I've been coming to Bon Air animal hospital for 15 years. This exemplary team of professionals have tended to, cared for, and literally saved many of my furry family members. Facing everything from rare diseases such as S.A.R.D.S, to the struggles of dealing with cancer and extreme digestive issues that would have ended the lives of my pets years before their inevitable passing, they've giving us not only hope, but actual results culminating in having our pets with us years longer.I cannot say enough about the doctors, the assistants, the front desk, and all staff that I have encountered in all of these years coming here. The authentic heart they have for all pets who come here for treatment is obvious.In this last round where our little chihuahua was brought back from the brink from intestinal issues, Dr Cline in particular was amazing and for not one moment did I feel I wasn't in the best hands with someone who was going to lookout for both my bank account and more importantly my sweet little family member.  Dr Lipstock gave excellent care after hours, and over the entire weekend, and called me with updates daily. I truly appreciated that level of communication.Witnessing the logical progression of steps the doctors here take in evaluating and treating symptoms is impressive and comforting, with a minimalistic but realistic approach, and always with an eye on the needs, comfort and speedy recovery of the injured and sick.Highly recommended! I have nothing but amazing things to say about this practice. We see Dr. Jones and she is by far the best vet I have ever been to. What makes her such an amazing vet....? She takes the time to listen to you and treat the entire family. She gets to know both the owners and the dog and give us her undivided attention. She entertains all of our questions and makes sure all questions have been answered. On top of that she uses a blended approach of traditional medicine and holistic. This is the same type of treatment I use for myself and it's the perfect blend of both styles.After finding Dr. Jones, I don't know how we could ever go anywhere else. Absolutely wonderful. My cats are super sensitive and took right to them. I was amazed. Cannot praise them enough for improving my kitties' quality of life. Even if you are worried they all have a just positive attitude. Excellent technique in calming old/scared pets ( and owners)- GREAT attitude. Kindness with real knowledge. I just drove over 2 hours to see Dr. Haney and it was well worth the drive. The front desk staff was extremely helpful. I needed to make a last minute appointment and they were able to see me the following day. Dr. Haney answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. We have several (9) pets that we had brought here for care since around 2012.  We really liked Dr. Lipstock. The techs were fine--no major complaints. Most of the receptionists have been very friendly but some have not been as welcoming.  What lost my business was what happened today: our dog has an injury to her paw and needed to be seen today.  I called early but they were already booked.  They did offer to work her in---but for a "work in fee".  I've never been to any physician or vet that charges a fee to work someone in when they have no available appointments to offer.  We have given them a lot of business over the years, and it just really rubbed me the wrong way that they wanted to charge an extra fee to work in an injured animal. So I will be transferring care to all 9 of my pets elsewhere. Their greed cost them a lot of future business. Read Less

We have been taking our pets here since 2002 and they are simply amazing! I would have given a 5 star review a long time ago, but what made me finally do it was our recent visit. I had a 16 year old cat that we had to have euthanized. He was severely dehydrated and unable to eat, drink or walk. My son and I took him in and we had no clue what to expect as this was our first time having to say goodbye to a pet. The kindness and compassion from everyone from the time I called to the time we left was amazing. They got us in a room immediately, took our payment in the room so we didn't have to stop at the desk on the way out while we were grieving, gave us plenty of time to say good bye, assured us we were doing the right thing, the list goes on....Dr. Haney even took a few minutes to make sure that my 9 year old son who wanted to go with me had any and all questions that he had answered. He addressed each question with an answer that my son could understand and with so much compassion. We have dogs and cats and have never had a bad experience at this office. I was visiting town when one of my dogs got a severe eye infection. They were able to get me in to see a vet same day despite a full schedule, and quickly diagnosed what was wrong. They made me feel very comfortable, clearly explained each test or procedure, and discussed the process they went through diagnosing my dog. Great service and nice people! Read Less

My family has been using this veterinary office for over ten years. For 5 animals, ranging from a kitten to a 20 year old cat and a puppy to a 15 year old dog, they always have the proper care and support for our animals. All of the vets at Bon Air Animal Hospital (Drs. Cline, Haney, and Lipstock) are excellent, and I recommend all of them. They employ a team approach to patient care, and because of that, I've always been able to see one of the vets very soon after calling for an appointment--and it is always at an appointment time that's convenient for me. With that said, I have had difficult times when I relied on one vet at Bon Air in particular for help with my very ill dog. That vet was always always there for me, no matter what. So, Bon Air offers a team approach with individual attention. It doesn't get any better than that! Read Less

Convenient location and friendly staff who treats you and your pet like a life long friend. First impression couldn't have been better: our cat was having her kittens and despite the fact that we had never been there before they recognized the emergency at hand and were at the door waiting for us less than 5 minutes after I called to tell them the situation. They seem to stay very busy and the only complaint I've heard some people say is it's expensive. I work at an animal hospital down in Roanoke, and am in town for the weekend for my sisters baby shower. They worked me in on a Saturday morning, which I know is a busy day, and the visit was quick and easy. Dr. Haney was very kind, and gentle with pepper and got blood results in a quick manor. The front desk staff was kind, the tech was kind, the assistants were all kind, overall I had an awesome visit, being on the other side of the spectrum. We have been using Dr. Haney as our vet since we moved to Richmond over 11 years ago. Initially we began seeing him with our 2 middle aged labs and he was always patient at that crazy double check up appointment. Where this practice really shined was when they began to get older and we started running into the "big" issues like tumors and liver disease. Dr. Haney was always patient and made sure we understood all of our options with out pressuring us to go to extreme measuresWe are back now with a 3 year old lab and the practice has been just a good, if not better. The new facility is great and they now have the ability to do boarding. Which was great when we went on vacation last year and our dog had stitches in his foot and could not be trusted at the regular kennel.Staff is always great, they are always able to work us in at the last minute and really love animals! We recently adopted a rescue dog who is a little quirky. Actually he's a ridiculous, anxious mess but I'm biased already.  The trainer at the rescue organization recommended Bon Air Animal Hospital as a vet she has had good experiences with in our area. So we scheduled an initial check up.Puppy puked on the way to the vet.  One of the technicians saw our car arrive with puppy puke and, even though she had not even started her shift, she came right over to offer to help us. She offered cleaning supplies and, seeing the we had our hands full of anxious puppy, offered to go out to our car and clean it up while we were at the appointment.  We didn't take her up on it but that is totally above and beyondThe front desk staff was very helpful and friendly when we were filling out paperwork. Dr. Haney was very patient with our fearful pup and patient with me the overly curious owner with a million questions.  He even took my question about grain free organic dog food seriously -- yeah, I'm that kind of dog owner.It turns out that our rescue pup needed his ears cleaned and treated for bilateral infection, two vaccinations, and the dreaded anal glands examined. This is for a puppy who is literally scared of things like garbage bags, tile floor, and his own reflection. The two female technicians who worked with us were wonderful.  All of this took forever, crouched on the floor with the four of us (three people, one puppy) all wrapped around him like a pretzel.  They were so patient with him, never rushed and went out of their way to help puppy feel safe.We were very impressed with all aspects of the care here.
