Attention to everyone who loves and cares about their pets - DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS PRACTICE!!! I have had mild issues with Banfield in the past, but none like the atrocities I experienced at this location. This is well worth the read.
4/12/2021 - I brought my dog in for a check-up and to have a cyst on his neck removed. He has had similar cysts in the past, and all of the other vets I have taken him to have extracted them on the spot with no issue. However, the vet thought her pay day had arrived. After taking what seemed like forever to evaluate my dog, she sends her vet tech out to discuss performing a biopsy on the cyst - an unnecessary procedure that would cost over $200 to send off to a histology lab. I questioned the vet tech, she acted clueless, and said that the vet would call me to discuss. The vet proceeded to tell me he would have to go under anesthesia for the removal and described the details of a cancer removal surgery costing $1100 that she recommended for my dog. She also made a point to state that his prognosis might not be very good because of his age - he's 4 years old. Next, she tried to recommend a teeth cleaning for him, which he also does not need at this point in his life. As the vet tech brought my dog back out to me, she provided me with a sticky note showing the potential cost of a variety of treatment options - all involving anesthesia. Then she suggested that I upgrade my wellness plan to the next level to "save money" on future treatments... As soon as I was at home, I researched and selected a local vet clinic to take my dog to for a second opinion.
4/29/2021 - I ended up going to Centralia Animal Hospital and I had a FABULOUS experience. My dog was in and out in less than 30 minutes - and magically the vet was able to extract his follicular cyst without anesthesia! On top of that, the vet did this removal FOR FREE! Furthermore, he said my dog looks great, and does not need any sort of professional teeth cleaning at this time either.
This brings me to today, when I decided to warn my fellow animal lovers of this "vet". So, I looked up the vet's license to make sure I had her name correctly before writing reviews and reports, and she has a long history of disciplinary action against her by the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine.
I was shocked, sickened, and infuriated by the things that I read. This vet has ZERO business caring for animals and I am shaking at the fact she was alone in the room with my dog for any period of time. Because Banfield allows such unfit practitioners to work at their establishments, I will never do business with them again.
Furthermore, everyone should be aware that the business model of Banfield and their variety of "wellness" plans are purely predatory and seek to find additional problems to charge you for during your "wellness visits." Please, save your time, money, and animals by staying away!

It was at this Banfield that I began my dog's wellness plan. My sister has one & told me to stop in to ask about it. When I went, several years ago, I learned all about the different packages. I was shown comparison prices & they explained in detail what I would/wouldn't be receiving with each plan. It's great for military because everything is easily transferred when you PCS. You have access to all records online as well. The level of care at this facility is great. The vets & techs seem to do a thorough job & answer the many questions I always have. This has been my favorite Banfield because of one reason, Dotty, the receptionist. She is invaluable to that office. Every single time I stop in she is nothing but smiles & positivity. I dread dropping my dog off for his yearly dental cleaning because of the sedation, but she's always able to reassure me that everything will be fine & it's necessary for his health in the long run. I would give her 6 stars if I could.

This Banfield is excellent! The nursing staff has always been accommodating and helpful when I’m making appointments! They detail the needs of my pet to me and schedule accordingly. When my dog was sick they squeezed me in and treated him like family. Dr. Engel is an excellent veterinarian with kind and patient techniques. They assisted my dog from a frightened and hesitant patient to one that was excited to go the vet. Get a wellness plan and come here, they are wonderful to work with

I had scheduled an appointment for a vaccination for my dog THREE WEEKS IN ADVANCE. The day before the appointment, this Banfield called and told me that there were no office appointments available and asked if I could drop him off instead. I was baffled, seeing as it was AT BEST a ten minute appointment, but I agreed. They said drop off time was between 0830-0900. I arrived, ON TIME, and dropped my dog off. I was told by the front desk worker that they would call me when my dog was ready to be picked up. Thankfully I asked what time pick-up ended, 1630, because THEY NEVER CALLED ME! I arrived at 1625 to pick up my dog and the front desk lady joked with me about being worried that I wasn't coming. I informed her that noone had called me, so I was waiting like I was supposed to. She then went to check and see if my dog was ready to go. HE HAD NOT EVEN BEEN SEEN YET!!! Not only had he not been seen, the veterinary staff had NO IDEA who he was or that he was even back there!!! Even after being alerted to his presence he STILL WASN'T SEEN for another thirty minutes!!! All this just to get a shot!!! That was ridiculous!!! I am HIGHLY DISSATISIFIED with the veterinary care at this Banfield and I highly discourage anyone from using this veterinary clinic!

I've been a Banfield customer for over 15 years, through the lives of 2 Alaskan Malamutes. No better care anywhere. Kind, caring, compassionate veterinarian professionals at al the locations I have been to. Dottie is a very kind and friendly person, who gives this office much of its character. Drs. Grove and Scully are top-notch. I remember when I was helping Malamute 1, Jasmine, through Cushing's Disease...the doctors I worked with said it was the best care they've ever seen a dog receive, and I felt the same toward them. You won't go wrong here. Just make sure you stay current and bring your dog to take advantage of every facet of the Optimal Wellness Plan.

The staff is very nice & so was Dr Scully.( the only way I could post was to select a star) HOWEVER, I wanted a 2nd opinion for my dog MAX. Dr Scully, in his exam(after bloodwork) told me his lungs were clear, his heart sounded strong. He said Max had ACUTE KIDNEY DISEASE & HIS RED BLOOD CELLS WERE HIGH, BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. The VET to whom I took him for 2ND opinion(30 years experience) Said JUST looking at the bloodwork results that BANFIELD faxed to her...she didn't even have to see MAX to know HE HAD CHRONIC KIDNEY FAILURE. SHE DID SEE MAX & SAID HIS LUNGS WERE CONGESTED AND HIS HEART WAS HARDLY AUDIBLE. I WILL NEVER REFER THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE NOR TAKE ANY OF MY ANIMALS TO THEM. I WAS BROKEN HEARTED WHEN DR SCULLY GAVE ME SO MUCH HOPE & THIS VET TOLD ME MAX WAS IN SUCH BAD SHAPE, THAT THE BEST THING TO WAS TO PUT HIM DOWN. I feel like I was lied to & BANFIELD HOSPITAL wanted me to bring him back for more $. I have emailed them & Dr Scully has not tried to contact me.

Dr Winters was awesome with my cats, it was obvious that she has a deep love and concern for animals. The staff is very pleasant. I clearly told the technician to only do what was covered in the wellness plan, at check out I was billed for something so simple (something I do myself for my pets) it made me very upset.

I have been a customer of Banfield Pet Hospital for years! This is my fourth Banfield and I have to say I have been pleased with all but none as much as this one. Went there today for a "free orientation" as per the offer in the puppy package I bought. I went in there knowing they were going to push the wellness plan, and knowing that I'm not interested in the plan. I went to get the puppy microchipped. The fact that I refused to get the puppy vaccinated there seems to have struck a nerve, because when I finally saw the vet, her tone was very condescending. I'm not new to dog ownership or to the pet industry. I find her tone and assumption very insulting. Of course, even if I was new to pet ownership, I'd find it insulting. The staff was nice. The tech and receptionist were great. I just wasn't impressed at all with the vet. I'm hoping she isn't that condescending all the time, but to be that way with me was enough. I will gladly find another veterinarian, now.

Kind, caring, compassionate veterinarian professionals at al the locations I have been to. Dottie is a very kind and friendly person, who gives this office much of its character. Drs. Staff seemed to really care about my dog. Vet was thorough and answered my questions. Looking forward to establishing a long relationship with this vet.
