We love CAH and have taken our dog here since we rescued her over two years ago. Our dog was very sick and almost died when she was a puppy but the doctors and vets took excellent care of her and did emergency surgery to save her life. The vets knew exactly what to do and how to make her better and the staff is always welcoming and helpful. Staff is fantastic-- right from the start with making my first appointment to see the vet.  Dr. Toehill was very informative and caring  about our needs and for our dog. Our corgi tore his ACL and required surgery.  All the options were presented to us without pressure.  Our corgi ended up having surgery with Dr. Ainspan, who was also very caring and informative.  After all the discussions, we felt very comfortable having them care for our dog.  He is home now and doing well.  The surgical fees were expensive- but what is expected and reasonable - no hidden costs.  We had such a great experience at this facility and will continue going there for our dog.  Thanks again for your excellent care! So far CAH has been great to our lil pup! Doctor B can really understand a dog. She'll make you feel comfortable about your visit and everything that may be going on with your animal.It's a bit of a drive for us, but well worth it when you are and your precious animal is treated right.They have a convenient fenced in pet relief area right outside as well as station with bags for easy pick up and disposal of any presents your pet may deposit on the hospital grounds. I was here to bring my dog in for his nails and teeth but while I was in my truck waiting I seen Cheryl, one of thiere employees and she had her uniform on that is how I got her name was snorting something out of a dollar bill. I have been going to Chantilly Animal Hospital for years, and I love them.  They are very personable, and you can tell everyone who works there is really passionate about animals.  When one of my kittens was heaving in a bad way, I took her there just to find out she had FIP.  They were very caring and loving towards her until the end.  One of the assistants even gave me a hug, which was greatly needed at the time. Since getting our dog, we have been going there.  He panics, but they are so warm that he is still shaking but relaxes.  I also love that they have an app that helps me keep track of his immunizations and appointments.  Love, LOVE this place. My cats are enrolled in another health insurance with a major national supplier.  But, we needed them boarded for a long weekend and I knew Chantilly Animal Hospital was a reasonable option.  I figured I would ask them to give both an exam and see if they could help us figure out what was really wrong with each.  What was discovered was a long list of illnesses, medications, necessary tooth extractions, diabetes had returned in one and the other had kidney disease and bad gum disease.  Yes, it was expensive, but really no more than the other provider and, I felt like the veterinarians that work here really are more experienced and caring.  Both docs were able to see us promptly, were very thorough in explaining stuff to us and helpful in making decisions.  The front desk and boarding staff were exceptional and really cared for our animals. We were looking for a vet/kennel closer to us for our senior dogs. I took one of them in for a bladder obstruction, and Dr Tohill and all of the staff were amazing. He is very detailed and thorough, and made sure to answer any questions I had. Of course, there were lots. He's called repeatedly to check on our dog. Chantilly Animal Hospital has been wonderful to us. They treated my foster dog for heartworms and some other issues. He came to us significantly underweight but with his vet treatments and some TLC, our pup put on weight and became a happy healthy dog. We feel in love with him from the beginning and decided to adopt him. Of course we have continued to use Chantilly Animal Hospital for his vet care. Everyone there is very nice and professional. The Dr's and staff at Chantilly Animal Hospital are the best! They've worked with me to determine the best care options for my Great Dane, Zeus. They discovered during a checkup last year that Zeus developed a type of skin cancer. The folks at Chantilly Animal Hospital were able to diagnose it quickly and accurately, perform the surgery to remove the growth, and refer me to high quality specialists for post-surgery care/consultation. Zeus is cancer free and in amazing health for his size/age - Something I credit to the amazing staff at Chantilly Animal Hospital. I was referred to CAH by a friend years ago and I've always been very happy with their treatment of my dogs. The doctors are very personable and my dogs are relaxed and comfortable around them. This Halloween my senior dog displayed some alarming behavior so I put him in the car and raced him up there. Unfortunately he passed away as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. The staff still lifted him out of my car and quickly carried him to the back to see if anything could be done, but there wasn't. The staff was very understanding, patience and comforting while I'll suffered a pretty serious melt down in the lobby. When they allowed me to go back and say goodbye my dog had a soft throw blanket on his body and he looked very comfortable and at peace. I asked if I could have him cremated and the staff handled all of the arrangements. The next day I was horrified when I learned that some crematoriums preform group cremations and that I needed to request a private one. I didn't do that because I didn't know that it was an option. I called CAH to see if I could still make that request and I was told that Dr. Tohill made that request on my behalf (thanks so much Dr. Tohill). They handled one of the worst situations of my life with pure class and my dog was returned to me in beautiful wooden box. I highly recommend CAH. Also, Dr. Bingaman is great with my puppy. My bad luck.  On Veterans Day this veteran attempted to walk into Chantilly Hospital to get our dog the vaccinations Chantilly asked us to update in one of those home mailers. It was 1400 and the lobby was empty..one of the receptionists went into the back to check with one of the vets to see if they could see a walk-in. We came in after our 6 m/o puppy decided to add a bees nest to her walk route. Our regular vet and all other Animal Hospitals in the area were double booked because Mondays are so busy. Who knew?  From the receptionist to the assistant to the vet, every staff person was super sweet to both us and the pup.  After a stressfully stingy morning, it was reassuring and calming to have the staff appear genuinely concerned our pup; they paid her attention with pets and hugs and she fed off their energy wonderfully.  No one treated us like a nuisance for coming in unscheduled, or made us feel silly for being worried, or scolded us for not known how to care for our puppy ::cough our vet cough::  The vet was wonderful in her explanations of our options and gave us the opportunity to make decisions about our puppy!  More than anything, this was so extremely appreciated- I don't even get this level of autonomy with my own doctor visits.  She was informative without being dramatic or pushy. We will be moving our routine visits here, thanks for making a worrisome Monday SO much better!  Mia has returned to being her happy, energetic border collie self! Read Less

The new groomer Angela is fabulous! No joke - every single person that has seen my dogs has said it is their best haircut ever. My dogs are looking and feeling great with their new summer cuts. Angela communicated with me like no other groomer has in the past. I actually got to talk to her before the grooming to discuss what I wanted done. Then she called to let me know how the dogs did, what she did while grooming to take care of our issues, and tips on how to look after a trouble spot on the skin. Angela truly loves animals and her job and it was a pleasure to have her take care of my babies for the day. Also, the dogs were finished much earlier in the day because she is in the office more often than the previous groomers which is better for me and my dogs. CAH has really lucked out with this one! They worked me in the very next day, and provided excellent and compassionate care. Dr. T was absolutely wonderful! My four beautiful, precious Pekingese dogs are the most important part of my life. I trust Chantilly Animal Hospital with their health and well-being without hesitation, and that kind of trust does not come easy for me. My pups have seen Dr. Tohill and Dr. Bingaman, and without exception, both doctors have been extremely kind, patient, and knowledgeable. We've been in for regular check-ups, occasional emergencies (strained back muscles), and a teeth cleaning operation. All went very well. The technicians are consistently warm and welcoming; I recently brought my big boy in for a much-need trimming of his sloth bear claws and they gladly made time for such a mundane procedure during their busy work day. I have been to many veterinarians over the years and can say that Chantilly Animal Hospital is also reasonably priced in this world of skyrocketing medical costs for both animals and humans. They don't try to sell me on unnecessary treatments or packages and I am able to get a 20% discount through my membership in the Pet Assure program. I'm so happy I found this place. Read Less

I've been going to Chantilly Animal Hospital for more than 10 years! It's a bit of a drive from home but well worth it. The vets that have been there longest are the best anywhere. They and the staff are very friendly, caring, flexible, and informative. The "Silver Whiskers program" for older dogs saves you money on routine services and offers unlimited office visits. They recently offered a new dental cleaning service without anesthesia that is safer and much more affordable. I recently had to have my dog put to sleep, and they could not have been more caring and sensitive. I highly recommend them! Read Less

We take our Lab and two cats here. Have been going here for 10 years and started after a recommendation from a neighbor who was equally frustrated with experiences at Penderbrook. Dr Tohill is the best. He takes his time to really listen. He also does not recommend tests at will. He is always willing to talk about the costs of a test, what outcome it will provide and what to watch for if choosing not to take a test. I appreciate a vet that doesn't immediately turn to expensive testing. My dog has chronic issues, and the office always fits us in. We've never had an unpleasant experience with the staff. The technicians clearly love animals and are great with all my pets. If I have a problem, I'm always able to leave a msg and get a return call that day. I'm old, I've had a lot of pets, same with husband, and we have never found a more caring and smart vet as Dr. Tohill. Read Less

The vets and staff are all professional, loving, and understanding. I have used them personally for my pets for about 5 years, and have also worked with them as a volunteer for animal rescues. They treat every animal the same....and every animal gets top notch care. I like being able to call and leave a message for minor issues, and the vets, especially Dr. Tohill, have been quick about returning my calls. Sometimes you just need a little guidance or advice, and don't need to be seen. It is nice that they also understand that. This is a hard review to leave because I think the vet himself was fine and friendly. The office staff on the other hand, not so much. I was a new customer and so while my first visit was okay (and I do appreciate the vet squeezing me in), I received a call the next day (today) that they had made a mistake on the billing. Then I received the wrong information about what could be done to fix the situation. Needless to say I think I will be finding another vet where the entire team is competent.Additional info: to add to the injury of this experience,  I received a call 10 minutes before they were closing (and according to the desk agent they close on the dot) that my dog needed medicine from an intestinal parasite. I could not make it in 10 minutes and they were closed for a long holiday weekend,  which meant if I was not able to get it elsewhere that it would have three days later when she would have been able to start taking her medicine. I've been taking my now 13 year old dog to Chantilly Animal Hospital for the past five years and find this to be a place you can really trust. Both Dr. Tohill and Dr. Doeher are wonderful and the staff has always been very helpful. I'm blown away by the proactive care. When my dog was on antibiotics, Dr. Tohill proactively called a few days in to "check in" and see how we are doing. Three years later we are on another anitbiotic regime which isn't going as well and Dr. Doeher has been extremely empathetic, creative and very helpful. Highly recommend.  Dr. Tohill is a truly caring and knowledgable veterinarian, who takes the time to figure out what's wrong and works with you to talk over and figure out the best plan of action.  I like that he included me in every step of the process, explaining things (why he was going to do a test, what each medicine was for, how long the medicine would work, etc) and going over treatment options.  He had a great way of interacting with me and with my dog, which I really appreciate.  He asked me a lot of questions about my dog's history and behaviors, etc, and took the time to get to know us.  Their prices are more than I'm used to paying where I used to live, but that might just be because everything is more expensive in this area.  The staff and the vet were really friendly and caring, and I felt like I'd been going there for years by the time I left.  They were great. This vet care place, without saying, is incredible.  The staff cares, and the they're top-notch, to say the very least.  Whether it's for live animal care (as we currently do with our dog), or sadly otherwise (as my mother-in-law recently did with her senior citizen cat that it was time to be put to sleep), the vets here truly care about their patients, both pet and people.  It says a lot about a place that when we moved fifty miles away to Winchester, have a ton of vets in the area and in between Winchester and Chantilly, that we'll still make the drive to CAH every time. I have a dog who is estimated to be 19 years old (a rescue) and he has helped pull her through many times. I brought my puppy here today to see Dr. Julia Nagel for his puppy shots and a few questions. I had previously gone to a vet hospital closer to my house, but after a not-so-fab experience, I wanted to go someplace where the vet would be knowledgeable, approachable, and acknowledge my concerns as legitimate (oh and say hello and introduce themselves when they walk in the room before touching my dear sweet puppy!.) So the hospital itself doesn't get 5 stars-- it's in a weird location and a little funky inside-- and the staff had the personalities of turtles. But Dr. Nagel was awesome and totally normal- she was bright, upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable. Turns out she sees patients at other offices too (part of northern va vet associates), so I will probably go to one of the other ones. She asked me about my puppy, how he was doing, what he was eating, if I had any issues or concerns, what training had we done, vaccines + fecal he'd already had, etc. She did a very thorough and careful exam, gave him his shots (with not so much as a whimper from him), and then talked to me about neutering, microchipping, vaccinations, nutrition,etc.  I have figured out I'm officially one of "those" neurotic pet owners and I have definite opinions about specific vaccinations and feeding. Dr.Nagel was supportive of my decisions as a pet-owner, all the while giving me the facts and statistics regarding various options. Also, I'm feeding my puppy a raw diet and I have heard some vets freak out about raw diets-- but again, she remained nonjudgmental & professional.  Dr. Nagel wanted to make sure the diet was complete and provided the necessary nutrition my puppy needs to be healthy. Overall, Dr. Nagel will be seeing us for years to come and I will send all of my friends + yelpers her way.Plus, my puppy adored her =) Read Less

This is by far and away the truest 5 star rating I have ever given. I'd have given this place 7 stars if it were possible.Dr. Toehill is an incredible Vet, who takes time to really make you and your pet feel comfortable. My family has taken three dogs and two cats to him. We've also taken two of the dogs, and both cats to other vets. Our previous Vet (where Toehill started working prior to his own practice) just left us with the feeling that they were more interested in charging you a few than the well being of the pet. Dr Toehill leaves you with the feeling that your pet is a part of his family too. The entire staff is very friendly and professional. It is readily apparent that they are all pet lovers.The only real complaint I have is that they are way out in Chantilly, which isn't convenient for me.
