The office was a little difficult to find other then that everything was great. On both my visits the wait time was very short. The staff and doctor didn't mind explaining procedures and answering all my questions. I felt comfortable taking my dog there knowing they had the latest equipment and highly skilled veterinary ophthalmologists. The office waiting area and exam rooms were modern and very clean. I highly recommend. Read Less

My rabbits got into a fight and one of them, Nigel, sustained a laceration to his eyelid. I brought him to his regular vet, who referred me to Animal Eye Care. They were able to get Nigel in immediately at the Chesapeake office that day. Dr. Mancuso was super friendly, kind, and knowledgeable about rabbits (something every rabbit owner worries about when taking them to a new vet). Both Nigel and I were stressed out from the incident, but Dr. Mancuso was a very calming presence and explained the procedure in terms I could understand. I felt very comfortable putting Nigel in her hands. She stitched up his eyelid and a week later, you couldn't tell anything had happened! She's a wizard! Dr. Nadelstein saw him for his follow-up visit, and he was great, too. He said that Nigel's eyelid healed perfectly. The vet techs/assistants were also really careful and patient when handling my guy (he is not fond of being picked up or held at all), and this really helped keep him calm. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would recommend Animal Eye Care to anyone seeking an eye specialist for their companion animal. Read Less

I absolutely love Dr. Nadelstein. I first met him over 15 years ago when he performed cataract surgery on my totally blind Cairn. When my dog could see after 2 months of blindness, it was one of the most emotional times of my life. Unfortunately, my Cairn had gotten vicious and had to be muzzled each time anything was done. Dr. Nadelstein didn't seem to have a problem and knew exactly how to talk to him so the dog could be muzzled, unlike my regular vet office who insisted I muzzle my dog. When my present Cairn started having eye issues, I knew exactly whom to call. Dr. Nadelstein hasn't changed one bit in over 15 years---still caring and very easy to talk to. I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone who needs an animal eye doctor. Read Less

Receptionist(s) at the Chesapeake office is/are friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. The surgeon was NOT comforting, accurate, nor precise when addressing my questions. Very little discussion. When questions were asked, vague responses were given. Very cold, sterile atmosphere and climate when speaking with surgeon. Appeared to be rushed and not empathetic or compassionate. Ran extra test to charge an additional fee. Next day check up was not performed in a room, but in the lobby. Not satisfied with the attitude of the tech nor the surgeon. My dog died 11 days after surgery. Before surgery receptionist told me they can tell if her sight was restored immediately. After surgery,Surgeon and tech said her sight would continue to improve; when she went back the next day and was examined in the lobby, it took less than 5 minutes. She had an appointment she could not go to because she was dead. I asked for a refund for that already paid for visit and was denied. I was told if I had unopened medication I could bring that for a family who may have difficulty paying. Wow!!! You use the medication immediately; so what is unopened? Totally dissatisfied with the treatment and results of the Chesapeake office..... Read Less

My experience is with the Virginia Beach office on Lynnhaven Parkway. Dr. Nadelstein and his staff are great. My dog had a uveal cyst in her eye, and Dr. Nadelstein disintegrated it with a laser successfully. He thouroughly explained the origin of the cyst and the treatment procedure to me at the first consultation. My dog was well cared for, and she's fine now.
