Really pleased with my experience so far. Across the board, everyone at Animal Eye Care of Richmond is smart, professional and compassionate. Dr. Blair had to perform emergency surgery on my Springer and he strikes me as a very talented and hard working veterinarian who communicates very well. Update-My beloved Springer is still under treatment by Dr. Blair for a corneal graft, but she's been cleared to play by a tech and she's really her old self again. She wants to play ball all day long and she seems to be seeing the ball around 95%. She's back to catching her ball mid air again. Read Less

Best facility for your pet's specialty eye care needs. Exceptional doctors and techs with transparent and affordable pricing. I drove close to 2 hours to take my dog here and haven't regretted it. Front desk staff are not friendly and kind. Every interaction I've had with them (besides the older receptionist -- she's fabulous) has been met with rude attitudes. If this changed, this place would be close to perfect. Clean facility. Would go back -- just would like to see genuine customer service as it's a shame they are the first and last people to assist customers. Read Less

My vet recommended that I go see Dr. Blair at his facility for my dog's eye tumor removal. I'm glad I made the drive as it was well worth it.  Dr. Blair is very well put together, beautiful new facility, and he is very straight to the point with his recommendations.  He ended up taking my dog the same day for the surgery.  Unfortunately my dog is developing an early stage cataract and Dr. Blair was honest enough to let us know that it's an extremely high risk in the breed we own and not worth it and best to monitor it.  That is exactly the type of vet we like to see.  One who is honest, knows the breeds, and great bedside manners. Thank you for taking care of my dog's eyelid tumor.  No more squinting and we look forward to seeing you for our follow up appointment. Read Less

My veterinarian recommend this office to my family and I for our sweet little dog. I'm so glad we brought her here not only because their office was one of the few that specialized in ophthalmology, but also because they are experienced. This location is fairly new and very nicely well kept. It is definitely clean! It is in midlothian on the Powhatan county line. I love that the staff is friendly and Dr. Bosiak was great! They made you feel welcomed and comfortable with leaving your dog. Although it is pricey just like any animal care place it is definitely worthwhile and your pet will be treated kindly. I was very satisfied with my dogs care for her eye issues. And I would recommend this office to friends and family to bring their pets. P. S. They have a horse barn so they do serve animals of various sizes and needs. Read Less

A little over a year ago, we took a rescued mare to have squamous cell carcinomas removed from both of her eyes. The entire time we were there, we felt the staff could care less and even had us load her up in the trailer even though she was still heavily sedated because another horse trailer came. That isn't the worst of it as they put her on the wrong medications (poly-dex) which created terrible ulcers in both eyes and our vet was worried she would lose her eyesight. Luckily after many weeks and several hundred dollars, she recovered. Read Less

My 15-year-old dog Angelina went totally blind from glaucoma and cataracts. We went to see Dr. Bosiak and she gave us eyedrops to relieve the pressure in Angie's eyes. she said it was like she had a constant migraine. After the second visit and the pressure was still pretty high and she put us on a second kind of eyedrops and told us to come back in a month. when I made that appointment the receptionist was insistent that Angie not eat or drink in case the drops didn't work she would need surgery. I informed her we had no intention of doing the surgery. for one thing we didn't have the money for another thing and she was 15 years old! On the day of the appointment I was in the hospital so my 17-year-old daughter had to take Angie to the appointment at which point the technician informed her that the pressure was now much higher and that she was in excruciating pain. I had told my daughter she is not going to get the surgery that we would have her put down if the drops didn't work. With the doctor in the room and not saying a word the technician and the receptionist were pressuring my distraught daughter to get the surgery because if it was their dog that's what they would do. They were totally out of line and the doctor should have called them out of the room and told him to shut up ...it was not their concern or their business. Very unprofessional staff. Read Less
