General Info
Dr. Larry Winters opened the Hanover Green Veterinary Clinic in 1977. In February of 2014 Dr. Jesper Lorentzen (Dr. Jesper) purchased the practice with the intentions of caring out the same high standards of veterinary care as Dr. Winters had for 37 years. Dr. Jesper graduated from Virginia Tech in 200 and worked in Emergency Medicine for 10 years before starting a family and realizing that nights, weekends and holidays would not be suitable for his family.
Dr.Jesper and staff strive to offer the best medicine and services to the residents and pets of Mechanicsville and the surrounding areas as well as offering house calls for more convenience. We treat dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chickens, and ducks. With the help of wildlife and rehabilitation experts, we also treat a wide variety of wildlife from all parts of Richmond.
Dr.Jesper and staff strive to offer the best medicine and services to the residents and pets of Mechanicsville and the surrounding areas as well as offering house calls for more convenience. I haven't been here in several years, I visited again because one of my dragons had a problem with blood in her stool. They roughly examined her, guessed at what it could be, incorrectly dosed her with medication and she coded when I got home. I went back immediately and they attempted to administer epinephrine and were unsure of the dose. To make a long story short, one of the closest extensions of me, an animal I loved more than anything..died in my arms after they couldn't do anything to fix what they had done.

This vet charge me for 2 cages for st.bernards full sized and put both in 1 cage. An employee had ask me why I didn't put them in 2 cages I told them 2 I played for. I don't recommend them to anyone.

I have been taking my pets to Hanover Green for over 30 years and when I needed help putting my 11 year on Lab with leukemia down I was told there would be an additional $85 charge and would have to wait with him in waiting room until they have time. Is this how you treat a loyal customer who's got to put his faithful friend down?

Disappointed...while waiting in exam room, I could overhear vet and assistant discussing my animal's problem. They were talking about me like I was the worst pet owner but yet I took the day off and was there for treatment. I spent quite a bit of money on lab work and other things. I wish there was some compassion. People do the best they can for their pets. Pet insurance is a joke so don't put down those owners who can't afford to bring in their pets weekly for follow ups, etc.

We visited Dr. Jesper in an emergency situation because our vet was out of town. Dr. Jesper and the entire staff were so welcoming and accommodating! Dr. Jesper clearly loves animals and the office staff were very understanding of our situation, and they all did everything they could do help us during a difficult time. Not many vets are able to treat guinea pigs, but Dr. Jesper did an amazing job and he was extremely compassionate. Thank you to everyone at Hanover Green Veterinary Clinic!

I have gone to Hanover Green for years, all my pets have extra special needs and they are always there to find answers. They are always compassionate and try to find the best solution for pet and owner. My husband recently passed away resulting in money being tight, of course this is when my oldest dog gets hurt they tried to do everything as cost effectively and efficient as possible. When you go to Hanover green you and your pets become apart of the family not just another animal! Everyone there always has a kind manner and is willing to do what it takes. We adore Dr Rush and look forward to the whole staff caring for our pets for years to come! So thankful for HG!

The best place to get compassionate and experienced veterinary care for your fur babies!! I have been using Hanover Green for the past 15 years! The staff is compassionate and caring and when I lost my best friend to cancer almost a year ago, they mourned his loss with me! The receptionists all gave hugs, sent a card, and the compassion and professionalism Dr Creasy showed during the hardest time in my life made the situation less horrible! I can go on and on about this place, but trust me when I say that there is no place I would rather have care for my fur children!!

We have an Old English Sheepdog that has neurological issues which make him "not happy" at vets and groomers. Recently, we discovered a 2 1/2 inch stick lodged in the roof of his mouth.Hanover Green has been working with us for almost a year to give our dog a better frame of mind and a better life by treating his disorder-and successfully I might add. The stick presented a particularly difficult problem, but Dr. Creasy and Dr. Jesper, as well as the vet techs, came through for us in their usually marvelous manner. We can't say enough good things about this clinic and the professional staff. We are so happy to see the care they give to every animal-not just our two dogs.

At Hanover Green, Dr. Jesper and his staff are wonderful. When we take our dogs there for checkups, shots or sick visits it's always a great experience! They truly love animals there and my dogs are not afraid at all when we go. Especially my German Shepard Coco who bust through the door like "I'm here" haha... I love that when I walk in they say hello and call me by name and my animals by their name. They truly take an interest in knowing and remembering who you and your pets are. They have great hours that allow you to drop off before work and pick up after work with no additional charge. I highly recommend Hanover Green!

They took a picture of the dog and documented my information in case someone came to them looking for her. I would certainly use them in the future for my animals as well. My family has been coming to Hanover Green since 1979! In the last several years, as our cats have gotten older, the staff has helped us through many issues: several emergencies, managing chronic illnesses, and even hospice care for 2 of our dear cats nearing the end. All the staff here love animals, and they've been incredibly supportive and compassionate through the many ups and downs we've gone through with our chronically ill kitties. We're clients for life!

They were wonderful in keeping my cat Snow even though he was a bit testy at first. They really had a great attitude with handling him and were very sweet to he and I throughout his stay. Quality service, great prices for kennel stays. I would recommend this place to anyone. The only bad thing was I had to give him a bath after getting home because he was a little stinky. I don't know if that was from the litter box or not. However I had a wonderful experience with them and will definitely use their services again.

If you need a vet with a great demeanor and truly cares about your animals then you need to see Dr. Jesper! He and his staff literally saved my dogs life today. Dr. Jesper stayed after hours to do emergency surgery on my dog because we believed he had an obstruction in his stomach and sure enough he did. Had it not been for him and the right guidance I could have lost my boy. I am so grateful a friend lead me to this practice you now have a lifetime client. I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful practice!

Hanover Green wanted full payment before faxing the lab results. I barely had money for the vet visit. Because the new vet had no labs to compare, the only recourse was to put her down.

I won't be coming back. Dr. Creasy used to be caring and kind, but now she's loud and overbearing. I've gotten two lectures from her in fewer than 4 months (about particularly healthy and well-loved dogs!) She also refuses to administer her (incredibly overpriced) vaccinations to my dog in a single visit, thus increasing the cost of bringing my dogs for routine care. I will not be returning to that hot, dirty office where everyone cares enough to think your pets are cute, but not enough to make sure that they are cared for.

Having known the staff from both sides of the desk, I cannot say a bad thing about any of them! They are compassionate people who give EVERYTHING (often beyond the normal work day) to care for their client's pets like their own!

I have gone to Hanover Green for years, all my pets have extra special needs and they are always there to find answers. They are always compassionate and try to find the best solution for pet and owner. My husband recently passed away resulting in money being tight, of course this is when my oldest dog gets hurt they tried to do everything as cost effectively and efficient as possible. When you go to Hanover green you and your pets become apart of the family not just another animal! Everyone there always has a kind manner and is willing to do what it takes. We adore Dr Rush and look forward to the whole staff caring for our pets for years to come! So thankful for HG!

The best place to get compassionate and experienced veterinary care for your fur babies!! I have been using Hanover Green for the past 15 years! The staff is compassionate and caring and when I lost my best friend to cancer almost a year ago, they mourned his loss with me! The receptionists all gave hugs, sent a card, and the compassion and professionalism Dr Creasy showed during the hardest time in my life made the situation less horrible! I can go on and on about this place, but trust me when I say that there is no place I would rather have care for my fur children!!

I have been using Hanover Green for 15 years! ALL of the staff are absolutely amazing and I trust the vets completely! I live in Chesterfield and it is worth the drive for quality care!

We have an Old English Sheepdog that has neurological issues which make him "not happy" at vets and groomers. Recently, we discovered a 2 1/2 inch stick lodged in the roof of his mouth.Hanover Green has been working with us for almost a year to give our dog a better frame of mind and a better life by treating his disorder-and successfully I might add. The stick presented a particularly difficult problem, but Dr. Creasy and Dr. Jesper, as well as the vet techs, came through for us in their usually marvelous manner. We can't say enough good things about this clinic and the professional staff. We are so happy to see the care they give to every animal-not just our two dogs.

At Hanover Green, Dr. Jesper and his staff are wonderful. When we take our dogs there for checkups, shots or sick visits it's always a great experience! They truly love animals there and my dogs are not afraid at all when we go. Especially my German Shepard Coco who bust through the door like "I'm here" haha... I love that when I walk in they say hello and call me by name and my animals by their name. They truly take an interest in knowing and remembering who you and your pets are. They have great hours that allow you to drop off before work and pick up after work with no additional charge. I highly recommend Hanover Green!

This is not my regularly vet, however, I found a dog and contacted them to see if they would read for a microchip. The dog did not have one, however, the staff was extremely helpful. They took a picture of the dog and documented my information in case someone came to them looking for her. I would certainly use them in the future for my animals as well. Glad they were willing to help me!

My family has been coming to Hanover Green since 1979! In the last several years, as our cats have gotten older, the staff has helped us through many issues: several emergencies, managing chronic illnesses, and even hospice care for 2 of our dear cats nearing the end. All the staff here love animals, and they've been incredibly supportive and compassionate through the many ups and downs we've gone through with our chronically ill kitties. We're clients for life!

They were wonderful in keeping my cat Snow even though he was a bit testy at first. They really had a great attitude with handling him and were very sweet to he and I throughout his stay. Quality service, great prices for kennel stays. I would recommend this place to anyone. The only bad thing was I had to give him a bath after getting home because he was a little stinky. I don't know if that was from the litter box or not. However I had a wonderful experience with them and will definitely use their services again.

If you need a vet with a great demeanor and truly cares about your animals then you need to see Dr. Jesper! He and his staff literally saved my dogs life today. Dr. Jesper stayed after hours to do emergency surgery on my dog because we believed he had an obstruction in his stomach and sure enough he did. Had it not been for him and the right guidance I could have lost my boy. I am so grateful a friend lead me to this practice you now have a lifetime client. I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful practice!

I had an outstanding balance of about $60. I had to move to live with friends. I was out of work. My dog had an emergency crisis. The new vet needed a copy of the past labs. Hanover Green wanted full payment before faxing the lab results. I barely had money for the vet visit. Because the new vet had no labs to compare, the only recourse was to put her down.

I won't be coming back. Dr. Creasy used to be caring and kind, but now she's loud and overbearing. I've gotten two lectures from her in fewer than 4 months (about particularly healthy and well-loved dogs!) She also refuses to administer her (incredibly overpriced) vaccinations to my dog in a single visit, thus increasing the cost of bringing my dogs for routine care. I will not be returning to that hot, dirty office where everyone cares enough to think your pets are cute, but not enough to make sure that they are cared for.
