Paws And Claws Veterinary Clinic

Petersburg, Virginia
General Info
Paws and Claws Veterinary Clinic in Petersburg empowers pet owners throughout Virginia by making veterinary care educational, collaborative, and highly responsive to subtle health cues. The first phase of visits involves environmental adjustment where pets become accustomed to auditory stimuli, lighting conditions, and spatial arrangements. Veterinarians start behavior observation as soon as entry occurs by monitoring gait patterns and social responses while noting hesitation zones along with breath rhythms and tactile reactivity. Physical assessments examine coat health hydration level gum color limb use joint sensitivity abdominal tone and muscle stability. The intake picture becomes complete through owner feedback which documents recent appetite changes along with grooming routines and interaction shifts while vocalization patterns also help guide subsequent steps. Paws and Claws Veterinary Clinic delivers an array of structured services that encompass lab panels, dental procedures, surgical prep and recovery, age-adjusted diagnostics, and preventative wellness mapping. Each service milestone receives thorough explanation while visual progress tools remain accessible for multi-visit plans. The team assists pet owners in deciphering body language throughout recovery phases to identify behaviors indicating readiness or resistance so that home care becomes more intuitive. Behavioral benchmarks instead of calendar dates determine the mapping of follow-up visits. Owners should monitor observable changes such as sleep cycles, eye contact duration, surface preferences, and mobility gradients to contextualize each return check-in. This guarantees decision-making processes occur with assuredness and perpetual flow. Paws and Claws Veterinary Clinic establishes a clinical alliance with Petersburg pet families and those throughout Virginia that focuses on knowledge patience and transparency to ensure active collaborative care from the first day.

Completely unproffessional. After helping a friend pay their rent my husband and I were very short on cash and could not afford to pay the vet. This office does not see your animal unless you pay the day your animal is seen. So we called the aspca for help. They gave us a voucher for a free medical exam. While I was on the phone with whoever answered the phone I told her that the last time we were there the bill hit us kind of hard. She cut me off asked my last name and put the phone down. She proceeded to talk about me as if I was complaining and trying not to pay for anything, like I was a cheapskate who didn't care for her pet. She then hung up the phone. When I called back and confronted her she continued to explain that when people come in with aspca vouchers they take a monetary hit so it is frustrating for them thus justifying why she spoke badly of me. My advice to anyone using a voucher or hard up on cash don't go to this vet. They only want your money. Read Less

I was recently recommended this vet by a friend of mine. I was greeted by the reception and the owner when I walked in the office. The receptionist couldn't have been nicer. The vet that seen my dog is amazing she answered all my questions. But I have to tell you as impressed as I was I blow away today. I recv a phone call from the vet her self checking in my baby. I have seen a lot of vets and spend a lot of money on my dogs but I have never had a vet follow up with me personally with a phone call. Usually you get a phone call from the receptionist checking on your animal but again I have to say having the vet call me personally just made me know that I am with the right veterinarians office now. Thank you so much for the kind service I recv and can't wait for the follow up visit to check on the progress of my baby. Read Less

HORRIBLE! If you plain on taking your animals here please DON'T! I had my dog spayed there. They original Quote was $130, when i went to pick my dog up, my bill was $208. I handed her a $75 off certificate from the SPCA. They brought my dog out to me and I was shocked on how my dog was acting, Trembling, Crying and didn't want nothing to do with anyone. The lady behind the counter said that it was $173 so i handed her my card and paid it. When I left is when i realized the math didn't add up. So I called and asked if they could explain the bill. I asked ?'s and couldn't get a straight answer. So i told her to have a great day. I had my aunt call and get a quote $162.00 without the certificate and $97 with. Me being concerned that i got over charged, I called back. The owner got on the phone and when I told her I had my aunt call she started screaming, yelling at me and would not let me talk. She tried to tell me that it was not a $75 off coupon.(which i have a copy of). She told me that i only got a percentage off not the full amount bc it comes out of their pocket and they only receive $10 from the SPCA.(which is not the truth). I asked what the percentage was and she wouldn't give me an answer. She proceeded to yell and scream at me with a few cuss words in it. Told me she doesn't know why i am worried about it that my dog had excellent care, and to get over it. At the end of the conversation she told me to never call back up there. Which is messed up considering you just did surgery on my dog. If the paying customer was treated like that, i can't imagine how they did treat my animal. Please Re advise going there!! Read Less
