Staff clearly loves the animals they take care of. Every time I've been with my dog they take in consideration my dogs comfort and my own. The only anesthesiologist I trust with my dog's life.

Lovely staff but it’s pricey compared to those mobile clinics. But, because I order my pets’ meds online, going here is more reliable.

I have never been to a vet where they went above and beyond to ensure my babies were taken care of. My two girls unfortunately were in pretty rough shape and our vet did everything she could to make sure they were getting everything they needed even though I couldn't afford all of it at the moment. They worked with me on a payment plan and gave my babies what they needed to be healthy!! I will be going back to this vet for all of my future needs. Read Less

Dr. Michaels and his crew have been by veterinarian since 1990! They have to be one of the best veterinarian offices in the area. Most of my cats have lived anywhere from 12 Years to almost 22 years of age. I can't imagine taking my pets anywhere else. Conveniently located on the main drag in Herndon on Elden Street, they are right at a bus stop and are easily located if you're driving. Read Less

We have taken our cats here for the past 15 years. You need to pick your preferred vet (not always a good fit) but they have the nicest support staff EVER!

The staff here has been great with my very difficult rottweiler. He's a loving dog who hates to have things done against his will, and then becomes problematic. Their approach is reserved. I've been given options, recommendations, and suggested things that I shouldn't avoid or delay and they specify which is which. It is very expensive for the work. The visit is $70 per animal, per visit. I would suggest looking at cheaper options if you can find them for routine or minor needs. I would also look at the cost of a pet insurance plan (reimbursement plan) if you need extensive work done, as their pet plan is significantly more expensive than regular pet insurance and covers less. PetFirst is cheaper and covers a more broad array of work. Plus it works at different businesses instead of just VCA They also have been great at suggesting cheaper options in the event that cost is a concern for services outside of their offices. Bring your pet here if you have the funds to support it and you'll leave happy. Read Less

Recently having moved into the area, I was looking for a vet office. My older dog, having many health issues-epilepsy, hip dysplasia, an enlarged liver and a cancer survivor who had recently had surgery to remove a tumor, received the best care she could have received anywhere, at any office. I know this to be true as we were given every chance to choose what we wanted to do for treatments, it was explained what would be best for her issues and explained thoroughly. As we treated her, I often received calls from our Doctor to check up on her progress or decline. When it came time to let her go, we were given a room, our whole family attending, to see her to the other side, to comfort her and sit with her on the floor holding her so she had no fear nor knew what was happening. A dignified end to a wonderful life. Dr. Thigpen was candid but compassionate and did not push us to do anything we did not wish to do. After making the devastating decision to let her pass, Dr. stayed with us until Jayne was gone and gave us time to stay with her for as long as we wanted. We were not bombarded with a bill as soon as we walked out of the room, which we expected as business is business. We were in tears and grieving and did not receive our bill until 30 days later via mail. It was a relief because if I had to sign a credit card slip after losing my best friend that I'd had by my side for 10 years, since she was a baby, I think I would have fainted on the floor. I would recommend this office to anyone who cares about their companion and wishes to receive compassionate care.-Michele White Read Less

The staff at VCA are very professional and caring. When I was worried about my dog, the friendly receptionist was able to make me an appointment the same day. I took my 15 year old German Shepherd here for some cumulative health problems. The vet was was compassionate and did not try to pressure my decision and was realistic about my dog's prospects. They gave me time to mourn my dog - his passing was very comfortable and painless. There were no "surprise charges" and they let me settle my bill before the procedure, knowing that it would be painful afterwards. I'm so glad that I decided to go here, because it's a difficult enough process without the support of a good vet staff. I would recommend VCA on Elden.Read Less

Having 30 years experience with this clinic I have always had faith in their care of my pets, both cats and dogs. VCA made changes when they bought this practice several years ago and I do miss the family owned atmosphere, but I am more focused on the best care for my pets.....hands down...this is the place. As I have learned, don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you see. Dr. Michaels founded this clinic before it was owned by VCA and is still there. That speaks volumes for me.
