Do not go to this location to get your dog fixed! I usually do not do any reviews nor do I ever complain but after watching my dog suffer for 8 days proceeded by this location telling me all they could do was check the incision and that if he was sick there was nothing they could do id have to go to another vet. MY 7 MONTH OLD PUPPY IS A VERY HEALTHY BOY!!!! He has never been sick prior to this horrible neuter job. I refused to return to this location. I went to our regular vet for a check. I was informed that there has been 4 other dogs within the last week with problems following spay/neuter with this facility. Inform yourself on different techniques for neuters. They cut my dogs scrotum and GLUED IT BACK TOGETHER. My dog is 51 pounds this technique is NOT intended for bigger dogs. I used to love what this company stood for but now that I see the carelessness they have for animals It’s hard to support them. This was NOT worth saving money on a neuter. I got my 8 month old puppy neutered here. The only good thing about the experience is they let me wait in an unused room because my puppy was under so much stress being in the crowded waiting room. Other than that, it wasn't a great experience. There's very little parking. The people at front aren't the nicest. They also called me about 30 minutes after my dog was "done" and asked if I could pick him up "because he was crying too much"......could've sworn they should be so drugged by the medicine they feel nothing at first. Guess not. (to give you an idea of how quick it was, I was told he wouldn't be ready until after 3-4ish, they called me at noon) I went and got my baby and he was bleeding everywhere. They said this was normal, but you can tell the amount of pain he was in wasn't normal. We got pain medicine but couldn't use it for the first few hours. I've never gotten a dog neutered but I've gotten a bunny and three cats (at a different place) and they literally sleep the entire first day because of the medicine wearing off. My puppy didn't sleep and just whined in pain all day. We also paid for a cone, which the one they gave us was so big and heavy he couldn't even lift his head to walk. We took it off the minute we got home(and never used it again) because it was ridiculously huge and weighed down his neck. Other than that he healed well and they gave us papers to care for him afterwards. We have a new baby that needs to be spayed and I don't know what possessed me to try to contact these people again. Dont bring your loved one here! I brought my bunny to be neutered. I signed for but did not receive after care paperwork. They charged a late fee but failed to tell me, they just gave me the bill. Most importantly, they gave me Expired pain meds! I thought our experience at this location could have been much better. Their surgery volume here is very high, took several days before they got back to me. There needs to be a location in Hampton. Customer Service could be better also, they're a bit unorganized. I had a horrible experience today and honestly am still in shock. I will be emailing everyone associated with this particular location to share my experience. Needless to say my family wasted 3 hours attempting to adopt a dog today after seeing the news articles about renovations and wanting to adopt the dogs out. My kitten had just gotten surgery and developed a clot near the incision, I took her back for what I thought was just a checkup and my kitten comes back out covered in blood, with an open wound from her tail. She's had a scab on her tail and they ripped it off and left the wound open, bleeding everywhere. If I could give 0 stars I would, my poor kitten is screaming in pain. My story with them goes back to October 2016. Harley tested positive for heartworms. I called after two other places wanted to charge me double for the treatment. They gave me hope for him at a price that was more affordable and broke down in detail what would happen and when. I can't begin to thank them enough for their caring and friendly attitude. I took Lexi here for teeth cleaning they had to do blood work cause she's 7. They found she had a uti, she been on antibiotics for awhile now took her back to vet yesterday for a follow up and she still has uti. They put her on a stronger antibiotic and I have to take her back in 3 weeks Read Less

I just had Lucy's (my dog) teeth cleaned and they ended up having to extract some teeth (knew they would). They took such great care of her and kept me abroad of how she was doing (during & after surgery) by phone. The staff there are so patient and understanding! Definitely will go back for any surgeries needed (hopefully none...lol). Highly recommend this facility. Read Less

I went for vaccines today at 9:30 left, well more like I was kicked out by Linda Gould. She refused to let me speak to her superior Robert Blizzard. Not only was she dismissive she was rude and acted real self entitled. Only reason why I patronage this location is because it's a NO KILL shelter, but I rather spend my money elsewhere and get my questions answered by people who want to provide good customer service. Overall, I had a good experience at the SPCA. My family and I were able to adopt a great puppy! However, I wish they had more organization and transparency when it comes to waiting in line for adoption (sign in?!), when adoptions happen (FB post didn't happen for my adoption but happened previously) and simple management and organizational skills that can make the process much better for everybody involved...walk-ins, prospective adopters, people who actually adopt AND SPCA volunteers and staff. This is an awesome facility. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were VERY AFFORDABLE! They were able to fit us in to get Shadow's shots up to date so that he could board before we left out of town. We needed to get our daughter off to college. I called other places and definitely received the run around and it was so helpful that they were able to come through for us so we could take him to his regular boarding facility with his friends. My husband and I rescued an abandoned 9 month old pitbull this past weekend. He has very serious separation anxiety issues that I was unsure how to deal with. We adopted two old dogs six years ago. They were brothers adopted from the same litter as puppies, kept for ten years, then returned to the shelter. How can people let their family members go like that. Well, these guys have traveled a lot, to Georgia one Christmas. To Maine last summer. And lots of places in between. We live on a lake which they enjoy swimming in or riding around in the canoe. They have a cat that keeps them in line. The cat likes to wash their faces, but attacks them as the run into the house. Here's my experience. I took my puppies, 4.5 month old brother and sister English Mastiffs, in to get fixed at the same time. She was 50lbs even and he was 63.8. I got them both fixed, with pre-anesthesia blood work, pain meds, microchipping and the cones for under $500. They were so sweet to my puppies who are still a bit nervous with strangers. When I picked them up I had my baby and older autistic son with me which took up both hands. They helped me load them into my car. They were both healing well until sister decided to help a brotha out and lick his incision for him. He started to get green seepage and some gaping. I called the SPCA Monday morning (they never answer BUT you leave a message and they always call back). They called me back an hour or so later and said bring him in. I had to wait a few minutes for the doctor to finish her surgery but she checked him out prescribed him antibiotics and hydro-therapy ($35). He is not fully healed yet but it looks so much better already. I am so grateful for the Norfolk SPCA for helping to affordably keep my babies healthy. Update*** my boy healed beautifully and was able to get his cone off right at 14 days after his neuter thanks to the Norfolk SPCA seeing him immediately and giving him antibiotics. Read Less

Wow!!! Got my dog neutered at this location. He developed a huge infection. They gave us no antibiotics or pain medication for the poor little guy. He is going to be ok thank god, after seeing a real vet. As far as cost I am now over 400 in bills but my dog is alive. The real vet couldn't believe what they did, they explained to me he would have died if I didnt bring him in.The ASPCA talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. No Care for animal life. Read Less

very nice people. not very expensive. only thing is this app is saying its open 24 hours everyday and its not. and me and my husband have been trying to make an appointment for our dog for a few weeks now and were told they were booked up for the next couple weeks and to call back on a different day so we could schedule an appointment whicj seems ridiculous to me, and we haven't been able to get a hold of them since then. I only gave this place a 1 because I had to provide a rating..I would not reccomend this place to anyone for their "low cost" clinic. I took my puppy there once for vaccines. Everything went well until I got home from work later that night. My puppy couldn't move, eat, or even bark with yelping in pain. They gave the injection in the muscle and caused swelling. Ended up taking him to the emergency vet. Cost me 115 dollars. Decided recently to take him back to get neutered since they did very well with our family when we had to put our other family dog down. He now has kennel cough from this shelter and had to spend another 95 dollars for a visit and meds at his vet. So unless your prepared to spend at least a hundred more after a visit then this is the place for you. Also....my other two dogs have also contacted kennel cough from the puppy and all 3 are updated on their shots Read Less

We have a wonderful puppy but we were forsed to pay double the price at the animal shelter. I have a bad taste for this place because they wrote the contract for $75. Then, said "oh we are charging you $150 today". We had already sign the contract for $75. She whited it out to write in $150. Now I think we should get the $75 back. I am telling everyone I can how the decieved us with the price changing. I am very upset that this has contuined and allowed to charge our credit card whatever they want.I cannot express how many ways this is wrong. Read Less
