I give the vet 4 stars on knowledge... -4 on ability to communicate clearly about 'exactly' what the test they recommend and the cost (which is not spoken about at all). I only went to this vet for a second opinion. They recommended test that were to tell if the problem was from a hormone imbalance or if it was bacteria. The pet was on antibiotics for over 4 weeks. I was told it would tell if it was hormonal. I asked how they do that and they said they get a specimen and send it off to be evaluated and those test would indicate if the problem was hormonal or a bacteria cause. Of course there would be no bacteria because of being on antibiotic, but the test did not test for any hormonal imbalance and that cost just for the lab 177. To have an accurate result and more real test result, the vet should of ordered these test after antibiotic were stopped and cleared from the animal body. That would of been the ethical thing to do. Then they decided to do a sperm count on a non-breeding 8 yr old??? Not at my request, but I was charged for that. I pointed out to the vet my dog had reaction to the antibiotics and had a yeast and secondary infection in his feet. I told her just prior to coming there, test were done on the skin and it was determined that there was not parasites/mites. I asked for a visual opinion and they took it on to repeat the same test that were negative a week before and test that I did not ask them to do. I only asked for a visual opinion. If she could not do that, she should of said so. If they wanted to do specific test, they should of explained that. I would of said- no. I also if the first testing was correctly described to me would of said no to it at that time, but would have agreed to it after the antibiotic cleared his system, that makes sense. The office then called in a script and wanted to charge me $10 for that service. I refuse and indicated that I have never anywhere in my professional history or vet history with any DVM- EVER charged for calling in a script. I refuse to pay that. I asked the office to remove the charge for the skin and sperm count. They never got back with me and they never even to this date addressed this upset. I was referred by a vet (who is a colleague and friend) to this office when she found out what happened, vowed not to refer to this again. They even told me that the doctor, and vet tech heard me say that I wanted her to do the test, but funny, the vet tech was never in the room with me and the doctor when I asked her to give me an visual opinion, so I do not know how she would have heard any conversation I had with the vet. I do not like to be nickel and dimed. I am sure you do not either. I found their charges at this office way above reasonable and customary (my vet bill proved that and how they billed in for services did not match what I was given as an explanation of charges), and excessive for what they do... let alone they do not offer or tell you BEFORE the service what those charges are. They prey on the emotion of 'you better do what is best for your animal'. I do not dispute the vets knowledge, I dispute her ethics for services rendered. Dr get 4 stars for knowledge, and 5 stars on nickel and diming you. I do not recommend this clinic unless you have deep pockets and you do not care to have up front, concise information to base decisions upon. Read Less
