We went here because of redness following a surgery our dog had two days ago. It is the weekend and this place was open. We are the only customers here. The vet confirmed it was bruising not an infection and then tried to sell us a $100 plus test. What she didn’t disclose was the treatment for failing that testing cost in the thousands of dollars. It then took over 30 minutes for them to discharge us. I would not recommend them. No caring all business. Try Dr Bill’s Pet Infirmary. Read Less

Came on short notice with an ailing dog. They were very fast, and they were up-front about costs and benefits, before performing any expensive diagnostics or procedures.

Over 30 minutes in an exam room just sitting there waiting for them to finally pull us back into the lobby to discharge our cat. They discharge our cat with an open wound no cone no bandage.

There aren't a option for NO STARS. I went to them (45 minutes drive one way), then I had to wait a hour, before my son raised his voice, to get some help. The nurse came in, and I asked her to give my puppy an IV... For dehydration, and she told me to wait for the doctor!.... 20 minutes later, my son had to call them AGAIN, cause it looked like my puppy was dying.!! Long story short - the vet never administrate the IV (wich was VERY NECESSARY).. And she gave me a bill of $4000.00 if I leave my puppy there, then she said even then there is no guarantee that she would make it. I didn't have that money, so she suggested to put her out, cause according to the vet, she was DEFINITELY going to die through the night.... I said NO! And I took my puppy , put her in the car pay a bill of $188.00 for what, I'm not sure... Cause she didn't get ANY help!! I gave her pedialight through the night... And guess what??!! She's walking around, and start to drink water on her own . DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE IF ITS AN EMERGENCY. THE WILL LET THEM DIE WHILE YOU WAITING, OR PUT HER OUT!! Read Less

I had to make the unfortunate decision to put down my recently adopted lab Saturday morning. I cannot express the pain of having to watch her go when only two weeks before I had promised her a new start and an end to her year in the shelter. The staff at this clinic were incredible and wonderfully empathic. They all answered my questions and listened patiently as I talked incoherently through my crying. Thank you for making a heartbreaking situation far more bearable with your compassion. Read Less

So I know my review is higher than the others and I'm sorry that the others had a bad experience. My husband and I had a wonderful experience. Our boxer had an allergic reaction and after giving her some Benadryl the welts would not decrease We took her straight to the emergency vet at 7:00 and was welcomed by a very nice guy named spencer. They took our girl straight back and immediately administered medication to help with swelling. While we waited for the medicine to kick in we were greeted by dr Krause. I have to say that if I lived in Richmond she would have been my main vet. She was knowledgeable and informed us that she has a specialty in dermatology. She also took the time to explain to us what signs we needed to look for incase of an emergency and offered to have our dog come back the next day for another shot of Benadryl if needed with no consultation charge. I know every vet is different and I would highly recommend dr Krause especially if your animal has any sort of skin issue. We love our dogs like they our children. Also this is my first online review because I felt the need to let everyone know how great the staff was the night of 12/23/2012. Read Less

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!! We took our boxer here last week because he was having issues with his hind legs all of a sudden. It was about 10:30pm. After a very long winded conversation with Dr. Almon, who made no sense, we agreed to have him x-rayed and give him a blood test. They found nothing and told us we could either keep him sedate in his crate for two weeks (walk him once/day on a leash) and see if it gets better, or wait until 8am to schedule an MRI or CT Scan to see whether there was cancer or a blood clot or slipped disk. We explained to her that he was panting too hard to send him home and there was no way he would be sedate in his crate for two weeks. She said there was nothing else she could do and brought him out still panting very heavily with a towel under his hind legs so he could walk with his front paws. They sent us home with pain killers and anti-inflamatory medicine, which he couldn't take because we couldn't calm him long enough to even enough to even drink water. We took him home and he continued to worsen and could no longer use his hind legs at all. We called back at 4:30am and they must have been asleep when they answered the phone because the girl who answered said (hello), I said is this the emergency vet, she laughed and said "oh yeah". It was Dr Almon and I told her we would have to bring Cayden back because he was much worse and had not settled down one bit. She said "well we close at 8am". I said we can't just leave him like this, he is going to have a heart attack. She said well there really isn't anything we can do since we close at 8am. I put my husband on the phone and he told her we were bringing him back because there was no way we could just let him suffer for another 4 hours, she finally agreed and we went back to the vet. After about 30 minutes they came out and said he was definately worse and paralized but they were unable to sedate him. We ended up putting him down so he wouldn't have to suffer until 8am. It was a horrible exprerience and they had no compassion and they made a fateful decision making us take our suffering dog home for him to needlessly suffer for another 4 hours at home in pain. So for $1k we got no compassion and they have no means to make your dog comfortable until you can get an actual professional to have a look at him. Read Less

I was sitting in the waiting room and a doctor came out and handed this girl a dirty old pink blanket. At first I didn't know what it was, but then I heard them talking and realized it was her deceased pet. She asked why she had to wait an hour when she she called last night and it wasn't even in the box and they did not do the pawprint. The doctor gave a blank stare and asked what she was talking about, after some yelling and crying a girl from the back came up with the folder and showed the doctor the request the girl had called in 2 days before. The doctor said something I did not hear, then I heard that she would have to wait another 3 or 4 hours before they would be able to get it done. What a wonderful christmas present for someone on christmas eve. Read Less
