This company only cares about money, not your pet. I made an appointment with them for my pregnant French bulldog. I paid $55 in advance for a Tuesday appointment. I have a planner that I write everything down in and Tuesdays are my only free day so it was for Tuesday. I never got a confirmation call so this morning I call to make sure all is good. They could not find me in the system. The woman on the phone said they were so busy and overbooked and would have to call me back. I said ok no problem. I received a call back and was told they found me and my appointment was Monday, yesterday. I explained that's not possible, I never would have made the apt for Monday, I work and specifically made it for my day off, Tuesday and wrote it down in my planner. The woman then says "well we have you for Monday, it's a missed apt and non refundable so if you'd like another apt you have to pay another $55." In an extremely irritated rude high pitched voice, almost as if to mock me. I explained that this kind of sounds like they forgot to put me on the schedule since they couldn't find me and since they're over booked today, said I missed my apt. She laughed and said "yeah, no ma'am, it's not our job to keep your schedule in order." I told her that's so rude and I will not be doing business with her company then and she responds "uh ok byeeeee" and hung up. Definitely disputing that fraudulent bs. Unbelievable.

Dr. Stark and his associates are the best vets we've ever been to. About a year ago one of my baby turtles managed to claw off the safety cap on her canister filter and got her head stuck in the intake. She was bleeding from her nose and eyes and I was terrified. I called my usual vet and they told me to watch her for a day and if she didn't die that she will be fine. I called around to every reptile vet and ER vet in the 757 area and only Midway was willing to see her right away. They took care of her and a year later she is one of the strongest swimmers of my turtle family. Since then my turtle family has grown to a total of five and I wouldn't dream of taking any of them to anyone else. Dr Stark even calls and asks about them by name every so often just to make sure they are all A-OK. If you really love and care for your fur family or scaley family please bring them here.

The staff at Midway are caring and professional. They helped us through one of the hardest times in our lives with heartfelt compassion. They taught us how to care for our cat at home so we didn't have to bring him in everyday for sub q fluids, and when it was time to let him go, they were right by our sides. A few years ago we took our cat there to get a rabies shot. He gets very anxious at the vet and because of this they put him under in order to examine him and to give him the shot. While waiting in the lobby I could a cat crying (and I mentioned to the receptionist that it sounded like my cat). A few days later, animal control showed up at my home and informed me that our cat had bitten a vert tech. This was the first time that I had heard of it. No one bothered to inform me of the incident while I was there. They also neglected to give him his rabies shot while he was put under; instead they apparently waited until he was half-way awake to poke him with a needle. Aside from the gigantic mistake of not informing me that anything had happened, they were incompetent enough to give an already anxious cat a shot while he was HALF asleep. Anything or anyone would have been defensive in that situation because they are confused and not fully conscious. After that nightmare I will NEVER return to this vet and I suggest that other pet owners do the same.

The vet was more interested in pumping-up our bill than in caring for the animal. Podus, the owner, has always had a strange persona about him. He seems detached at all times. The vet that handled our pet talks so fast you cannot understand her. And she never looks at you to explain the issues. She is really more interested in pumping up her sales than in providing decent care.In addition, they DO NOT have a blood analyzer on site and charge EACH-AND-EVERY CUSTOMER AN EXPENSIVE OVERNIGHT FEE that goes to the same facility for testing. This is a total rip-off. At least Pet Care in Virginia Beach has a blood analysis system on site. The staff is hit-and-miss. Some are good at their job, while others . . . not so much. One male staffer had to have the the last word whenever I said something. His demeanor was not good. And his snide facial expressions revealed his attitude that he was better than you. Pitiful, I would say.

I relinquished my rights of my guinea pig who was near death to save him so he wouldn't die a baby and the receptionist Heidi was rude I dislike the way we were treated I just wanted my son's and I to see him one last time because we loved him dearly. To deny my son's and I that broke my heart ! She was stand offish as if she didn't care we did not want to touch him since he was very ill. I understand fully we signed him over we just needed closure. I wanted him to have a chance to live and thrive.

My family and I absolutely love this animal hospital, and especially Dr. Poutous. About a year ago we had to make one of the hardest decisions. We had to put down the best dog anyone could hope for. We lost a family member... But Dr. Poutous and the rest of the staff were amazing. They were there every step of the way for Rufus, and for us. From the first day that we brought him in, 'til the last day that he was with us. I can't thank them enough for everything they've done, and I will always bring my little babies to be seen by them.

Midway has been fantastic ever since we first took our bearded dragon in for an emergency. Vulcan is now doing so much better! When our hognose passed, the staff was so understanding and caring. They treated our snake and me with so much respect in what has been a very difficult time. Our sugar glider is having surgery at the clinic soon, and I feel confident that he will be well cared for. We're definitely going to keep bringing all of our critters here. They are easily the best place to bring your exotics.

Not the best hospital for guinea pig care. They may be able help more common problems like uti's and bladder stones(issues with clear signs). However, issues without clear signs that require more knowledge, experience, and equipment to diagnose. I found that they couldn't offer my guniea pig the help she needed. Bad judgement by both doctors ended up worsening my pets condition. I wouldn't have brought my pet here had it not been for the conveience of it being close to my location (bad decsion). This is not a bad hospital by any means. The staff is very polite and the doctors are smart, they just don't know guinea pigs as well as they do other animals (cats,dogs,birds,etc). They were not able to help my pet and that's why I gave them a low review.

I have been going to this office every couple months for my cats chronic kidney disease. They were always really clear to call them if my cat starts to get sick because with her condition even small things could become life threatening quickly. My cat started squatting but nothing was coming out and vomitting foam continually. She was lethargic and not eating so I called first thing in the morning to see if they could see her. They said they could not squeeze in any appointments and She sounded ill and i should find another vet office to see her?!? What?!? Whats the point in having a vet to take her to every couple months for well visits if they wont see her when shes sick?? Worst experience ever. Now my cats sick and I have to find a new vet to care for her?

Dr. Poutous saved my fox's life; having to perform surgery to remove fractured skull from piercing his brain. All of the staff have been accommodating, and they put everything into the care of the animals. They've been there for me in the worst times, and they've gone above and beyond any requirements or expectations. Dr. Schacher is currently seeing my dog, and I expect to see some light at the end of this tunnel because of her attention to detail, and care for every animal that walks through the door. I couldn't say enough about the nursing staff either. I've never been greeted with anything but a smile, and I've seen their efforts first hand. There is a phenomenal group within this facility, and I'm proud to recommend them to anyone, and I'm proud to share my exotic pet stories showcasing their expertise and love.

The total bill was $136.83 and the doctor (Tony Poutous) would only refund us the $73 in medication, not the $63 upfront fee. I'm extremely dissatisfied with their service. It was a whole lot better when Dr. MacQueen was there. NEVER GO HERE!

I have never had a bad experience at Midway. The staff are caring and Dr. Poutous has always been caring, professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and takes the time to really look at your animal. Old reviews from 2007 are outdated and misleading. Dr. Poutous specializes in exotic and avian medicine; however, I always see a parade of dogs and cats and happy owners when I am there. The staff make follow-up calls after exams, and try in every way to help in emergency situations, and in making appointments. This is a very busy office, so make appointments early. I high recommend this practice!

Never really satisfied with their customer service, my last nerve was plucked when my dog came into the clinic with obvious health concerns. We told Dr. Ruth Ann MacQueen our concerns and she dismissed them, stating that she could not see anything wrong with my dog after she had felt his belly and took his temperature (activities that cost $80). She was extremely rude, telling my brother and me to ""sit"" like WE were dogs. Two days later I brought my dog to another clinic (he looked and acted the same way as he did the day we visited Dr. Ruth Ann MacQueen) where the doctor immediately noticed that something was wrong. Turns out my dog had pancreatitis and was severely dehydrated. We checked him into an emergency hospital where he was on fluids for 24 hours. He is currently recovering. It is also known that Dr. Ruth Ann MacQueen has k1lled a dog on the operating table during a routine procedure. Unfortunately, that information has been removed from the Virginia Department of Health Professions website (it has been more than 90 days), if not, I would have been more than happy to provide a link. If you want quality care for your loved one, this is NOT the place for you to go. Needless to say, my dog and I will be going elsewhere.

This company only cares about money, not your pet. I made an appointment with them for my pregnant French bulldog. I paid $55 in advance for a Tuesday appointment. I have a planner that I write everything down in and Tuesdays are my only free day so it was for Tuesday. I never got a confirmation call so this morning I call to make sure all is good. They could not find me in the system. The woman on the phone said they were so busy and overbooked and would have to call me back. I said ok no problem. I received a call back and was told they found me and my appointment was Monday, yesterday. I explained that's not possible, I never would have made the apt for Monday, I work and specifically made it for my day off, Tuesday and wrote it down in my planner. The woman then says "well we have you for Monday, it's a missed apt and non refundable so if you'd like another apt you have to pay another $55." In an extremely irritated rude high pitched voice, almost as if to mock me. I explained that this kind of sounds like they forgot to put me on the schedule since they couldn't find me and since they're over booked today, said I missed my apt. She laughed and said "yeah, no ma'am, it's not our job to keep your schedule in order." I told her that's so rude and I will not be doing business with her company then and she responds "uh ok byeeeee" and hung up. Definitely disputing that fraudulent bs. Unbelievable.

Dr. Stark and his associates are the best vets we've ever been to. About a year ago one of my baby turtles managed to claw off the safety cap on her canister filter and got her head stuck in the intake. She was bleeding from her nose and eyes and I was terrified. I called my usual vet and they told me to watch her for a day and if she didn't die that she will be fine. I called around to every reptile vet and ER vet in the 757 area and only Midway was willing to see her right away. They took care of her and a year later she is one of the strongest swimmers of my turtle family. Since then my turtle family has grown to a total of five and I wouldn't dream of taking any of them to anyone else. Dr Stark even calls and asks about them by name every so often just to make sure they are all A-OK. If you really love and care for your fur family or scaley family please bring them here.

A few years ago we took our cat there to get a rabies shot. He gets very anxious at the vet and because of this they put him under in order to examine him and to give him the shot. While waiting in the lobby I could a cat crying (and I mentioned to the receptionist that it sounded like my cat). A few days later, animal control showed up at my home and informed me that our cat had bitten a vert tech. This was the first time that I had heard of it. No one bothered to inform me of the incident while I was there. They also neglected to give him his rabies shot while he was put under; instead they apparently waited until he was half-way awake to poke him with a needle. Aside from the gigantic mistake of not informing me that anything had happened, they were incompetent enough to give an already anxious cat a shot while he was HALF asleep. Anything or anyone would have been defensive in that situation because they are confused and not fully conscious. After that nightmare I will NEVER return to this vet and I suggest that other pet owners do the same.

The vet that handled our pet talks so fast you cannot understand her. And she never looks at you to explain the issues. She is really more interested in pumping up her sales than in providing decent care.In addition, they DO NOT have a blood analyzer on site and charge EACH-AND-EVERY CUSTOMER AN EXPENSIVE OVERNIGHT FEE that goes to the same facility for testing. This is a total rip-off. At least Pet Care in Virginia Beach has a blood analysis system on site. The staff is hit-and-miss. Some are good at their job, while others . . . not so much. One male staffer had to have the the last word whenever I said something. His demeanor was not good. And his snide facial expressions revealed his attitude that he was better than you. Pitiful, I would say.

My family and I absolutely love this animal hospital, and especially Dr. Poutous. About a year ago we had to make one of the hardest decisions. We had to put down the best dog anyone could hope for. We lost a family member... But Dr. Poutous and the rest of the staff were amazing. They were there every step of the way for Rufus, and for us. From the first day that we brought him in, 'til the last day that he was with us. I can't thank them enough for everything they've done, and I will always bring my little babies to be seen by them.

Midway has been fantastic ever since we first took our bearded dragon in for an emergency. Vulcan is now doing so much better! When our hognose passed, the staff was so understanding and caring. They treated our snake and me with so much respect in what has been a very difficult time. Our sugar glider is having surgery at the clinic soon, and I feel confident that he will be well cared for. We're definitely going to keep bringing all of our critters here. They are easily the best place to bring your exotics.

Not the best hospital for guinea pig care. They may be able help more common problems like uti's and bladder stones(issues with clear signs). However, issues without clear signs that require more knowledge, experience, and equipment to diagnose. I found that they couldn't offer my guniea pig the help she needed. Bad judgement by both doctors ended up worsening my pets condition. I wouldn't have brought my pet here had it not been for the conveience of it being close to my location (bad decsion). This is not a bad hospital by any means. The staff is very polite and the doctors are smart, they just don't know guinea pigs as well as they do other animals (cats,dogs,birds,etc). They were not able to help my pet and that's why I gave them a low review.

They were always really clear to call them if my cat starts to get sick because with her condition even small things could become life threatening quickly. My cat started squatting but nothing was coming out and vomitting foam continually. She was lethargic and not eating so I called first thing in the morning to see if they could see her. They said they could not squeeze in any appointments and She sounded ill and i should find another vet office to see her?!? What?!? Whats the point in having a vet to take her to every couple months for well visits if they wont see her when shes sick?? Worst experience ever. Now my cats sick and I have to find a new vet to care for her?

Dr. Poutous saved my fox's life; having to perform surgery to remove fractured skull from piercing his brain. All of the staff have been accommodating, and they put everything into the care of the animals. They've been there for me in the worst times, and they've gone above and beyond any requirements or expectations. Dr. Schacher is currently seeing my dog, and I expect to see some light at the end of this tunnel because of her attention to detail, and care for every animal that walks through the door. I couldn't say enough about the nursing staff either. I've never been greeted with anything but a smile, and I've seen their efforts first hand. There is a phenomenal group within this facility, and I'm proud to recommend them to anyone, and I'm proud to share my exotic pet stories showcasing their expertise and love.

The total bill was $136.83 and the doctor (Tony Poutous) would only refund us the $73 in medication, not the $63 upfront fee. I'm extremely dissatisfied with their service. It was a whole lot better when Dr. MacQueen was there. NEVER GO HERE!

I have never had a bad experience at Midway. The staff are caring and Dr. Poutous has always been caring, professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and takes the time to really look at your animal. Old reviews from 2007 are outdated and misleading. Dr. Poutous specializes in exotic and avian medicine; however, I always see a parade of dogs and cats and happy owners when I am there. The staff make follow-up calls after exams, and try in every way to help in emergency situations, and in making appointments. This is a very busy office, so make appointments early. I high recommend this practice!

Never really satisfied with their customer service, my last nerve was plucked when my dog came into the clinic with obvious health concerns. We told Dr. Ruth Ann MacQueen our concerns and she dismissed them, stating that she could not see anything wrong with my dog after she had felt his belly and took his temperature (activities that cost $80). She was extremely rude, telling my brother and me to ""sit"" like WE were dogs. Two days later I brought my dog to another clinic (he looked and acted the same way as he did the day we visited Dr. Ruth Ann MacQueen) where the doctor immediately noticed that something was wrong. Turns out my dog had pancreatitis and was severely dehydrated. We checked him into an emergency hospital where he was on fluids for 24 hours. He is currently recovering. It is also known that Dr. Ruth Ann MacQueen has k1lled a dog on the operating table during a routine procedure. Unfortunately, that information has been removed from the Virginia Department of Health Professions website (it has been more than 90 days), if not, I would have been more than happy to provide a link. If you want quality care for your loved one, this is NOT the place for you to go. Needless to say, my dog and I will be going elsewhere.
