Dr. Mason had been my vet for 32 years. Both he and his assistant, Deborah Jenkins were the best around. The news I received was not always what I had hoped, but it was honest and fair. He had a special attachment with his "clientele." Unfortunately, Dr. Mason has retired and new vets have taken over the practice. Today I had an emergency situation with my 15 year old cat. Upon coming home from work, I found the cat in distress as he could not breathe. I knew that our time with Tiger was limited given his frail body and age so I immediately called with his symptoms and asked if I arrived by closing if the cat could be seen. it is a 30 minute drive to the office which resulted in me arriving a few minutes before closing. The staff greeted me and made immediate preparations for my cat to be seen as it was obvious that he was in distress and pain. The new vet upon entering the reception area, took a look at my pet and announced that it was something she did not have time for that day as it would take 3 hours to examine him. I attempted to bring up the topic of putting him down given his age and rapid regression in health, but she did not even want to hear anything I had to say, again reiterating that she didn't have the time. She handed me a card to an emergency vet. When I told her I called prior to coming with the cat's symptoms and was informed that it was okay if I was in before the doors were locked, she questioned where I lived and glanced at the clock. Upon telling her my residence, she asked why I don't use a vet closer to my home and off of Courthouse Road. I am a medical professional who loves what I do. I am very cognizant of time, but try to accommodate my patients if at all possible and definitely if I tell them to come in. Emergencies come up. I was able to find a vet in Chester who may not be as inexpensive as Dr. Jones had been, but who was willing to take the time to examine my cat. Unfortunately things did not end as I had hoped with my pet, but at least I have a vet who is human, particularly at a difficult time. Rest in Peace Tiger. I miss you. Read Less
