Go anywhere else but here. We took our dying cat here to be euthanized in what we hoped would be a soothing and comforting environment. Instead, they took our cat to some room, did something to him, and when they brought him back to us he was howling and terrified. Our pets are our kids, we had Sam for 13 years and his last hour with us was with these despicable people. So sorry we brought him there. We'll never forget this. They knew we were upset at this and offered no explanation or assistance . Rude and disingenuous staff who just wanted us to be processed and out. We will never return. Read Less

Wonderful people! Awesome Vets! They stitched up my Yorkie after he had been attacked by a big dog. It doesn't end there, they took time to explain what they had to do to get the wound prepared for surgery. My thanks goes out to all the Vets working there. They take the time to pass along information to incoming Vets. Each and every Vet there was on top of what was going on with my baby boy, who is 12!! Yes, a bit expensive, but I thank God they were there for me. I would have lost my little man had they not been there for me. Thank you team! As a self-proclaimed reviews-freak, I was very nervous about bringing my dog here because of the poor reviews; however, I was extremely satisfied with the service we received. The receptionists were so friendly, which goes a long way for scared owners with very sick pets. My dog has a mass/probable tumor on her liver and I had to bring her to the appointment alone, as my boyfriend had to work at the time. We are very new to Virginia and I traveled down from Hampton with my super lethargic pup to see a specialist. The staff were all very kind and doted on my sick little girl, putting us both at ease. I took my cat here because she was having labored breathing and the regular vet was closed.I waited 6 hours and paid over 400 dollars for no results. I was repeatedly told my cat was in the oxygen room and responding well, but during the whole wait, was unable to see her. When I finally saw the doctor, she told me my cat would need x-rays too take a look at her chest.I consented and the x-rays were done, but the doctor said she couldn't interpret them and needed a radiology consult. She said my cat could have cancer, asthma, cat herpes,a respiratory infection, or an enlarged heart. The doctor recommended more tests and a hospital stay involving internal medicine, with a quote that started at 1700. When I told the staff I did not want the extra radiology consult and wanted to take my cat home, I was informed that the radiologist was "suddenly"on the phone, saying they could not properly interpret the results, and again, a hospital stay and more test were needed. I demanded my animal back, and paid the total, including the extra charge for the radiology consult that I did not want, and tearfully took my cat home at around 2 am.On the way home, I realised I had been scammed.I waited 6 hours and paid so much money for my cat to be on oxygen, with no other care. The doctor never addressed my concern about whether my cat was having a reaction to a houseplant. The doctor never answered any questions, and I never had the opportunity to see my cat or observe her with the doctor being examined, as you would a regular vet.My cat is fine, although they told me if I took her home she would be worse off.I am so upset and I am upset for the other clients that obviously went through the same type of ordeal. I will never do business or recommend anyone taking their pets to this hospital. Read Less

Let me start off by saying y'alls desk employees are so great & understanding. I was a blubbering mess when I brought my baby Jasper in. He was vomiting blood & tiny pieces of what looked like plastic, swaying back & forth, couldn't keep his balance & was trembling like a leaf. I explained his symptoms to the desk girls, they wrapped him in a towel for me & we were in the back within 45 minutes. Now here's where I get a little upset with the doctor who treated my puppy. She insisted to me many times that she had seen this before & was sure he had eaten some marijuana. This was after she made a comment about the grateful dead 13 point bolt charm on my dogs collar & after she asked me where I worked (which is a localhead shop). So under the assumption that because of my job title that I smoke marijuana she wouldn't hear anything else. Funny part about all of it is, if I thought he'd eaten my stash I sure the hell wouldn't have taken him to the vet. & the even funnier part about it is, I don't smoke marijuana. I use completely legal cbd products, which I give to my dog to combat his car anxiety anyways. I reassured her there was nooo way he could've gotten into anything like that, & she completely disregarded me & informed me to call animal poison control which I did & got charged a $65 fee for them to tell me I must've fed my dog marijuana, again. At this point I'm just disgusted & frustrated & tell them to just help him whatever they have to treat him for just do it. I ended up having to leave him over night which broke my heart even more. In the end he is alive & well, just really worn out from being forced to throw up a few times. But they took good care of him. When I went to pick him up even more sweet desk ladies. But the best part is, on his diagnoses sheet it states "suspected marijuana intoxication" like are you kidding me? Really though? Then under the part about his blood work it stated his blood came back normal, nothing out of the ordinary or toxic like marijuana. I'll probably never bring my baby back here again, he was treated well but I was accused of being an idiotic pet parent & allowing my year old puppy to eat marijuana. Y'all need to rethink the way you handle customers. Especially when they're as upset as I was. & BTW, if there was even any way he could've eaten some weed, I surely wouldn't have footed a $900 bill for y'all to induce vomiting. I would've let him sleep it off & eat as much food as he wanted. Which would've been much cheaper. Read Less

My husband Brought our dog in on a Sunday. Told them she was having breathing problems & she was lethargic. They Quoted him $300. They ran X-rays and they said they didn't find anything. They ran multiple expensive and unnecessary tests afterwards for more money. They came back to him and said it was going to be of $978 and If he didn't leave her over night, she would die.(scare tactic) In the morning they wanted to charge $33 more but not sure why. They kept running test until we said we didn't have anymore money. MAGICALLY, they found results from the X-rays they ran initially !! It was pneumonia (which is what we suggested when we brought her in and they told us we were wrong) All along the front desk women were RUDE, condescending, and even made open jokes about foolish people( referring to us) I had to demand to speak to a vet! I wanted answers! Amazingly that's the only way we got them to stop running tests and give us our dog back! They are money hungry! Never an apology for bullying us into the unnecessary tests! Never an apology not catching the pneumonia the first night! THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!! They take advantage of people!!! We will be contacted all authorities to report their malpractices!!! THEY PREY ON THE LOVE PEOPLE HAVE FOR THEIR PETS!!!! Vet board, attorney general, and anyone we can find will be notified!!! Read Less

And that doesn't even account for the spike in cost since Blue Pearl took over the existing business. Read Less

Incredibly poor communication, unorganized staff and procedure, unfair pricing for quality of service received, and no indication of the root cause after 8 days of "investigation". The cause was identified and treated in a total of 1 hour by a second opinion doctor the same day I took my cat from blue pearl. The second doctor performed a blood test, urinalysis, ultrasound (which I was willing to pay $417 for but was denied at blue pearl), prescribed medication, and offered a free follow up with virtually no wait time to see the doctor. I declined the option to euthanize my cat 3 times at blue pearl, was charged 4000 for 8 days of ineffective medication and treatment, and was told my last option was surgery. I called the surgeon in Richmond, and was told they don't know why blue pearl would recommend this with no indication on the records that it was a reasonable option whatsoever. After realizing the dishonesty and inaccuracy within blue pearl, I sought a second opinion and was lucky to find a doctor with the knowledge and character to do his job properly. For $192 dollars, my cat was sent home with medication and a diet plan. 24 hours later he was able to urinate on his own, his bladder walls were no longer a centimeter thick, and he was running around like his old self. I would have been better off researching treatment myself than taking my baby to blue pearl.Read Less

My husband took our sweet 14 week old puppy to the emergency vet after he had a significant appetite loss for several days. He had the pleasure of working with several technicians and Dr. Capp who diagnosed our sweetheart with Intussusception. He left our puppy there to remain on IV fluids and came home to talk to me about our options. We decided to proceed with a costly surgery and Dr. Capp answered my many questions on the phone. Not once did she display any exasperation and she was incredibly patient as I tried to come to grips with the medical condition and the cost to treat it. Our puppy went into surgery immediately around 1 am and Dr. Capp called when it was over to update us. Our puppy stayed overnight and the wonderful staff called us with updates regularly and I felt content knowing that our puppy was being cared for. Two days after being home our puppy lost a staple. We returned here late on a Sunday night and I saw first hand how the staff dealt with incredibly ill dogs and their owners who were beside themselves. Our situation was not a matter of life or death and we understood the gravity of the dogs waiting before us. Nevertheless, we had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Howland who rendered exceptional care to our puppy and answered all of our questions and concerns. His bedside manner is remarkable and his love for this career was palpable. The same can be said for all of the technicians and assistants that we came in contact with that night. Outstanding is too weak to define the service that we've recieved here. We hope to not have to return once the staples are removed but will not hesitate to return if another actute situation arises. A million thanks from my husband, myself, and our precious Weimarainer Jake. Read Less

I promise it takes a lot for me to complain about something. I am usually very easy going and I try my best to be mindful of the situation that is presented. We were referred by our local vet to the Greenbrier location and drove an hour and a half on a Friday evening from North Carolina due to our sweet pup experiencing Acute Liver Failure. Anyone who is taking their baby to the emergency vet is naturally overcome with so many emotions. BEDSIDE MANNER is CRUCIAL during this time! Having had previous experience with Dr. Feiste (she saw my mom's dog, charged her over $3,000 and the dog passed away 2 days later), I was less than happy when I saw her face walk through the door. Her bedside manner leaves much to be desired and without running ANY tests on my dog, I was presented with an estimate of $2500-$3600. I wanted to scream "my dog is in liver failure, hook him up to an IV and we will worry about all the other diagnostics LATER". At this point she was trying to get us to do numerous amounts of testing with an initial diagnosis of Pancreatitis. Having knowledge in the medical field, I requested that she run an IN HOUSE SNAP test to rule that out before running ALL the other tests she wanted to run. After that she didn't step back into the exam room. Not even once. Her tech referred us to the Town Center location and Dr. Feiste herself couldn't even come in to tell us WHY they were sending us to ANOTHER Emergency vet at 11pm. We were exhausted, tired, scared, and worried. I work in a field where bedside manner is EVERYTHING. I know how crucial it can be to show kindness when someone is at their worst. I wholeheartedly understand that she deals with critical conditions everyday, but perhaps the emergency field is not for her. Our overall experience with her was the WORST. If you need an Emergency Veterinarian, avoid Dr. Feiste at all costs. She broke our spirits and left us feeling deflated. We are so happy to have our pup back at our local vet with Drs. who CARE about their patients. Kindness is key and it can go a long way.Read Less

This was the first time I've had to bring one of my dogs to an emergency vet. I wasn't pleased with the wait. The girl who worked the front desk was the only nice person there. The veterinarian was rude. When I mentioned that that I wasn't able to pay too much BC I was out of work sick all week, I also explained that I wasn't able to get care credit she said now you see why we don't do payment plans. She was also rude when I was checking with my friend on the phone to see if he's seen if she was eating and drinking since she asked. So the vet said she'll just come back when I can stop playing on my phone. I was worried about my dog and the cost and she didn't seem to care at all. The nurse who came in last wasn't very pleasant either when I was asking questions. My dog ended up having pneumonia. I paid a lot of money for xrays and medicine. If I would have known this was how we were going to be treated I would have taken my money elsewhere. Never again will I take any of my dogs there.Read Less

Read Less

Total crap! The discharge summary did not list all the medications, had the wrong pet's name and provided totally different information about medications. The medicine container says to give every 72 hours (that the tech dutifully read to us) while the discharge instructions said one every day. Big difference. And that doesn't even account for the spike in cost since Blue Pearl took over the existing business. Read Less

My husband and I would like to thank the staff for being so kind, caring and compassionate while our Baily was being evaluated. They never left her side during her last few hours of life. This has been so difficult to say goodbye to our 4 your old lab. We could not have imagine experiencing our loss with ANY other Veterinary office. We received our card yesterday and their were staff members who took the time to write us a thoughtful message. Our hearts go out to the hard work they put in everyday, 24 hours a day.

Read Less

After waiting 6 hours for my cat to be seen, the vet (Constance Capps) was extremely rude and didnt seem like she wanted to even be there. She gave a lot of information at once and I asked questions when she was finished (just like a normal person would who is concerned for their pet) and she replies "I just explained this to you" ... Well explain it again, answer my questions because this is not my job, my job is to make sure my cat is okay. I should have listened to the reviews and stayed away!!!
