My family was on vacation in Smith Mountain Lake when my 9 y/o caught a big one - our border collie mix - poor baby got a fish hook stuck in her jowl. We were unable to push it through ourselves so we Googled the closest vet and were so happy to find Westlake and Dr. Barnes! She and her staff were friendly and used humor to put our minds at ease, we were nervous about having her sedated so far from home, but this group clearly loves animals and their people. The hook was removed quickly and they stayed with us until she came around just to make sure she was doing OK. You can absolutely trust Dr. Barnes and her whole office with the pets you love, what a wonderful group of professionals at this practice!!!

His diagnosis was very thorough and he did an excellent job of explaining so that I could understand.I have a house at SML, and will be now taking my dogs here instead of NOVA pet hospital as he was great with my dog and his prices are very reasonable.

Amazing people and place! I had a bad experience with adopting a kitten from the animal shelter. The kitten was covered in fleas despite me being told she was treated for fleas. I called around in a panic and Westlake Veterinary Medical Center were the only people willing to help me and not charge me a fortune. They were unbelievably friendly and answered my 500 questions. They even sent me home with a goodie bag. I will definitely be back! They are very down to earth, nice people who honestly care about animals!!

These guys are the best, Luke is a caring, knowledgeable, kind vet. The entire staff treats you like family and over time becomes an extension of yours! Luke will research, consult and refer if something isn't familiar. However his knowledge base is so extensive from years of treating so many diverse cases. This is a family run practice and it feels every bit of that!

Dr. Luke is the best vet that I have taken my dogs to. He is very knowledgeable and explains things in a way that are easy for you to understand. He actually cares about your animals which is very different than some of the vets I have been to. His services are also very reasonably priced. I will not take my dogs anywhere else even though his office is over an hour from our house.

One of the great things about Dr. DelPo is that he treats his patients like they should be treated. He is meticulous and very friendly. He has great bed-side manners and our pets think he is great. He does tests that are prudent, and has a lot of common sense, as one would expect.
I can not say enough good things about him, his staff, --and the care our furry friends have received.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I love Dr. Delpo, I've been taking my dogs here for 3 years and he genuinely cares about them. My beagle had a weird skin condition last year that was difficult to diagnose and Dr. Delpo didn't rest until he figured out what it was, he even went so far as to send out a biopsy to several other vets throughout the country.

Dr. Luke is an awesome vet who has for years seen and cared for a number of different dogs belonging to different family members and friends. Several weeks ago, after reading that Dr. Anna Barnes, a new (to Smith Mountain Lake) doctor with aviary and exotic pet experience, had joined Dr. Luke I made an appointment to have my Cockatiel (Petey) checked out and wings clipped. Dr. Barnes personally examined Petey, carefully clipped his wings explaining the process as she went through it and after examining him advised that his nails did not need clipping. She is a great add to an wonderful business and I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire experience.

We came to Westlake last year for the summer. One of my dogs became ill. I asked around and Dr. Luke was recommended. Although my sweet baby did not make it, Dr. Luke and staff were great in her treatment and compassion during the week long process. I now use him as my primary vet. for my other dog since we come each summer. I highly recommend Dr. Luke and his staff.

Wonderful care for your pet at more than reasonable prices. I have been to other vets before we moved to SML and dreaded the bill because it was always a shock. The staff here are very friendly, very competent and you feel like you can take your pet there more often for check ups and care because it is affordable. When I lived in another city, it was cheaper to take the children to a pediatrition than to take your pet to a vet.

My family was on vacation in Smith Mountain Lake when my 9 y/o caught a big one - our border collie mix - poor baby got a fish hook stuck in her jowl. We were unable to push it through ourselves so we Googled the closest vet and were so happy to find Westlake and Dr. Barnes! Amazing people and place! I had a bad experience with adopting a kitten from the animal shelter. The kitten was covered in fleas despite me being told she was treated for fleas. I love Dr. Delpo, I've been taking my dogs here for 3 years and he genuinely cares about them. My beagle had a weird skin condition last year that was difficult to diagnose and Dr. Delpo didn't rest until he figured out what it was, he even went so far as to send out a biopsy to several other vets throughout the country.

We came to Westlake last year for the summer. One of my dogs became ill. I asked around and Dr. Luke was recommended. Although my sweet baby did not make it, Dr. Luke and staff were great in her treatment and compassion during the week long process. Wonderful care for your pet at more than reasonable prices. I have been to other vets before we moved to SML and dreaded the bill because it was always a shock. The staff here are very friendly, very competent and you feel like you can take your pet there more often for check ups and care because it is affordable.
