I love this vet. My dog has always been taken care of beautifully here. I have had to drop my pet off here because he was very sick and they saw him and did what was necessary. They gave me the meds and special diet that he needed to get better. They called twice in the 10 day period to make sure that he was doing okay and to see if I had any questions. I have also boarded my dog here. If you need to have any vaccinations done they will do that when you drop your animal off. My dog absolutely loves it here. He is terribly spoiled and well loved while I am gone. I have no fears leaving my baby at this location. When I pick him up I always have a report card with how he was and it even has a picture with it. He has also been groomed here. My dog is an Airedale and not many people know how to give a proper Airedale cut. This is just because there are not many here in the states.... just not as common. So going to another location he will end up usually looking like a Schnauzer. I don't have to worry about that here. He always looks fantastic and happy. Not to mention it is soooooooo much cheaper. Had to drop off cat litter that was being donated and beautiful staff started popping up from everywhere to help. They were all very friendly and pleasant. They even helped block the road and call for cruisers so I could back out of there. I'm certain that they will treat your pets just as nice as they treated me. Staff is rude, my dogs seem to like the place...but feel like they push additional things on you, even when they acknowledge that you are on a tight budget. Bloodwork on my 2 senior dogs, which would likely be annually, fecals every year....that doesn't include heartworm checks and the lepto vaccine, nor everything inbetween. I brought my cat Zina there on an emergency basis back in December because she was vomiting continuously. Dr. Casey was very compassionate and knowledgeable. She was able to get us an emergency appointment in at VRCC for further testing and did a fantastic job when we brought her back for surgery to remove the string she had swallowed. When our elderly dog, Buddy, was nearing the end, the staff was so good to us. The vet had an honest discussion with us and treated us with care and compassion. They even sent us a sympathy card. All our pets go to Disputanta Animal Hospital for their medical care. Our dogs have boarded there, too. They love it. As soon as we pull into the parking lot, our pups wag their tails. My welsh corgi was 5 years old and in perfect health when we left him there to board over 2 nights. When we picked him up he seemed okay but later through the day he got worse and to the point where he could not walk anymore. When we took him back they said he had a common disease in his breed that caused his disks to go bad in his back. They did not seem alarmed or gave reason to believe it was urgent. They gave us pain medication and sent him home. They never ran tests, they never did x-rays, they just assumed he had this, prescribed him medication without blood work, and sent him home. He did not get better and unfortunately we had to put him down yesterday morning. Come to find out, his condition could have been treated if we had gotten surgery within 24 hours, but the vet did not tell us that. They were too invested in getting their money from us to care about our dog I guess. Every time we spoke to them that's all they asked for was money. I don't recommend these people at all, we had been taking our dog there since he was a puppy, and received okay but expensive care. We thought we could trust them in time of emergency but they proved unreliable to me and my family. We miss our dog very much, he was only 5 years old and he had to be put down. I called Disputanta Animal hospital to find out how much it would cost to get my male cat neutered and was giving a very high estimated price of 289.00 dollars. After given such a high estimate I called the SPCA received a certificate from them for the total price of $35. I called back to Disputanta Animal hospital to see if they honored SPCA certificates and they confirmed they do. I made a appointment brought my cat in along with my certificate for a total cost of 35.00. I was then told by the lady behind the desk I needed to fill out new patient paperwork, in that paperwork there was an agreement for me to sign saying the estimated charges would be $289.00. The same price they gave me before I gave them my SPCA certificate.  They had added so many unnecessary charges that I was paying the exact same price as if I had no certificate.  I told them I could not afford almost 300.00. The lady was rude and had a very careless attitude. I took my cat home without having him neutered.  I  called the SPCA when I got home and they confirmed that Disputanta Animal hospital was only supposed to charge me a total of 35.00 per their agreement.  I would absolutely not recommend this vet hospital to anyone. It was clear to me that unnecessary costs and making money was more important than helping to  prevent the number of unwanted pets. Read Less

My 3 1/2 year old dog was recently brought in to this animal hospital for an exam since he had eaten something that would not pass through his intestines. We left him over night at the hospital to receive fluids to see if it would help pass the debris. The next day we were informed that the debris did not move so they suggested exploratory surgery. We had accepted the $554 bill for the overnight stay and were extremely worried about the upcoming add on to the bill, so we contacted the S.A.F.E SPCA organization were we adopted our dog 3 years ago and they agreed to send $100 to this vet right away to help with the bill of the overnight stay. The S.A.F.E organization was also working to help with any additional money they could provide once they got approval from the president, so we were awaiting another call from them. I got approved through the "Care Credit" card for $2800, we were told the surgery could cost up to $1300. They proceeded with surgery the same afternoon as we agreed. During surgery we got a call that the vet had found a hole in his abdomen that "could" cause additional health issues down the road if we chose to have them complete the surgery and close the hole. They gave us 2 options: put our young dog down right there on the operating table or have them continue the surgery with additional cost & accept he MIGHT have issues down the road. Since our dog was a healthy boy and even though he had this issue with the debris he was very attentive, responsive and still showed some excitement with perky ears and tail wagging while at the hospital. My husband and I decided to have them close the whole and continue the surgery, BUT when my husband informed them we wanted to continue the surgery he was told it "could" cost up to $3500. At that point they told my husband, who was on the phone with one vet rep and me on the other line, while in the operating room and my pup cut open, that we had to decide right then and there to put him down or we could pay for the additional surgery. I regret to say my 3 1/2 year old pup had to be put down because we had to tell them that we could not give them FULL payment that day!! WE ARE DEVASTATED!! I do understand that they have to be paid for their services, but Both my husband and I have good full time jobs with great credit and we told the vet office we could make payments but that was not good enough for this animal hospital. We did not have the money due to Christmas and we had just gotten back from a family trip. I have been told by several friends and family this was a Money Hungry animal hospital and in their experiences other animal hospitals would have been more compassionate and worked with us. I will say that Amanda & Sarah were both pleasant to speak with every time I called to check on my pup and provide me info before the terrible surgery began. Our 8 1/2 yr old yellow lab named Tash suddenly became lame-after testing it was discovered he had osteosarcoma(bone cancer).We had to put him down last week due to the pain in his leg-and his declining quality of life-not an easy decision.All of the vets & staff at DAH opened their hearts and helped us thru this painful and heartbreaking ordeal.They have a high quality of care and have always been there for us.We miss our Tash-and know he is pain free in Heaven. This vet will take you to the cleaners. I have never been here and spent money on just what I came for. There was always unnecessary costs. The vets here are abrasive and quite willing to tell you how they feel even if it's totally absurd. I stopped taking my dog here about a year ago. Dr. Casey was always telling me how my dog was far too over weight and trying to push their brand of dog food, which is Science Diet, on me. If you could see my dog you would understand how ridiculous this was. Not to mention the fact that Science Diet dog food is a horrible choice of food. They must get incentives to push this food on uneducated people. They also told me that I should trust them and everything I have read on the internet was wrong. Don't go here with your own opinion of anything. They will definitely argue their point and make you feel like you are an idiot. They told me that Blue Buffalo was the worst dog food for dogs. Are they crazy or what? I highly recommend that you stay as far away from this vet as possible. The staff here actually care about your pet. Dr Eaton is very attentive and will check any concern you have. I have purchased my dogs pills and other items from them and their prices are nothing like the big business next to me. Its been 5 years of them helping me with both my first dog and the rescue I have now. Every time I need an appointment or advice they have been helpful. The kindness they showed me when I lost my first dog can never be forgotten.I cannot recommend them any higher I will drive 45 minutes before I walk 2 blocks. Read Less
