I really like this vet hospital. They are professional, friendly,  AFFORDABLE, patient, and most importantly (to me) down to earth. I was able to walk right in with my injured dog,  no appointment,  and get seen..  From my experience today,  they didn't seem to hide anything unlike other vet hospitals,  the vet personally came out and talked to me thoroughly. this is definitely the best vet we have ever used. they are all very nice every employee. very informative. we never feel rushed ever. they are a bit pricey but the vet is the nicest lady she's great with our dogs we had to move unfortunately and have yet to find a place as good as them. they always get you in on time and always are gentle and caring and answer our 100 questions with a smile and good info. our dogs are our joy and should be treated the best way possible and this place is spot on. everyone in the Norfolk Chesapeake area needs to go here Read Less

I take both of my dogs here and they take great care of them! The front desk and the rest of the staff always make me feel more than welcome. I bring both of my dogs in even if only needs to go, and while one is in the back there is always someone up front willing to chat with me or keep me updated! One of my dogs is VERY fearful, and a huge pain when I have to take her in, and I really appreciate their patience and kindness with her. In the last year, I switched care for my pet from another animal hospital in VB for one that was closer to my parents place. Since I took over the care of one of my pets since he now lives with me, I wanted to find a vet that provided a better experience. I saw nothing but great reviews about Dr. Gawda, and decided to try it out. My dog is now 9 and has had a variety of health issues. Each time I have gotten nothing but excellent care from every staff member. Roscoe has needed a checkup for a blocked bowel and back injury, a series of vaccines, and most recently dental cleaning that had to include teeth extractions. Anyone who knows my dog knows he can be a grump and a biter when it comes to new people and the vet. After one visit, most of the staff was familiar with his personality and despite being a grump, it seems everyone is fond of him when he returns! It's a great feeling knowing that the people taking care of him actually care about him and know his usual behavior. I can't give enough praise for Dr. Gawda. As the owner of an aging dog, the cost of care can be daunting. Every penny I have spent has been worth it because I know my dog has received the best care possible. She is not only an expert in pet health, but she has great skills with pet owners and the pets! My dog is in excellent health and the team did a fantastic job with his teeth extractions. I live in Suffolk now but I never mind taking the trip for Roscoe to see staff here. We took a little stray kitten in who we rescued from the heat and he wasn't even scared of the staff, which was a great sign that we were in the right place for our new little guy. I called in today, trying to be seen asap as an emergency. I explained to them that I had to leave work, get my dog, and head there as I do work a little far. They ensured me not to worry, and get there when I can. I was greeted with smiling faces at my arrival, and couldn't be happier with my experience. Dr. Gowda, and her team were phenomenal. They thoroughly explained everything to me, and encouraged me to call tomorrow if these symptoms persist. I recently switched from Banfield after an unsatisfactory annual exam for my pups and I am really glad I found this clinic. The personnel are so friendly and seem to really care about my fur babies as much as I do. I popped in to get a refill for one of my dog's medication and the vet tech told me to give my dog a booty scratch for her, I thought that was so sweet for her to remember that my dog loves booty scratches, but then again, what dog doesn't? :) Dr. Gowda is the vet we have seen on our two past visits and she is just so kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I totally love the staff here. My pitbull can get rowdy sometimes, but even he enjoyed being here. He was comfortable and friendly. Dr. Gawda was understanding and very easy to talk to. She was very knowledgeable and she had great customer service. The pricing was decent, and I love the fact that they open 0730-1230 on Saturdays. This is perfect for military personnel! Our baby, Julianna, was diagnosed with IMHA in 2014. Desperate for a cure to save her, my mom came across Dr. Plechner's research and reached out to him. He called her immediately and developed a treatment plan for her. Our vet at the time of over 20 years refused to give Julianna the treatment that Dr. Plechner suggested despite both his research and our pleas. Dr. Plechner suggested that we take Julianna to Dr. Pozniak. One call to Dr. Pozniak and she, without hesitation, was willing to see us. The next day. Dr. Pozniak administered the first treatment to Julianna and also developed a dietary plan for her. I cry still to this day because I am so moved by the love that both she and Dr. Plechner showed to us. Dr. Pozniak was kind, compassionate, empathetic, and hopeful. She treated Jules like a living soul and not a lost cause - an experience we did not have at our previous vet. Not only that, but since we lived five hours away we didn't know the area very well. She let us follow her part of the way home, so we wouldn't get lost. Both she and Dr. Plechner gave us a gift that will never be forgotten or equaled - peace. Peace in knowing that we weren't the only ones who were fighting for Jules. Peace in knowing that Julianna was given her very best chance. Peace in knowing that we were able to love Julianna the way she deserved to be loved and the way she had loved us every day she was with us. Peace in knowing that even though Julianna crossed the rainbow bridge a couple months later, we did everything that we could have done to save her. That is a gift that will always move me to tears. Those two doctors changed our lives forever. After Julianna passed, Dr. Pozniak even sent us a sympathy card. Both Dr. Plechner and Dr. Pozniak are proof that there are people in this world who live simply to see it bettered. I know that our lives and the lives of countless others have experienced miracles because of the work of these two vets. We are blessed to be able to say the same. Our family has been taking pets to Dr. Pozniak for many years; we have all benefited from her kindness and commitment to total care of our furry babies. Dr. Connie and her team have seen us through many good times and also recently helped us through the heartbreak of losing a beloved companion. We are so grateful for the love and care you gave our kitty, Baxter, over the years. Baxter's health problems became evident last fall, and throughout the past months Dr. Connie, Kim, Shannon, Gwen and Genesis provided such great care to him, and wonderful support to us. His fluid therapy in your care gave us a very happy last month with our special boy. We had much anxiety over how we would say goodbye to Baxter. My dog has a terminal illness. That is what every veterinarian told us..."nothing you can do."  That was until I was referred by a friend to Dr. Pozniak. Dr. Pozniak spent over 90 minutes with our dog Stu and us. She sat with him on the floor, lovingly, tenderly  and compassionately. Not one time, not once!,did she say he was hopeless. Instead, she developed a plan, just like that. A plan that we've flollowed..not complicated..a few natural  additions to his food, a change in diet (and all along, she explained why...cut out sugar/starches, they feed the tumor, the herbs curb tumor growth, boost his immune system ). I could go on for hours as to how I feel we were lead to her intentionally. But, bottom line..our dog Stu is back to his old self. His coat is beautiful and his quality of life is awesome. Is the tumor gone?  I don't know. It is harder to find. But he us happy.  Comfortable. Bright eyed and beautiful. Definitely not the dog who had, chewed raw spots on himself, was losing his coat, he was dull and lethargic. That was 8 months ago. If I could double the amount of stars in this review, I would. Our beloved Shepard Mix was diagnosed with a cancer not commonly found in dogs. The veterinarian we normally saw said there was nothing we could do, and I should prepare to lose my dog soon. Heartbroken, we looked for an alternative, or at least a second opinion. I honestly feel we were led to Dr, Pozniak. She spent over an hour and a half with us. Her tenderness and compassion, not only to us, but more importantly to my dog, was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. She spoke to him, gently assessed him, never once, not one time, suggested he was going to die soon. Dr. Pozniak prescribed an entirely different diet (not one she was selling, by the way), two herbs and a medication. That was seven months ago. Today, Stu's quality of life is superb, appetite is great, his coat is beautiful, and he's a happy old guy.. This result would CLEARLY never have happened without Dr. Pozniak's expertise, exemplary knowledge and vision. We remain, and will forever be grateful to Dr. Pozniak, her incredible staff, (who treat Stu like a family member), but the really, really best part I have had the privilege to witness first hand; Dr. Pozniak and her gifted staff treat every patient like family. Since moving to Virginia Beach from Maryland, my wife and I have been taking our family pets to Dr. Pozniak for both her standard and wholistic veterinary services, as well as for the fantastic doggy day care opportunities at the facility. We have found Dr. Pozniak to be nothing less than a kind, charming, professional and wonderfully talented vet who never waivers from a total caring approach to our animals when treating them. We were growing increasingly concerned with our 11 year old Husky/shep. mix. He just was not acting like his normal self. We took him to his regular vet. (as much as I'd like to name drop here, i won't) He has lost 4-5 lbs. he was pretty restless. We were not sure if his panting had become a concern. The "other" vet inspite of being told what we were concerned about, immediately started doing the hard sell on a bunch of stuff that we were not concerned with. Did a half assed wellness check, prescribed a broad spectrum antibiotic and we left there frustrated, still concerned and intent on finding a better vet. We found one! Dr. Pozniak. We were allowed to be present for everything which always makes me feel better. She answered a ton of questions. We were allowed to help soothe our sweet boy when he got scared. And the ladies at the front desk are very sweet. And vet tech Genesis (hope that's right) is awesome. I'm pretty sure they spent way more time than usual with us. We did some tests and got some great advice. In my search for the best possible food for our boy, I neglected to consider fiber in his diet and it turns out that he had a pretty good amount of "stuff" blocking his anal glands and had nearly reached an impasse so to speak. So now he is well on his way back to happy go lucky puppy. All our other concerns were put to rest with tests done in house (lab/blood work) and answers via test results to all the "worst things" we were afraid it might be. The very next day we got a call with the stool sample results (also good) and genuine concern for us and our pooch by none other than Dr. Pozniak herself. We feel vey relieved and grateful for being treated with respect and concern. Dr. Pozniak listened, really listened to our concerns and questions and talked to us very plainly and direct. I definitely agree with the last post by Linda Ford. I have visited many Vet's over the years and Dr. Pozniack is the best! She can find the answer when others say there is no answer. An example is when my 2 year old cat was diagnosed with one failed kidney and the other was failing. The general Vet and internal specialist Vet both said nothing else could be done. Thats when I made a visit to Dr. Pozniack. Three months later, my cats kidneys were working again! He lived to be 16 years old. Read Less

Incredible care. They use a combination of traditional and cutting edge medicine. My dog had a long list of medical issues. Through the use of creative therapy they gave my dog an wonderful quality of life. If medical research ever established that music could cure animals, I am certain that the staff would immediately form the local version of the Morman Tabernacle Choir. I have been going to Boulevard Veterinary for a very long time. When my family 1st moved to the Village this was the nears vet's office and was was run by Dr. Ward. Then Dr. Pozniak came along and she has given the best care that my pets could have received. I would not take my pet to anyone else. We have grown to be great friends and her office staff is great. Whenever we show up at the hospital, Annie jumps out of the truck, and is eager to greet the staff, and bravely face whatever medical necessities lurk behind the friendly staff! We were hooked on our first visit, as I was amazed at the comprehensive physical exam that Dr. Pozniak gave to Annie. Dr. Redding is attentive, patient and immensely knowledgeable. The staff are always polite and kinds. I love this place. I've been to dozens of vets as my cat and I have moved around while I went to Grad school and this is by far the best. I like the thorough holistic approach, and when needed they incorporate any western medicinal practice that may be necessary. Clean, fast, and they always fit me in for an appointment.
