Dr. Jones saw my Papillon because the eyelashes of one eye pressed into the eye. He kindly did not charge me for the visit bc he said his colleague specialized in that. Then Dr. Nelson took care of the small surgery to snip a bit out of the eyelid to raise the lashes. I was concerned that my dog's eye shape would be deformed, but Dr. Nelson did a wonderful job and now my dog will keep the sight in his eye and you can't even tell the surgery was done. Had my buddy (dog), Buster Brown in for a much needed dental cleaning. The staff and the doctor we very friendly and dedicated to his care. Buster is 10 years young and I was a little concerned with the anesthesia and how he would do. Staff was wonderful. I was called before the procedure and after to inform me of my buddy's procedure. I was in the office today to have a "found" kitty spayed. I didn't know anything about the history of the cat. We had taken her to our vet back in King William for shots and to check for a microchip. So we check in today for the first time. The staff were delightful and made the new patent set up easy. A few hours later I get a call to inform me that the cat is spayed. The vet looked at her teeth, decided she was older than we thought and shaved her belly before sedating her. Really a smart move. I've had a great experience with the veterinarians here. My dog is part lab, and since he's getting older, we had to bring him in for a few more exams than in past years. In one case, I wasn't able to stay at the office until he could get examined, but the receptionist just said to drop him off. She said that they would just examine him in between appointments and call me with the results. I dropped him off on my way to work and was able to pick him up during my lunch break - I've never had another vet work so quickly with me. I couldn't recommend them highly enough! Read Less

My daughter found a newborn kitten in the dumpster. She wanted to keep the kitten and had money to take her to the vet. I called for an appointment and they told me they were booked until next week. I explained it was a newborn and needed to be seen before then. They didn't care. I asked it they took walk in's, they said they tried not to. I recently moved to the Blacksburg area and Dr. Jones is hands down, the best veterinarian I have ever had. He greets my pup with hugs and kisses and he doesn't rush through appointments. Before he leaves the room, he makes sure that all of my questions are answered and addresses every one of my concerns. I would spend just about anything to keep my pup healthy, but Dr. Jones has been really great about explaining what is worth spending money on and what my pup can go without. I had to have my dogs rabies vaccination updated and due to us having to move we were not able to take the dogs back to BAC. The nurse and receptionist were very helpful in helping us get the paperwork needed faxed to the clinic we were at, and it didn't take them 5-10 minutes. Been using Dr. Jones and his staff for many years. They are extremely compassionate and their prices are reasonable. I have several cats and taking them in at the same time earns me the multiple pet discount. Always helpful when you are taking care of yearly exams and vaccinations. Although they may night have extended hours, they are great at working you in if needed and they have walk in appointments on Saturday mornings. Read Less

We are new to the area but we have already been here several times to take our 2 cats in. Every doctor we have met has been very kind and helpful. One doctor ( I'm sorry I don't remember her name) pretty much saved one of my cats lives. She told us about a common condition in male cats that can be fatal if not caught in time...and she just happened  to mention the symptoms and told us what to be aware of. Sure enough, one of our cats had all the symptoms and we took him in  in time to fix the issue. If she hadn't told us that, we would not have known what to look for and the signs can be subtle and our cat would have died from our ignorance. So I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU! I was visiting Blacksburg when my dog developed a really infected paw. Blacksburg Animal Clinic worked her in the same day and Dr. Jones was wonderful with her. Can't believe this place has no reviews! Dr. Jones has owned this practice for over 30 years. The decor is kind of old country style with a lot of wood and everything is very VTech and football themed.The front staff was friendly. It only took about 10 minutes to fill out the new patient form and once brought back to an appointment room Dr. Jones came in quickly. Dr. Jones himself is very nice. He cares about not only the pets but their owners as well. He's also friendly and likes to talk a lot.The bill was around $60 for some eye drops and a consultation, which isn't the cheapest ever, but nothing outrageous. Read Less

Dr Jones and the other vets are wonderful. they are always thorough and answer all my many questions. I have been going to Blacksburg Animal Clinic for 30+ years. In fact, there was a time when we had so many pets Dr. Jones would make house calls so we wouldn't have to drag all of them to the office. He is compassionate, kind, trusting and knows his stuff. He does not charge you for unnecessary procedures and he is logical and true to the situation and what needs to be done. My pets are my children and I trust his opinion, next steps, and the reality of the situation 100%. I do not live in Blacksburg any more, but I drive several hours just for my pets to have his care. Unfortunately I have had to go other places due to emergencies and such, the bill has always been ridiculously high and the folks at the other places never have an adequate diagnosis. I usually have to get my pet to a stable condition and drive to Dr. Jones to get the care that is needed. I used Blacksburg Animal Clinic for three years while at Tech. I loved the staff and always thought the prices were fair. My dog did have a stomach condition that was wrongly diagnosed by the staff which was a waste of money until I took my dog to the vet school at VT. However, the rest of the time the staff was spot on and friendly. I have since moved and used two new vets and none of them compare. Read Less
