I took our new puppy and old baby for the first time today. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and the dogs were also welcomed. A very nice lady who worked there came and sat down with me while I waited to talk about our new puppy and then recommended their leashes and collars for chewing. The veterinarian was so friendly and took the time to chat before looking over my pets. I felt everything was explained and our puppies will be well taken care of at Hickory!!

Dr Redding and his staff are incredible. How many veterinarians call you personally for updates a day after the appointment ? Beth the office manager is amazing as well. She's been incredibly kind during our boys recovery from surgery. It's nice to have a calm and understanding voice on the other end of the phone when your baby is in pain that can suggest different options with you. They've been such an incredible help with all of our furbabies throughout the years. I would absolutely suggest them. Phenominal people.

All I can say is WOW. The vet and his team truly care about your pet. My dog Hazel come in vomiting blood and pooping blood. They listened to me and were so gentle with her and got to know her until she knew that they were cool humans. Reassured me that they were interested in helping hazel get well again. I'm officially switching vets- this place is so amazing, I'm leaving my old vet. I ended up here yesterday with my very ill cat, as it was closest to my home. Unfortunately, she was unable to be saved due to the severity of what was going on. The staff really helped me through one of the most difficult moments of my life- putting our dear little girl down. The staff did everything they could to make the process as easy as possible on me, even providing a box and a memorial clay footprint. Everyone worked very quickly and efficiently, and I feel they really went above and beyond. Hands down, 5 star experience all around, even under not the greatest circumstances. I will definitely be back.

Today I took in one of our rats who was having severe issues. The entire staff made us feel at home and welcomed us on short notice. Upon discovery of what was an inoperable tumor for his condition, Atlas was put to sleep. He was given excellent care, and when we buried him ourselves, we found that they have even taken the time and consideration to tuck him in his coffin.

I rarely board my miniature schnauzer but recently did so for a week at Hickory Vet. Every time I called to see how Shelby was doing the staff member I was speaking to went to the back room to check for me. I knew how she was eating, which was well and that she went outside easily but was reluctant to come back in. Shelby behaves in a similar manner at home. I will board her there again if necessary.

Dr Redding has been like a savior in my quest to understand what to do about my aging mini poodle. I'm very pleased with the accommodating staff and the amount of time everyone allowed, so I could understand what my pup needed. This is truly the only veterinary clinic where my dog didn't shake violently the entire time during the visit. The atmosphere was so stress free for my pet. I felt that all pet owners present during our appointment were just as pleased. This is truly the best experience for us. Next we will schedule teeth cleaning for my poodle-something I have been avoiding because I wasn't ready to trust anyone with putting him under for the treatment. I believe, he will be in good hands if they are Dr Redding's. Thank you to all the staff!

My dogs and cat have been going to this clinic and using their boarding services since Dr Klemm first opened and I have nothing but praise for the top notch care received there. While no animal actually likes to go to a vet, my guys are calm and confident about their visits and they are treated like friends. Having bred and shown dogs many years ago, and having had many pets all my life, I've been to numerous vet offices over the years and I rank this one at the top!

I couldn't be more pleased with Hickory Veterinary Hospital. I initially tried to make an appointment through their website. It didn't work, so I contacted them via email asking them to call me. I received a phone call from them literally 1 hour later and made an appointment for our kitten. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Tory was great with my kitten and in explaining everything about the visit and what to expect. Dr. Redding was awesome as well. The place was very clean. They have several services including spa treatments, boarding, and others. I can't wait to try those out!

I have been a client here now for 4 years. I have lived in Hampton, Norfolk, and Suffolk in those four years and still choose to drive all the way to Chesapeake to have my pets cared for at this clinic. Both of the doctors are exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable, not to mention personable and truly care about their patients. I love that they are willing to take whatever time is needed to make sure I understand what is going on with my pets and not rush me out of the room. Dr Redding is a huge bonus to me as I also have "exotic" pets and he see's almost any animal you can think of! In addition to my cats and dogs, he has seen my rats, and my snake and I have seen animal from ferrets to birds to Komodo dragons in there! His range of expertise is amazing!The staff is caring and patient and makes the visit worth it whether it's for an annual or for the sad time when an animal is ready to go to the Rainbow Bridge. They will continue to be my first choice for veterinary care as long as I live within range!

Dr Redding is a horrible doctor and I will spread the word to everyone that will listen to never take their family pets to him. He misdiagnosed both of my pets multiple times and if i didn't get second opinions then they would both be far off. He's very rude and inconsiderate of you and can even be considered abusive toward animals with the way he treated my dogs. He's also very rude toward his own employees, I dont know why they tolerate him. Redding clearly did not pay attention in vet school to screw up as much as he does and should have his license revoked to prevent further harm to animals. Klemm, on the other hand, is a fantastic doctor and is the only reason this place is still open.

My Savannah Monitor was very sick and Dr. Redding did everything in his power to nurse him back to health-which wasn't a short and easy process. He was always available to see me at a moment's notice and would even personally call every few days to check up on my little guy. I've lived here for a short time, and I've had to bring my dog in 3 times in 5 weeks, all with entirely different ailments. Hickory Veterinary Hospital got me in quick, the service is happy and warm, and they are very gentle and caring when they handle my dog. My dog may not have taken this move well, but they certainly helped him to feel much better. They're not pushy on treatments or give you a huge slew of expensive options, they just got to the point of what was wrong and took care of it. I highly recommend them.

I have been taking all of my dogs to Dr.Klemm for over 7 years now and the care at his hospital does not compare with any other I have previously taken my dogs to. Dr. Klemm has alway been extremely patient with my dogs and even gets on the floor with them to examine them to help make going to the vet a less stressful experience. His practice seems to have gotten more busy over the past few years and sometimes there is a bit of a wait to see him, however, it is worth it. On 2 occasions there have been emergencies that have come in while I was waiting for my dogs appointment and of course they were seen immediately which made the wait longer than usual but I would expect the same treatment if one of my babies had an emergency situation. I have made some great professional relationships with a few of his staff and always feel at home when I need to take one of my guys to Hickory Vet. I trust Dr. Klemm with my doggies care 100%

Don't go to this vet!! They gave my 16 year old cat Metacam, a drug for dogs, after dental surgery and failed to tell us. They also overdosed him with it. When we thought he was going through renal failure and called to discuss this with them, they acted like we were idiots, told us not to read things online and insisted this wasn't possible. We took him in for blood testing and he was, of course, going through renal failure as we had thought. It took 4 nights at an emergency vet to save him and countless trips to a new vet after to give him Sub-Q fluids. It has been almost two years and he still isn't the same. :(

I took our new puppy and old baby for the first time today. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and the dogs were also welcomed. A very nice lady who worked there came and sat down with me while I waited to talk about our new puppy and then recommended their leashes and collars for chewing. The veterinarian was so friendly and took the time to chat before looking over my pets. I felt everything was explained and our puppies will be well taken care of at Hickory!!

She's been incredibly kind during our boys recovery from surgery. It's nice to have a calm and understanding voice on the other end of the phone when your baby is in pain that can suggest different options with you. They've been such an incredible help with all of our furbabies throughout the years. I would absolutely suggest them. Phenominal people.

I'm officially switching vets- this place is so amazing, I'm leaving my old vet. I ended up here yesterday with my very ill cat, as it was closest to my home. Unfortunately, she was unable to be saved due to the severity of what was going on. The staff really helped me through one of the most difficult moments of my life- putting our dear little girl down. The staff did everything they could to make the process as easy as possible on me, even providing a box and a memorial clay footprint. Everyone worked very quickly and efficiently, and I feel they really went above and beyond. Hands down, 5 star experience all around, even under not the greatest circumstances. I will definitely be back.

Today I took in one of our rats who was having severe issues. The entire staff made us feel at home and welcomed us on short notice. Upon discovery of what was an inoperable tumor for his condition, Atlas was put to sleep. He was given excellent care, and when we buried him ourselves, we found that they have even taken the time and consideration to tuck him in his coffin.

I rarely board my miniature schnauzer but recently did so for a week at Hickory Vet. Every time I called to see how Shelby was doing the staff member I was speaking to went to the back room to check for me. I knew how she was eating, which was well and that she went outside easily but was reluctant to come back in. Shelby behaves in a similar manner at home. I will board her there again if necessary.

Dr Redding has been like a savior in my quest to understand what to do about my aging mini poodle. I'm very pleased with the accommodating staff and the amount of time everyone allowed, so I could understand what my pup needed. This is truly the only veterinary clinic where my dog didn't shake violently the entire time during the visit. The atmosphere was so stress free for my pet. I felt that all pet owners present during our appointment were just as pleased. This is truly the best experience for us. Next we will schedule teeth cleaning for my poodle-something I have been avoiding because I wasn't ready to trust anyone with putting him under for the treatment. I believe, he will be in good hands if they are Dr Redding's. Thank you to all the staff!

While no animal actually likes to go to a vet, my guys are calm and confident about their visits and they are treated like friends. I scheduled an appointment, and there were next day slots available, which was nice. The techs and the vet were friendly and seemed knowledgeable. I couldn't be more pleased with Hickory Veterinary Hospital. I initially tried to make an appointment through their website. It didn't work, so I contacted them via email asking them to call me. I received a phone call from them literally 1 hour later and made an appointment for our kitten. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Tory was great with my kitten and in explaining everything about the visit and what to expect. Dr. Redding was awesome as well. The place was very clean. They have several services including spa treatments, boarding, and others. I can't wait to try those out!

I have been a client here now for 4 years. I have lived in Hampton, Norfolk, and Suffolk in those four years and still choose to drive all the way to Chesapeake to have my pets cared for at this clinic. Both of the doctors are exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable, not to mention personable and truly care about their patients. I love that they are willing to take whatever time is needed to make sure I understand what is going on with my pets and not rush me out of the room. Dr Redding is a huge bonus to me as I also have "exotic" pets and he see's almost any animal you can think of! In addition to my cats and dogs, he has seen my rats, and my snake and I have seen animal from ferrets to birds to Komodo dragons in there! His range of expertise is amazing!The staff is caring and patient and makes the visit worth it whether it's for an annual or for the sad time when an animal is ready to go to the Rainbow Bridge. They will continue to be my first choice for veterinary care as long as I live within range!

Dr Redding is a horrible doctor and I will spread the word to everyone that will listen to never take their family pets to him. He misdiagnosed both of my pets multiple times and if i didn't get second opinions then they would both be far off. He's very rude and inconsiderate of you and can even be considered abusive toward animals with the way he treated my dogs. He's also very rude toward his own employees, I dont know why they tolerate him. Redding clearly did not pay attention in vet school to screw up as much as he does and should have his license revoked to prevent further harm to animals. Klemm, on the other hand, is a fantastic doctor and is the only reason this place is still open.

My Savannah Monitor was very sick and Dr. Redding did everything in his power to nurse him back to health-which wasn't a short and easy process. I've lived here for a short time, and I've had to bring my dog in 3 times in 5 weeks, all with entirely different ailments. Hickory Veterinary Hospital got me in quick, the service is happy and warm, and they are very gentle and caring when they handle my dog. My dog may not have taken this move well, but they certainly helped him to feel much better. They're not pushy on treatments or give you a huge slew of expensive options, they just got to the point of what was wrong and took care of it. I highly recommend them.

I have been taking all of my dogs to Dr.Klemm for over 7 years now and the care at his hospital does not compare with any other I have previously taken my dogs to. Dr. Klemm has alway been extremely patient with my dogs and even gets on the floor with them to examine them to help make going to the vet a less stressful experience. His practice seems to have gotten more busy over the past few years and sometimes there is a bit of a wait to see him, however, it is worth it. On 2 occasions there have been emergencies that have come in while I was waiting for my dogs appointment and of course they were seen immediately which made the wait longer than usual but I would expect the same treatment if one of my babies had an emergency situation. I have made some great professional relationships with a few of his staff and always feel at home when I need to take one of my guys to Hickory Vet. I trust Dr. Klemm with my doggies care 100%

Don't go to this vet!! They gave my 16 year old cat Metacam, a drug for dogs, after dental surgery and failed to tell us. They also overdosed him with it. When we thought he was going through renal failure and called to discuss this with them, they acted like we were idiots, told us not to read things online and insisted this wasn't possible. We took him in for blood testing and he was, of course, going through renal failure as we had thought. It took 4 nights at an emergency vet to save him and countless trips to a new vet after to give him Sub-Q fluids. It has been almost two years and he still isn't the same. :(
