on returning, so I had them remove that from the invoice before paying. It was really cheap at $48 for an exam and I've learned, you get what you pay for. It is ridiculously cheap, but are you really willing to cut costs at the expense of your pet's health?? I'm not. As soon as I got home I scheduled an appointment with Pender. Even tho it's far and a lot more expensive, I know my bun will be in good hands. Read Less

Stream Valley is great with my dog and the staff is very friendly. However, I feel that they are unorganized when it comes to my dogs file, the offered pet portal, and when I attempt to schedule appointments on line. I do not mind that we pay a higher cost for anti stress vet services, but I do feel that for the cost the front desk/office organization should be improved. In addition, my pet portal always has reminders for pet preventives and duplicate information under records. After informing our vet tech, our pet portal information was not updated. I must say that utilizing the pet portal is over-whelming, because the office does not get back to me after providing them my preferred method of contact when requesting an appointment. And instead of making it easier to understand what my dog needs, I have to I remember what my dog needs by keep notes myself. Read Less

We boarded our dog here for 10 days and recently went back for a booster shot. I can't say enough nice things about this place. The staff is so kind and caring and treated our dog so well, he even came back happier and better behaved. We will definitely be visiting again. Their boarding prices are quite fair, also! Read Less

We have been going to Stream Valley for a little over a year now. We have 2 dogs and one is a senior. We have had many experiences with them the past 6 months. Dr Corey has taken us each step of the way and we could not feel more loved by her and her staff. Kelsey Hockenbury (CCO) was kind enough to remember us and sent us rebates for the one medication that we have had prescribed to us. Without asking for it, she did this wonderful thing. Three months ago on a trip to Ohio, our 14 year old 7# yorkie-poo developed an extremely serious case of congestive heart failure. In a panic, I called Stream Valley and was fortunate enough to get Dr. Corey on the phone (at 6:00 pm). She immediately got online and found us a vet near our location that was still open. The vet in Ohio dealt with the emergency and saved our pup. Dr. Corey has kept him not only alive, but thriving since then. Without her guidance and concern for our little man, I have no doubt we would have lost him in Ohio. Sadly, we lost our other pup a week after we got home and in that case, Dr. Signorino was a rock star helping us get through such a difficult decision. First visit yesterday. The staff from the front desk, to the vet assistant, to the Veterinarian were amazing! Our 18 month old cat has always been a disaster at the vet and for nail trimming. Last week, we had to do the unthinkable. Our beloved GS, Mikayla, suddenly became intensely ill and we had to rush her over to Stream Valley early in the morning. Within just a couple of hours, we were faced with a gut-wrenching call to spare Mickey any more suffering and let her go. I cannot put into words the compassion, support and clarity in which we were guided by our doctor and the staff at Stream Valley. We were allowed to grieve and we were allowed to say goodbye. When KK took her final breath, we were stunned. And, instead of dealing with bills and paperwork, their process is to manage that later and let us leave and go deal with our sadness. It is exactly what we needed while in such a state of shock. To the staff at Stream Valley, THANK YOU for always being so wonderful under better and "normal" circumstances, but we feel so grateful to have the correct support and care while facing the loss of our sweet girl, Mikayla. I have been using Stream Valley since I moved to the Ashburn area 10 years ago for my dog, Cosmo. I always thought they were thorough when it came to his care. But in the last six months, Dr. Corey has gone above and beyond to help us manage Cosmo's diagnosis of stage five lymphoma. She has worked with us in conjunction with the Veterinary School of Virginia Tech to provide the best care possible for him. She seems to have the utmost concern for his well being while trying to manage his illness through chemo and other medicines. Absolutely incredible facility! Very personalized experience and they go the extra mile. I have my 5 month old puppy in daycare and was so pleasantly surprised when they provided a "report card" with photos of her playing with two of her new friends! I saw the rave reviews so I called to inquire about the costs and make an appointment. I spoke to one of the Veterinarians herself. She quoted me the exam fee and medication for my cat's problem. When I got there, they added on cleaning fees, microscope fee, and a medical waste fee! And of course, they wanted to vaccinate my pet 2 months early, for our convenience. This is why people go on the internet to order medicine and try to self treat first. What a joke! Read Less

Stream Valley has been a wonderful and caring place for our cat. Recently, our cat was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. The entire Stream Valley team has been incredibly supportive in providing hospice care. Both Dr. Signorino and Dr. Kirk are very compassionate and have taken extra time explaining end of life choices to me and my 10 year old daughter. I know our cat has received the very best care possible. I look forward to working with them again when we adopt our next cat. Read Less
