Our experience was extraordinary and life saving. Our Cat was very close to death, very high temperature. We received immediate attention from Staff and Dr. Sekul , less than an hour the temperature was under control. He saved our Cats life. We referred our daughter to Dr. Sekul when her dog was very sick with high temperature and unable to walk. Once again Dr. Sekul came to the rescue. After X-rays and ultrasound he did emergency surgery which resulted in saving Gracy,s life (dog) He and Staff is one of a kind, we were able to make decisions together and was informed of all steps along the way. Dr. Les Sekut and his staff are absolutely amazing. From the time I arrived, Dr. Sekut and his staff expressed sincere compassion for my dog. When I was trying to get my dog out of the car, my poor dog was so weak she fell to the ground. A staff member rushed out to my rescue, picked my dog up and carried her inside. My dog was seen immediately. I left my dog over night for treatment and staff called me in the morning before the clinic opened to give me an update on how my dog was doing. THAT WAS AWESOME. My dog ended up needing surgery, to save her life. Dr. Sekut performed the surgery and did an exceptional job. HE SAVED MY BABY’S LIFE!! Dr. Sekut took his time and made sure my dog was going to be ok. He is very patient and does not rush his patients( animals). Dr. Les Sekut is the most knowledgeable and caring vet I have ever met. Took my dog in as an emergency on a Saturday. Dr. Sekut came back in the next day to perform the surgery for less than an emergency vet would charge and he also removed a huge liver tumor that my regular vet had said was too risky too and costly to remove. Love this place's care and passion for helping animals. The vet himself is very educated on animal health and wellness. However 90% of the time when I call no one answers the phone at the front desk. Dr. Sekut is absolutely phenomenal! After being turned away from my usual veterinarian for my 7 pound kitten being "too aggressive", I was worried no vet would see him. Came in to get my birds nails clipped. The nurse was amazing, she had birds as well and was able to share great Insight with me. The doctor didn't really seem interested in talking about my animal and didn't seem concerned when he was holding his foot weird after getting his nails clipped, I felt sort of brushed off like my concerns weren't legitimate. After my Italian Greyhound sustained a horrible leg break, followed by an infection, Dr. Sekut was very dedicated to controlling the situation and repairing the damage, all the while explaining everything and not pushing anything that wasn't necessary. I came here on a whim today because it's Saturday and I didn't want to take my dog to the emergency vet again. In doing so, I'm pretty sure I accidentally found my dog a new vet! I could tell immediately that Dr. Sekut cares about his furry patients, as he went above and beyond for my dog with bladder cancer today, even though the office was approaching closing time. I walked in there, thinking I'd be leaving without my dog, but I walked out with a whole new, positive outlook because he took the extra time to investigate her condition. My wallet wasn't hurting as bad as what I'm used to either. Also, unrelated to animal care, but important to me: I got to witness his interactions with his staff in the back room, during my dog's ultrasound. We just brought our dog here because of his stomach problems and I don't even know where to begin with the fabulous service we got. You can fill out new client paper work before going into the office which is really helpful when you are a petite girl with an 80 pound dog. Once we were there I was quickly put into a room, being that my dog was going crazy around another dog. The doctor was in our room within 5 minutes and spent about an hour with us going through all the possibilities of why my dog was so sick. He did not want to rip me off in anyway, he told me every blood test he thought would benefit us, what the test would show, and how the test was done. He was so sweet to my very shy dog, I could hear him talking to my dog in the back "oh my beautiful boy, you are so polite, you good boy". The vet tech was also incredible and very sweet to my dog. All our blood tests came back great, he was given a shot for his stomach along with three antibiotics. It hasn't even been 24 hours and my dog is completely back to normal. When it was time, he helped with sending two of our fur babies over the rainbow bridge in a very compassionate way. This is by far the best experience I have ever had at a vet. The ladies behind the desk introduced themselves immediately when I got there and came around to meet my dog. They are so friendly and personable and interested in getting to know your pet. Dr. Sekut is a passionate, smart, and caring veterinarian. He took such good care of my dog. After his procedure, they called to check in on him to see how he was doing. He is doing so much better. The office is open after normal hours and 6 days a week. I had the opportunity to visit this hospital today for my two morkies. Let me tell you, Dr. Sekutt was nothing less than amazing. He greeted us with a smile that was larger than life, very welcoming, and very energetic. He listens very well and encourages you to ask questions. He was patient and it did not feel as if we were rushed. The receptionist were very nice. For that one bad reviewer that stated they had to wait because Dr. Sekut was not in the office at the time of their appointment, should not discourage you. The receptionist paged him when he was out on his run and he came in promptly. It was not a long wait, but a wait that was well worth it. The facility was clean and the staff was awesome. I highly recommend this doctor to care for your pet. Also, as I was waiting while one of my dogs was getting seen, one of the customers was speaking very highly of him and stated that Dr. Sekut saved his dogs life when no one else knew what was going on. This was my first time here even though I have owned pets my whole life. We came because this was the first place listed that was open past noon on a Saturday and I'm so glad we came to him. He is probably the most passionate veterinarian I've ever met and he truly cares about the animal and not about how much he can tack on to the bill. My dog is super ill and at this stage we don't know how long it will take her to get better since she is very old....I don't even want to think about the alternative. I've noticed some people complain about how long they have to sit in the waiting room or the actual rooms and it's pretty laughable. He is the only doctor, this is his office, when emergency's happen, they aren't scheduled. You will be glad when your animal is laying on the floor because she can't move her legs anymore and is in serious pain that he puts you before anyone else and gets your animal the help it needs. Dr. Sekut is the best! He is such a wonderful and thorough veterinarian and above all a genuinely kind man. He takes an interest in our family and always makes sure we are fully knowledgeable about our options for pet care, potential side effects after treatment, and mannerisms to watch out for as our pet gets older. Whenever he sees our dachshund his face lights up with enthusiasm and he runs over to give him kisses. We trust him 100%. He is in the business to care for animals and you can tell that's his #1 goal. Certainly there are many options in Newport News for veterinary care, some more cost effective, but I feel so much better going to Newport News Animal Hospital where I know my animal is receiving the best treatment.
