I have been going to Churchland Animal clinic for a little over a year now since I moved to Portsmouth. Before I even brought an animal in, I went in to check out the facility and ask questions, and I was impressed, as I am not a normal pet owner. I have been working professionally with animals for over 15 years now and I started out in a vet hospital as an intern. I am now a private dog trainer, my dog and I travel the country competing and working with well known trainers, needless to say my dogs health is my top priority. I've put my literal blood, sweat, and tears(not to mention thousands $$) into her. No decision on my dogs health is taken lightly, from nutrition, to conditioning, to how I trim her nails. I was considering changing vets for being constantly hounded on my holistic approach to parasite prevention, to the diet I feed (without the vet even taking a second to step back and look to see that my dog is a perfect healthy example of her working breed, and she has ribbons to show for it), from vet techs with extremely rude comments, and loud mouth counter staff, but today was today was the last straw. I called at 2pm and asked if I could bring my dog in, she had gotten in a fight and needed sutures. They told me to bring her in to see if they could take her. There was no appointments, there was no one in the waiting room or any of the exam rooms. I carried my dog in and we got her on the table. They said the doctor would be right in... 40 minutes later, and I could hear one of the doctors making his calls in the back, my dog is bleeding on the table and unknown to me, suffering from a very painful dislocated elbow. I picked her up and walked out and went to another vet. Never have I ever seen any vet hospital treat an emergency situation like that. When a dog came in bleeding, crying, and needing to be carried to an exam, the doctor who taught me everything would have dropped what he was doing, and gotten in the room to help that hurt animal. After 3 hours of surgery at the other vet, my dog is stable- doesn't seem like something to ignore to make phone calls. I will never be going back there, and I will find a doctor who not only cares, but appreciates an educated dog owner. Read Less
