Pocoshock Animal Hospital (PAH) is proud to be an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) member. PAH has been serving the pets and residents of Chesterfield County since 1977. Dr. Charles W. Hickey, Jr. founded and opened Pocoshock Animal Hospital in 1977, and developed it into an Accredited AAHA facility. In 2009, the hospital was sold to Gayle Calhoun and Aubrey O. Friedhoff, III, who continue the Accreditation as an AAHA facility. We are committed to excellence in companion animal care. We will work with you in providing the very best that veterinary care can offer you and your pet. We look forward to serving the community and the residents of this area for many years to come.

I've been going her for over 10yrs & Pocoshock Animal Hospital is the best. From the staff to the head vet, the make my dogs & I feel like family. Dr Larsen is such a loving person. She has always taken the time to understandy pet to provide the best care. Standard check-ups to emergencies, Pocoshock gets us in so we are seen.
I may have to drive 30mins to see them but I'll so it every time.

I saw Dr. Larson so that my cat Blue could get declawed. Dr. Larson checked her heart and for the first time in her life, Dr. Larson identified a heart murmur. Dr. Larson recommended I see a cardiologist to check on her heart murmur to make sure she would be safe for sedation. I was fearful for the cost and but Dr. Larson took care of everything. Dr. Larson is ethical, and follows her heart when it comes to making decisions about animals she's treating. She gives me recommendations for her diet, and her care. I had a great experience here.

I will never return to this animal hospital! If a dog is sick, precautions should be put in place to prevent the dog from biting for example a mussel. My dog has never bite anyone except the vet, someone who is suppose to be trained to work with sick animals. Maybe more training is required.

I would not recommend this animal hospital to anyone! The experience I had last week was traumatizing for my daughter and my dog. My dog had never bite anyone until last week. The veterinarian did not take proper precautions while dealing with a sick dog (when we went to another vet, the first thing they did was put a mussel on him).

I have gone to Pocoshock Animal Hospital for many years, and what keeps me going there is the feeling I have regarding the staff. I feel they love my dog, which is very important. From the time I walk in, the receptionist is friendly and kind. When we go back to the exam room, the tech is always friendly and treats me and my dog with kindness and respect. The Vet I see, Dr. Larsen, is a kind, skilled Veterinarian, and I feel comfortable taking my pets to her. I feel we are going to the right place for routine, as well as non-routine vet visits.

Dr. Larsen is fantastic. I started taking my cats here about 25 years ago. Dr. Larsen is patient and kind to my cats. The staff is helpful. Dr.Larsen does a thorough exam and gives practical advice that is useful and helpful. She is one of the few veterinarians that even my most timid fur baby likes. I can't say enough good things about her, she is wonderful with animals!

I love the vets and staff at Pocoshock. They have been my vet for many, many years. When we had to put our old suffering schnauzer to sleep around 7 years ago, Dr. Larsen was so kind and helped us through this tough time. They have been there for anything we needed health-wise for our fuzzy babies (cats and dogs).

I was referred to Pocoshock when my dog was deathly ill. Not happy with the care she was receiving at her vet, we made the move to Pocoshock and have never regretted it. Missy is alive and well because of the care that Pocoshock has given her and the immediate referral to VEC. I highly recommend Pocoshock to every pet owner in the area!
