Absolutely love Montpelier Vet! We don't even live nearby but we bring our Toy Fox Terrier here because he gets expert care and boarding. When take him to Montpelier Vet he gets excited and runs right in. They also have great receptionists that are always willing to help. Read Less

Took our family GSD in for her shots who is VERY friendly towards people our 5 young children under the age of 6 and our other dogs new and old. The vet said my dog was a threat because I muzzled her after the vet tech obviously hurt her butt hole when taking her temp and started crying and a little growl from being in pain NOT her normal self but I can't blame her for not wanting something painful in her butt! The vet was totally rude and unprofessional about having to tell me about shot info and said my wonderful and friendly dog that we take EVERYWHERE with us was not fit to have puppies or be around other people because she didn't like any of them touching her after they put her in pain. Saw Dr. Alison today and have also seen Dr. Scott at other times. She was terrific with my dogs. She is very thorough and explained everything carefully. One important thing I have noticed is they always take you in on time without having to wait in the reception room for more than a few minutes. I very much appreciate that as I consider my time to be valuable also. I have nothing but good things to say about their practice. They were highly recommended to me and I have not been disappointed. Probably the best vet I've been to yet! They know jus about everything and are great at explaining it all. They care about what they do and that's what I love the most. It's not jus a job to them, it's bettering people's/animals lives and loving to do it. I am amazed of the hospitality and great work they did. I can't imagine trusting my pets to anyone else. Drs. Alison and Scott are caring, compassionate, honest, and truly will work towards a care plan that works for owner and pet. They always give multiple treatment options, including how they would treat their own. The staff treat my pets like I would imagine they treat their own, take time to get to know them, and I have had them go out of their way many times to accommodate me. I started hearing some really negative feedback and today I experienced it first hand. Amanda a the front desk was completely unpleasant UNHELPFUL and just plain seemed as if she did not care. Robotic more than human. I have several pets and we have always gone there. Eliie's 1 year check up was due aug 28 and we hadn't been yet because kitty's is due this week or next so I was going to kill 2 birds with one stone and get Ellie spayed too. Well Ellie has picked up fleas from somewhere, I wanted a pill for her of course...... NO cant do that her check up is over due by 7 days. so I ask about topical cant give a recommendation of the one THEY carry. I pick one - she give me 5-10 lb dog even thought her last several comfortis have been 10-20 lb of course I don't see this until I get home. I call Amanda and she says well she weighed 9.7 lb when we saw her last which was her freaking puppy visit... This would be Ellie's first "dog" check up with 3 yr rabies etc.... needless to say I have to go back up there switch medicine which she acted like she didn't want to do and it was a crime.... TIME for a NEW VET..... or customer facing help at least.Read Less

The worst vet hospital on the planet gave my 14 week old puppy a round of shots including rabies well when I got home with them he had diarrhea nonstop this was on a Wednesday I called them Saturday morning and I was told that he probably got stressed out about something and I told them my dog has a better life than most people I explained that the diarrhea started after all the shots they gave him I was not given any type of medical advice as a matter fact I was told that in three weeks when he was due to come back for his set of booster shot they would check to see with the diarrhea problem was can you believe that!!!!! I was supposed to let my dog have  diarrhea for three weeks  he would probably be dead by then wow is all I can say !!!!!!!!skip this place at all costs.I will be driving my dog into Richmond before I bring him back to this place what a joke this place was and by the way their main concern is selling you all kinds of stuff but when you call with a question about a medical problem your dog has that doesn't seem to be a concern dogs should not get rabies before 16 weeks old.
