Had the most awful experience here with Dr. Danielle S. (didn't catch the spelling of her last name) and technician Pam. I got a recommendation to come to FCAH from a friend who takes her pets here and loves it but has never seen Dr. Danielle S. or Pam (the vet technician). My brand new puppy is 10 weeks old, has had some vaccinations and wormers, but we just got him on Saturday so we wanted an exam, explanation of what additional vaccines he'll need, and some general puppy questions answered by a vet (I've never had a dog before and Google isn't always reliable...). When I first came into the room with Bucky, Pam offered him a whole, hard dog cookie but I explained that he didn't have the teeth for it yet and offer my own soft chews instead. Then she suggested a $600 puppy package to me. When I asked any questions about it (I didn't have a sense of the medical needs related to a puppy, again I've never had a puppy before), she said to talk to the vet. Then the doctor came in. She too tried to give him a whole, hard dog cookie before I explained to her too that he does the soft chews. Then, she tried to pick him up from where he was laying by my feet and hit his head on the bench in the room! She ignored it until I said something. After a 5-minute physical exam (everything was healthy/good), she launched into selling the puppy package. I said the that Pam mentioned it to me and that I'd think about. At this point, the doctor's attitude shifted from just rushed, to rushed and annoyed, and that she'd rather be anywhere else in the entire world than in the exam room with my pup and me. When I asked any questions of her (I asked questions about proper pup care like hygiene, when it was safe for him to be around other dogs, etc.) she interrupted me in annoyance before answering my questions. Then she reverted to talking about the puppy package. She spoke way too fast and rushed me to make a decision. When I finally asked if I had to decide "right now," she said yes. Why couldn't I take info, think it over, and come back another day? When I asked clarifying questions about vaccines he'd need, she proceeded to confusingly explain far too rapidly (using medical terminology that the average person is not familiar with) what seemed like a laundry list of vaccines, sprays, pills, and other requirements and make notes on a sheet of paper that seemed to list the various things she was talking about. When I repeated that I needed to think about the package and talk it over with my husband, she insisted I call him right then and there in the exam room so she could quickly administer some shots. Bucky is 11 lbs, 10 weeks old, and had hist last shot 7 days ago. When I explained that my husband was at work so I'd wait to talk to him this evening, she said that wouldn't be possible! (WHAT?!) When I asked for the sheet so I could better understand the various requirements for my new puppy and make an informed decision about the puppy package, she said she would write up notes for me and left the room. She came back 5 minutes later with Pam, and asked if I had made a decision. A decision on what?! I told her I was waiting for her notes so I could understand what vaccines and treatments she was recommending for Bucky, considering he has already had several vaccines and treatments, and that I couldn't make a $600 decision without discussing it with my husband. Her response was she didn't have time to wait for me to make a decision ON WHETHER TO BUY THE PUPPY PACKAGE because she had appointments every 30 minutes (Pam, looking uncomfortable, echoed this). At this point, completely flabbergasted at her rudeness, I explained that maybe if when I had called to make the appointment, someone had said to me that the puppy package is the only way to get treatment, I would have been better prepared for this experience. But I was told that "the first appointment is free and he probably won't need any shots." The doctor looked at Pam and smirked, before saying I needed to decide because she had another appointment. I told them we were leaving and we'd call back if we wanted to follow up on anything. With a curt goodbye and swift turn, they both left the room (through a back door). This doctor is not listed on the FCAH website so maybe she is new to the practice and/or to animal care, but some bedside manner would go a long way. If she treats me this way, I can only imagine how she would treat my pup if I wasn't there (besides wacking his head, which was probably due to her rushing). I'm incredibly dismayed at this experience as a new pet parent. I expected more given the ratings and the pleasant demeanor of the person on the phone. But from the moment the doctor walked in the room, she seemed rushed, annoyed, and just generally had a bad attitude that made me feel like an idiot for asking any questions. I hope they rectify this problem b/c although the place seemed nice otherwise, this experience was terrible. Read Less
