Just walked out of this vets office after being a loyal customer for over 20 years. We got 2 rescue dogs recently and while waiting for their nails to get clipped, one of the male Drs walked out in front of my pit mix and my dog barked at him. Barked. Did not lunge or act like he was going to attack and one of the receptionist lost her da×× mind. Demanded we take our 2 dogs to the far end of the room and wait in the corner. When I hesitated she snapped in a loud , " I mean It!" Well, I mean It too. You acted like we brought vicious dogs into your office and let them intimidate your customers. Why didn't you ask any of them if they were afraid . In my opinion, you are a racist ass and I will not subject my sweet dogs to your hatefulness and prejudice. Brenda Waters Read Less

Just moved here and found this vet after a referral. Nice helpful staff.  good friendly doctor. We are going here bc they do all services including grooming and boarding. I am content with vet services and Med rates. I am ok with boarding rates. I had our dog groomed washed trimmed and nails clipped. Good job! BUT the charge was $105... I am  used to about $40 less. I checked  other places since and this cost is very high. I WILL keep going but will never do  grooming and cuts here again. Read Less

Over charged $73 for service that wasn't authorized. They said they could possibly credit the $73 to me if I had my dogs surgery there. After filing a dispute with my bank Deep Creek Veterinary Hospital called me with a attitude saying they'd refund the money since I filed a dispute with the bank. So after the hassle of all this, I am still out $65 for the consultation that is useless as I will never use their services due to their shady business practices and lack of customer service. I wonder how many other customers have experienced similar things but never made a dispute. Deep Creek Veterinary Hospital is the absolute BEST, they have taken care of all my fur babies for the last 36 years. I love the staff and consider them family. My babies have always been excited to go there whether it's an office visit/procedure or to be boarded. I would highly recommend them and have many times over. I took my dog there over the summer. She is 10 years old. She develop some type of skin condition and other than that was in perfect health. I was charged nearly $500 for a bath, a Veterinary check-up, a bottle of shampoo, in the ear drops that I was told she absolutely needed. I love my dog so I paid it. I was told to go home and bathe her twice a week with the shampoo which would fix her skin condition. I want to preface all of this by indicating that it took almost ten hours for me to find this out, because although I have left two phone numbers and ask them specifically to call me as soon as the doctor saw her, it never occurred. I had to call back on three separate occasions, the first and second she had still not been taken back several hours after being dropped off in the morning. Fast forward three weeks, the shampoo has done nothing but waste time and water. Condition is considerably worse. I take her back in for a follow-up and a bath, assuming that perhaps it's something I'm doing. Skin condition is no better, and they check her ears as a courtesy and no better. Told to continue treatment. Fast forward two more months I give them one more chance. Treated very rudely on the phone when I call in several hours after dropping her off, because they've " been trying to call me". They have the wrong number on file. Interesting that it's taken three visits to determine this. I pay another hundred dollars to be told that they don't know what she has and that if I want to send her to the specialist for a thousand plus dollars they can find out. I take her to a vet in Kempsville the next day who prescribes her Ivermectin, says nothing is wrong with her ears at all and that it is just tissue growth and we've been wasting our time with drops and antimicrobial shampoo for her skin. I start treating her with the medicine and she's noticeably better two to three days later, and by the end of the medication the problem is gone completely. Largest frustration? I asked Deep Creek Veterinary about this medication because it was a similar problem that she had had as a puppy nine or ten years earlier. That's what I was giving the sales pitch for all the other things they wanted me to purchase. Very frustrating experience. Felt like I was at a used car dealership not a vet's office. Do you want the clear coat do you want to Tire protector, ETC. Long story short cost me approximately $600 for my dog to be miserable for 4 months, and it cost me $53 to have her fixed elsewhere. We are new to the area and our cat became ill and we took him here (it was a Saturday and got in same day which is awesome).. However the wait was ridiculous. My husband spent over 3 hours there and my cat was severely dehydrated (among other issues) , and they couldn't help him with any kind of fluids (even under the skin ones) cause "it was too late in the day". We paid our outrageous bill and we're "referred" on to an emergency clinic. We got him fluids and that instantly helped him for the mean time. We did end up losing our sweet guy a few days later. I have an 8 month old shih tzu I've had since he was 6 wks old. Charlie is up to date on all of his vaccinations and check ups. He didn't have a regular vet per-say besides the place I took him for shots. Well Charlie was not feeling well and I was searching all over to get him seen. I called Deep Creek Vet Hospital and they got me an appt immediately to see my fur baby. With my work schedule I thought I was going to be late and when I called the receptionist was so accommodating and insisted I still come in (5-10 late) she would hold my appt. When I got there the customer service was awesome and the place is clean. Charlie was checked out by the Dr. who was very attentive and informative. I'm very happy I came here, Fortunately I live on the same road as this hospital which makes it that much more of a plus they are a very good team of animal care givers. I also boarded Charlie for the first time as well and again had zero issues. I love my Charlie boy and super glad I gave this a try. Now my one stop for Charlie's needs. My family and myself have been going to DC Vet for 18 years and I wouldn't choose ANY where else to take my children. I have heard of a lot of bad things happening at other veterinarian clinics but I have never had a bad experience nor have I ever heard anybody having a bad experience at this facility. Dr. Taylor is the most amazing vet you could ever have. He as well as the staff are friendly, caring, courteous and most importantly passionate about what they do here. Your pets needs is ALWAYS first no matter what. People may complain about the price some times but I believe it to be very reasonable considering other practices. When you have pets you have to take care of them regardless and you want the best care for your children and this is why I choose Deep Creek vet. Extremely unprofessional front desk staff. Called in regards of boarding my dog over the 4th, gave the receptionist the weight of the dog and she said yes there was room for her. As soon as she asked the breed the tone changed completely... Breed: Shiba Inu- after being questioned twice by her because she didn't believe I had an 18lb Shiba (which is a normal weight for them) she went onto saying the kennels they have are above their heads and they would have to lift her up. I proceeded to tell her that was no problem at all. She then tells me Shiba's in the past have been crazy and that my dog might flip out being lifted up apparently like another Shiba did at one point in their practice. I told her my 5-year-old Shiba has no behavioral issues and she replied, "Well that's what other people have said before too" and proceeded to laugh. So I said basically you are telling me she cannot stay? She said yes.. Individuals who work at a vet office should be trained to handle ANY type of animal whether it be a Yorkie or a Great Dane. Denying boarding to someone based off of a past experience with another animal really makes me question them as a vet practice and wonder how they handle aggressive dogs. Do they just deny breeds that are "potentially" aggressive service? Based off of this phone experience I would never recommend this place to anyone. Questioning customers knowledge, laughing at them and denying service because of a past situation with a completely different dog is unacceptable. I took my new French bulldog puppy Gilbert last week to see dr. Bryan! My experience was wonderful! I was very pleased with the fact that when I called at 9:00 am they were able to give me an appointment at 1:00. 2 other vets I called in the area never even answered the phone!!Bobbi answered and was very pleasant and knew who I was when I came through the door!!The waiting area was clean and big. Everyone adored Gilbert and loved him up! They had an emergency that came in while we were waiting so my appointment took longer than expected, however, the staff along with Dr. Bryan were very apologetic and threw in a free ear cleaning and mite check for the inconvenience! I was really impressed by the level of care that my dog, Hooch, has received from Deep Creek vet, Dr. Taylor and his team. Hooch has a broken leg, we were going to a different vet, but switched vets. Dr. Taylor took the time today to tell me exactly how he had done Hooch's splint, and how he cleaned his leg (he had dead fur and oil build up, especially between his toes, and an owie on his elbow). Also exactly how he had assessed the callus buildup (a good thing) around the fracture. He addressed every concern that I had. I'll start with saying I'm a huge cat lady. My cats are my babies. As I type this they're being taken care of. Both of my cats have colitis and they're a mess. I, of course, was freaking out. As soon as I walked in I was helped. Quick paperwork. The place is clean and professional. The techs are so helpful and friendly. You can tell that animals are their passion. The doctor, who's name I'll get when I come to pick up my babies, was amazing. Helpful with pricing (because damn! The vet is expensive) and she truly understands animals. Everyone was so attentive and helpful. I can't explain any more how grateful I am to have chosen this vet. Best believe this is where I'll be taking my fur babies from now on. Read Less

Took my dog here for an emergency c section. Ended up losing 2 puppies in the process. Told me everything else was ok. This was a Wednesday night. Went back on Thursday for check up, we were told things look good. Went back Friday night to get puppies tails docked and the female puppies tail looked like a 3rd grader did it. The vet told us that he was embarrassed on the tail looking so bad. They did a check up on the mama dog (still friday night) and said no fever, she should be ok. She is not eating, but drinking water. If she get worse bring her back. SHE DIED SATURDAY NIGHT and NOW WE HAVE TO BOTTLE FEED 2 PUPPIES. WHAT DO I DO NOW........... Read Less

We adopted and were adopted almost three years ago by the most beautiful Norwegian Mountain Forest Cat, and of course the first thing we did was take her to a local (Chesapeake) veterinary.  They immediately started telling us that since she was over three she needed to have her teeth cleaned and that would be between 800 and 1000 if she needed to have one pulled, and she needed this and that and this and that.  And this was directly after I told them that I was unable to find work so we would need to keep out expenses basic.  I was so upset that we left and didn't go back.THEN we found Deep Creek Veterinary Hospital, and WHAT a difference!  They listened and understood about money being tight.  They examined her, and said that she was healthy with clean teeth (grrrr - no need to put her under and spend $1000 after all), and they taught us how to handle her extremely long fur.  Dr. Dove is so sweet and easy to work with.  I LOVE these people.  They are priced well, and it is obvious that they love animals Read Less

This place came recommended by one of my mother's colleagues for her to take her sick cat to.  Since my mother had to work, I took her cat to Deep Creek Vet Hospital and let me tell you that these are the nicest vets I've met thus far.  The staff here is friendly, they are knowledgeable and for the most part averagely priced.  Unfortunately, my mom's cat had to be euthanized the same day I took her in, but the staff and the Vet (Dr Dove) and Vet Techs were so kind and caring that it made a very difficult and emotional situation a bit less so.  I have 3 cats...
