Gloucester Veterinary Hospital

Gloucester, Virginia
General Info
Gloucester Veterinary Hospital in Gloucester provides compassionate and knowledgeable care for the region’s pets. Their services include Boarding. The practice’s expert team understands the profound bond between pets and their families and strives to support pet parents in maintaining wellness, addressing chronic problems, and resolving urgent medical issues. Gloucester Veterinary Hospital, located in Virginia, employs precisely regulated levels of light, space and contact as animals pass through the stages of care. When the pet arrives, it is given the freedom to explore its surroundings. The method incorporates scent-mapping as well as slow and selective movements. The floor texture, ceiling acoustics and vertical presence are the parameters that a clinical team monitors. Each visit is unique; sometimes, we begin by palpating him, other times by simply looking at him or even socializing. Pet owners receive invitations to divulge the details of where their pets prefer to rest at home, what noises they avoid, and how their mealtime rhythms have changed. Gloucester Veterinary Hospital offers several services, including injury assessment, immune function testing, muscle flexibility evaluation, sensory aversion treatment, and chronic disease co-management. Test structure repeatedly changes in response to cycles or limb withdrawals. Every exam room has tools for immediate change like stools, lights and screens that can be removed to reduce visual noise. The caregiving process goes beyond the steps and ends through decompression. Pets are allowed to turn around before departure. Behavioral pacing guides provided to the animal’s owner tell how long to wait before putting the animal back at home or in other familiar surroundings, when to offer food or touch, and what signs of emotional lag and physical soreness should be expected. Gloucester Veterinary Hospital collaborates with pets from Gloucester and nearby Virginia regions to ensure that every aspect of their treatment—entry, consultation, and recovery—is in harmony with how animals perceive movement, space, and order.

We have been going to Gloucester Vet for years. We had three different dogs. One was a 16 year old Yorkie named gizmo. Dr Jacque and the staff had taken extremely good care of him. He had diverticulitis and became really sick. We did not expect him to live. They did every thing they could to save him. He pulled through and lived for years. This last year he went completely blind. The staff said he was still in good health. He started going deaf and having problems with his kidneys. We made the decision to put him down. Because of their love for gizmo, Dr Jacque and her assistant were with us when he passed. We cannot express the love we have for this clinic. Read Less

# Gloucester Veterinary Hospital Long story, but the morning I was setting off for a four day writing retreat, our daughter called to ask if there was any way I could take their beautiful new husky named Lyken to the vet for her shots and stitches removal. And by the way she has not ridden in a car before, and I’ll get you the directions to the vet (which she didn’t). Lyken is a sweet dog and sat nicely in the back seat, but she did feel the need to put her chin on my shoulder as we drove to see the doctor. Here’s what I wanted to tell you. When we entered the waiting room, the receptionist immediately welcomed us and made a big fuss over how beautiful Lyken was looking, and came over and ruffled her fur. Lyken went over to the receptionist counter and got a treat and more love. And then we sat to wait for our appointment. As each dog or pet arrived, there was a general excitement and affirmation about the animal. I’m thinking to myself, this is way better than any doctor’s office I’ve been in. Usually it’s all rather perfunctory, “May I please see your insurance card? When was your last visit? The doctor is running late but will see you soon, have a seat” No, the vet was much more celebratory. There was an underlying velvet of unconditional love. And then we went in to the examining room and more accolades and joy. I felt certain the Lyken was the favorite, most well behaved and beautiful dog in the whole veterinary practice. They told me, her weight was so much better, she was a good girl when they gave her the shots, and took out her stitches, and she will be fine.” A few treats and hugs later and we were on our way. I felt set up for a great day. As I drove north on route 17, with the best dog in the universe in the back seat, I thought how wonderful it would be if we all could experience this amazing vet-style love in our lives. It’s there; maybe we just don’t get it. Ephesians chapter 1 is that kind of place, a place where “we are adopted by the kind intention of God’s will, redeemed, forgiven and lavished with grace (lavish is what they do at the vet), secure, recipients of an outlandish inheritance.” And so much more. Not to beat a dead horse, but you’re not going to be a vet unless you’re crazy about animals and you’re not going to be a great God unless you’re crazy about people. Read Less
