I can't say enough good things about the staff and doctors here. Of all the other places I have taken my fur babies, they are the best. They held me as I said goodbye to Mr. Boots, Sally, and Sassy. They helped me make the hard decision for Maci. They revived Boodie when she was so sick. And when Bear was hurt, they took the time to make sure I knew how to care for him at home. I'm a bit on the line about this place. They took care of my little girl when she developed heart worms, so I'm forever grateful for her full recovery; however, when I call (for anything) the front desk seems lost, confused, guessing and will finally say they need to look at her file. Not very reassuring. I wish I could remember her name, but the vet I always get is outstanding,and quite possibly the only reason I still come here. Yes, my dog is big. Yes, my dog is protective of me, but there isn't a single staff member there that can say my dog is anything but docile and amiable when getting shots or any type of treatment. The biggest plus about the office is that they genuinely care about the animal well-being and will not break the bank in any way. I love the vets here, they are awesome! Occasionally some of the ladies answering the phones are rude. Their prices are high, but I'm sure they are competitive with other local vets. #colonialheightsvet has officially banned me from seeing them! all because during the process of our cat Charlotte bleeding for a month straight from her rectum we were disrespected by Wendy and Theresa. Mean glares, smart remarks to my girlfriend while she waited almost an hour for an "emergency case" after being told to come right away. They performed the same test twice meanwhile I got placed on hold mid sentence and hung up on not once but twice. As well as the manager Belinda she was a nightmare. Clearly needs to find a job she's good at because customer service is horrendous!! Spoke with the owner Metry, who was my favorite veterinarian there, regarding the situation and had nothing but apologies THEN. however when 3 days later the specialist STILL didn't have a referral from the vet and despite their efforts for 3 hours they had not been able to get a hold of them! I personally had to call back to back for about another half hour to get a hold of someone. Still another 30 minutes later the lady I spoke with had to personally do it because they still had not received the referral and I refused to wait any longer being we had to drive 45 minutes with an unhappy cat! My cat can't be touched until its received and when they did finally receive it there was no records included of ANY test already performed!! . Over 2 hours after the appointment my cat was FINALLY seen. When speaking to Belinda the manager her response was "well she got seen didn't she" Never in my life have I been so disrespected by basically every single staff member associated with this worthless company in my life and I have been seeing them for 8 years and sadly recommending people to them but NEVER again. Belinda even had the nerve to say we will fax your records where you want.. I'm sorry.. You couldn't even get a referral faxed in 3 DAYS.....so..right.. Basically.. I'm sorry I EVER SUPPORTED COLONIAL HEIGHTS VETERINARIAN HOSPITAL. Please take your animals to someone who has time to care. This was the first emergency case I have ever brought to them and no compassion whatsoever but to my girlfriend from Metry.. But that was followed by discrimination and banning.. Says a lot. Best thing from this is the midlothian specialist they recommended. Amazing staff and people! Apologetic for the wait even though it wasn't their fault! And even said we were the highlight of their day. yet I'm lucky to get a staff member at colonial heights who doesn't try to talk OVER me and catch an attitude when they can't admit their faults or even muffle an apology when another vet tells them they've been calling all morning for records... Since I'm lying according to the young intern there who told me he sent the records as well when he wasn't even the one to send it... But instead of FIXING the issues.. let's just ban people. The staff is very rude my girlfriend adopted a cat from there and we were told the cat had all her shots including a vaccine to get rid of heart worms and she didn't they told us to come back after she gained 3 pounds and they would cover the shots however when we returned we were denied of the shots and was told we would have to pay for the shots and the $60 we paid for her only covered her spaying procedure. As we kept her every time she would use the bathroom we would find worms and she became more sick when we returned her and told them what was going on we didn't get our money back and we didn't fill out the right forms for returning her the lady was in such of a rush being rude she just took a piece of paper from the printer and wrote on it that we was returning her and I signed it. I wouldn't recommend no one to adopt from them unless you have the animal checked for everything first so you won't lose out on your money like we did. Read Less

I came in on a budget. They don't do payment plans, you have to pay the entire bill that day (however much it may be). I told them I couldnt go over a certain amount and they ended up going over the amount. So if you are on a budget I'd recommend a place that accepts payment plans or billing at a later time. It is a bummer if you have an emergency but don't have the funds saved up for the emergency and can't pay the bill that day. Read Less

What a wonderful staff! I've been taking my dogs there since I moved to Colonial Heights. Today, my newly adopted dog was struck by a car when he got loose from my son. They said to bring him in even though it was almost closing time. Luckily my dog is fine other than some scrapes. They stayed late to do blood work and X-rays on him to be sure. I took my lab their yesterday, my lab ate a drinking glass that had some food in it, they made me wait for 20 min before we were seen. All they did was take a adominal x-rays and sent us on our way. They said they had no idea if he would be ok, and said if he gets worse take em to a different hospital. Also, While trying to pay, I seemed to have a problem with my debit card, they threatened to call the cops on me if I didn't find a way to pay. Worse service ever and not very friendly.Read Less

This is the best vet around! I had adopted my Chow Chow from Colonial Heights Shelter. She was found as a stray covered in fleas. They took her to this vet to get her spayed and they also groomed her and cleaned her up. When I adopted her, I took her back there for an exam. They were sooooo caring and sweet. They even remembered her! They helped me clear up some infections and issues that she had before I got her. Just today, I took her back there for an emergency visit because she had eaten a chicken bone. I had gone to the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center the night before, and they were absolutely useless. When I took her to Colonial Heights Vet this morning, they got her in ASAP without an appointment and handled all of my questions and concerns. The emergency vet wanted to charge me $800 for every test under the sun. I walked out of Colonial Heights Vet feeling much better and I had a realistic treatment plan, all for $120 - including all meds and heartworm preventative. Dr. Metry is amazing. Worst grooming my dog has ever had. Last visit they cut his skin twice, and still had to trim him up when he got home. This time they left plugs of fur that needed to be shaved and had to wait 5 weeks for this bad job. Will never take my dog to thier groomers again. Can't speak bad about vets office. Take my advice, find a different groomer that does not charge you $60 bucks for a bad haircut! Read Less
