I am beyond disappointed with this practice. I have been a loyal customer to this practice for 4 years. I have 3 dogs and a cat and have spent thousands of dollars here. We sent our 15 year old senior dog here this week after he was not feeling well, they sent him home to us with medications in worse condition than when he walked in there. He had to be carried to the car. 15 minutes after returning home he collapsed. When I called back to tell them what had happened, they advised I take him to the emergency veterinary office. He passed away at the emergency vet a few hours later. When I called to let Ashland Veterinary know, I also asked if they would allow me to return the medications that they had sent home with him ($200). All medications are unopened. The front desk staff were very nice about processing this request and compassionate, however it was denied by the owner. I was advised to hold on to it, “in case I need it for my other dog”, who is 3x the size of the one it was prescribed for. I checked the laws to make sure returning RX meds was not something prohibited by law, it is not. It is discretionary to the practice. I will not be returning here with any of my animals, ever again.

I drive from new Kent to this place for my dog. We moved and I tried another vet but realized soon I missed this place. I love Dr Cochrane, she is a good vet that I can trust. I know that anything she recommends is not to get more money out of me but to take care of my dog. She has also diagnosed some rare medical conditions with my dog. We are very appreciative of her.

Just wanted to say Thank you for working our little dog in while we were on vacation and needed someone to look at him. I called and they fit us in before their appointments started. Our dog suffers from itchy skin and was not feeling well and had open sores on his side from licking and scratching and we were not going to be back home for another week. They give him a shot and cleaned up his sores and he is feeling so much better. Great service and very friendly staff!!

1 star is too many for this place. Put a lock on your wallet because they will try their best to empty it. I asked every time for a estimate of the cost and without fail it was way over what I was told. They also treated a kitten I found for ringworm. Kept telling me to come back every 2 weeks to charge me $40 to wait 30 to 40 minutes in room past appointment time to spend 10 minutes shining a black light on her and saying yeah she still has it come back in 2 weeks. After paying for expensive shampoo and dip and countless visits and going as far as shaving her fur off of course cost more then was told, even more then a bigger dog was charged. Finally had enough and stopped going and low and behold all her symptoms were gone. They also said she had a slight heart murmur. Of course that would involve more test and cost. I believe the ringworm was from there. She got it after a few visits there. I found another vet who actually charges what they say and is much more knowledgeable and honest. I will never recommend this place.

No apology from Dr. just reprimanded for calling owners house after hours
My cat was out of phenobarbital but I guess that was ok
Their mistake could have gone into a seizure the next morning while I was at work
I guess that would have been ok. Right Dr.Campbell!!!!?!

We LOVE, LOVE all of the staff and especially Dr. Gretchen!! Every team member is caring and compassionate, including the front desk! The CARE for your animal and treatment as an individual, including the owner is amazing! . We would travel a great distance to take our "Precious" to them! They apply an Adaptil sprayed bandanna to the dogs to calm them down prior to their exam and even gave my dog treats (turkey and cheese) during her exam to calm her down. She has many emotional issues and the team attends to every aspect of one of them. Cannot say enough but to highly recommend this practice to every animal owner!

I've been going here for years, and although all of the veterinarians there are wonderful, and I'm happy to see any of them, Dr. Cochran is our go to Doctor! I LOVE her! She goes above and beyond what any vet has ever done for us, even spending her time outside of work trying to find us help. She is always understanding of our finances and works to find solutions that work for us and our pets, and I never feel pressured into anything by her. The personal care that she gave our lab during his major health crisis was enough to solidify her as our vet for life! When everyone else was telling us to put him down, she gave us hope and worked tirelessly to help him heal. She was also an understanding and compassionate ear when I needed support, and she always feels like a friend. Our new lab came with a host of issues and she has, once again, worked to help find him relief, researching solutions and even contacting specialists. We give her our absolute highest recommendation and are confident that you will find the best care available with this practice!

Ashland Veterinary Hospital has been amazing. When I started taking my pets there in 1985. The staff is always pleasant. Within this last year, I lost my puppy Max in the spring and called the vet to let them know he had passed away, I received a sympathy card comforting me for my loss. One week be for Christmas 2015, I had put down my beloved dog Lucie. We remainder with her during her final moments and even after. The staff was so caring and understanding. Dr. Judy Armstrong Mason was amazing. As well as each member of the staff and I want to tell you all Thank you.

When we moved to Ashland, we called a few veterinary offices in the area to see if anyone could fit our dog in immediately to look at an injury he received during our move. Not only did they squeeze us in right away, but any time we've needed to make an appointment since we've been able to see a vet quickly. The staff is very friendly, they're great at putting our dogs at ease during exams, they're always willing to explain why something is necessary and how they'll proceed, and the charges are reasonable compared to the cost of services at our past vet offices.

Everyone who works here, the Doctors and the Staff, are all really wonderful individuals. They have really helped us out with all of our 4 legged "children" in the past and present. For example, my 103 lb Mastiff/Golden Retriever mix Therapy dog has been suffering really badly with arthritis and muscle atrophy. Over the past month he had gotten worse and I was scared that we were going to have to put him down. I took him in to see Dr. Inge and she examined him thoroughly, did blood work and put him on what I call wonder meds, because now he is back up and running, and getting around like he did 2 years ago. And, he's only been on the meds for 2 days now!!!!! How wonderful is that?!? Kudos to Ashland Veterinary Hospital for all of their help and love for our pets!!!!!

Plus, this hospital gives back to the community through its annual holiday food and supplies drive for pets who aren't as fortunate as others. We highly recommend the doctors and staff. Ashland Vet has taken care of my pets since 1993! The love and attention the staff and Dr.s' show them is proof there is no other place like them. Four years ago I found a sweet dog at the front of my neighborhood who had been hit by a car. As it turns out, both hind legs were broken and he had been shot. Working through the County and Dr. Campbell, we adopted him. Dr. Campbell and the incredible staff cared for him for two months while he rehabilitated. Today, he is smiles all the time and dances when he gets fed. Without the help and care given by Ashland Vet., he would not have survived. We <3 Ashland Veterinary Hospital.

Great vet that takes the time to talk to you and get a good medical history on your animal. My dog needed eye surgery and we used a dog opthamologist to get this done and she called me after his surgery and she does not even work with this vet! She goes the extra mile for your pet, I highly recommend!

I am beyond disappointed with this practice. I have been a loyal customer to this practice for 4 years. I have 3 dogs and a cat and have spent thousands of dollars here. We sent our 15 year old senior dog here this week after he was not feeling well, they sent him home to us with medications in worse condition than when he walked in there. Thank you for providing the requested health records for my dog Kellen. I really appreciate that people went the extra mile to assist me. When I eventually likely return to Virginia one day, I would want to come here for veterinary services, even if I live a distance away. We received high quality and knowledgeable veterinary services here for many years for multiple animals. Thank you.

Ashland Veterinary Hospital has been amazing. When I started taking my pets there in 1985. The staff is always pleasant. Within this last year, I lost my puppy Max in the spring and called the vet to let them know he had passed away, I received a sympathy card comforting me for my loss. One week be for Christmas 2015, I had put down my beloved dog Lucie. We remainder with her during her final moments and even after. The staff was so caring and understanding. Dr. Judy Armstrong Mason was amazing. As well as each member of the staff and I want to tell you all Thank you.

When we moved to Ashland, we called a few veterinary offices in the area to see if anyone could fit our dog in immediately to look at an injury he received during our move. Not only did they squeeze us in right away, but any time we've needed to make an appointment since we've been able to see a vet quickly. The staff is very friendly, they're great at putting our dogs at ease during exams, they're always willing to explain why something is necessary and how they'll proceed, and the charges are reasonable compared to the cost of services at our past vet offices.

Everyone who works here, the Doctors and the Staff, are all really wonderful individuals. They have really helped us out with all of our 4 legged "children" in the past and present. For example, my 103 lb Mastiff/Golden Retriever mix Therapy dog has been suffering really badly with arthritis and muscle atrophy. Over the past month he had gotten worse and I was scared that we were going to have to put him down. I took him in to see Dr. Inge and she examined him thoroughly, did blood work and put him on what I call wonder meds, because now he is back up and running, and getting around like he did 2 years ago. And, he's only been on the meds for 2 days now!!!!! How wonderful is that?!? Kudos to Ashland Veterinary Hospital for all of their help and love for our pets!!!!!

We have been taking our babies to Ashland Veterinary Hospital since 1992. Their quality of care is the best. We trust them completely with the welfare of our cats and dogs. Plus, this hospital gives back to the community through its annual holiday food and supplies drive for pets who aren't as fortunate as others. We highly recommend the doctors and staff. They are good people who are good to our furry companions.

Ashland Vet has taken care of my pets since 1993! The love and attention the staff and Dr.s' show them is proof there is no other place like them. Four years ago I found a sweet dog at the front of my neighborhood who had been hit by a car. As it turns out, both hind legs were broken and he had been shot. Working through the County and Dr. Campbell, we adopted him. Dr. Campbell and the incredible staff cared for him for two months while he rehabilitated. Today, he is smiles all the time and dances when he gets fed. Without the help and care given by Ashland Vet., he would not have survived. We <3 Ashland Veterinary Hospital.

Great vet that takes the time to talk to you and get a good medical history on your animal. My dog needed eye surgery and we used a dog opthamologist to get this done and she called me after his surgery and she does not even work with this vet! She goes the extra mile for your pet, I highly recommend!
