Very friendly staff and overall great service. But most importantly Dr. Cabrera was amazing, very caring, kind and professional. They took great care of my little cute dog. Staff called back the next day after our visit to check on my puppy and Dr. Cabrera personally called a week later to check again to see how my dog is doing and asked if I had any other questions or concerns, which was very kind of her to take the time out of her busy day to check up on us. I truly appreciate all their effort to make my puppy feel better, happy and hyper again. Read Less

The worst. I believe the vets are qualified.  But the entire structure of this corporate entity is setup not to take care of your pet, but to fleece you, and up-sell you every time you walk in there. Even when you're not there and have switched to a new (better) vet for MONTHS, this corporate leech continues to suck funds from your account. Their sole purpose is to get caring pet owners into their facility, locked into one of their asinine healthcare plans, and up-sell you on every extra service that isn't provided in the plan at ridiculous prices. (Most of which are free at other vet clinics)- Your dog needs his nails clipped, that'll be an extra $$$ not covered by the plan- Needed to get someone to "handle your dog" that'll be an extra $$ in the plan- Your dog has bad breath, you need to come in for a $300+ cleaning not in the plan- The AVMA doesn't recommend vaccines for lyme in dogs... but we're going to recommend you get it $$$... and shocker it's not covered in the planAnd then, when you're dissatisfied with being fleeced each and every time you go, and you attempt to leave - they have you locked in for a year - you cannot leave early without paying for the entire year. And if you call to cancel, they still try to up-sell you - it's corporate greed and insanity at its worse... preying upon pet owners who love their animals. I genuinely don't think they care about the animals. I feel there must be some type of horrid incentive program tied to the up-sell. If you genuinely love your pet, and want a veterinarian who has your and your pets best interest at heart - you will RUN to another vet. Read Less

I absolutely love this Banfield! The people are friendly and the customer service is awesome. We especially love Dr. Frake!! She seems to really care about the animals and always seems extra excited about our dog. I usually drop the dog off and pick him up after work and am very comfortable doing so. I live right across the street from this vet, and I am a hard ass when it comes to our Bailey. This place is top notch, and that pertains to all doctors and staff. Providing a level of comfort is not easy, this place does just that. When the doc called me today to ask how Bailey was doing after her visit yesterday, I melted. This is usually the Banfield the my dog usually goes to, however in an emergency case I took my dog to Falls church and had a terrible experience there and now all of a sudden Reston wants to back up Falls church, so I'll be leaving the exact same review. My dog, has been a Banfield patient on the Care Plan since I got her 6 years ago. I used to work for Banfield and I know the great benefits the plan offers for animals and their owners. My dog has received excellent care at other Banfield's, the vets know her and love her. However, the experience I had in September was so bad that I am took her off the plan and transferred to a local vet.I brought my dog in as she started not wanting to eat and was defecating liquids and blood. They recommended and I approved a fecal test, I also told them 8 days previously she had got into some trash but seemed fine until that (it was 8 days previously so I didn't think it was the problem, just wanted them to have all the information). They asked me to leave her there & that it would be no more than two hours, so I did and stayed close by.The doctor called  me 2.5 hours later. She said they did not have the fecal test back but she "highly recommended" running blood work and an X-ray. The Dr seemed very interested in having me upgrade to a more expensive plan. She was quite insistent that she needed these tests, I was emotional and concerned at this point and said fine. It turned out had a bad bacterial infection, which was revealed through the fecal test I authorized. My bill started at $270 & then jumped to $1200, I naturally became upset with the additional unnecessary and expensive tests and asked to speak to the Manager. After waiting 20 minutes with no one showing up, I informed the desk I would contact the Manager the next day and left (it was late). Was literally at the hospital for 7.5 hours...It certainly seems that this Banfield only cares about how much money they can get from the pets owners when they are in crisis mode. When I worked at Banfield we had the results of fecal tests in 1-2 hours (I didn't have my prior Banfield hat on when talking to the Dr, I had my worried pet owner hat on, otherwise I would certainly have said let's see the results of the first test before ordering additional and costly ones). It seems the Dr jumped the gun in her "high" recommendations for these other tests and pushed me for them when she didn't have the results of the fecal test, thereby causing me  to make an uninformed decision (case in point, earlier this year my dog ate something and we brought her to the Reston Banfield, diagnosis made, Dr did not feel anything and said we "could" run an X-ray to be safe or see if she passes anything on this prescription dog food, we did not get the X-ray and she was fine).I reached out twice to customer service to explain my concerns regarding the unnecessary and expensive diagnostics and I have yet to receive a call back. I called on September 10th and September 14th no response from the Manager. This lack of response is not only disappointing but certainly implies that this Banfield has no concern for its customers or of the actual pet. I certainly wish I had taken more care in the selection of Banfield, which no wonder this location has only a two star rating, but at the time I was concerned about my dog and went to the nearest Banfield. Bad customer service. Always staff around, but no one knows what they're doing. Waited around for 20 mins for someone to figure out how to refund me for the extra e collar they charged me for and didn't give. Brought my kittens in for a physical with the wellness plan. The vet barely looked at my kittens. Looked in 1 of their ears and checked stomach for the other. Reston location is right around the corner from my house but I now drive to the Herndon location. Their so much more friendly knowledgeable and took their time with exams diagnosing my cats eye problem. Will never go to Reston again. Read Less

We recently got a new addition to the family; a Chocolate Lab named Kai. Our time at Reston Banfield starts as soon as we enter the clinic and see the familiar faces we know upfront at the front desk. The staff rolls out the red carpet for Kai each and every time he comes to Reston Banfield. We know the front desk and techs by first name basis. Most importantly, our vet, Dr. Frake, is the reason we come to Reston Banfield. It's been almost 4 years since we've been seeing her with our other dog. Every time she sees us and Kai, she gets on the floor to greet and play with him. She treats our pets as her own and that's what we love most about her. She is always cautious about the money we spend on our pets and go above and beyond to make sure we only pay for what we really need. She's compassionate and loving towards us and our pets. Kai gets super excited when he knows he will be going to the vet to see Dr. Frake and team and we get excited because we know he will be getting the best care in the area! Read Less

I have been a client of Banfield Reston for 3.5 years. I first had the privilege of meeting Dr. Frake when my Goldie had a UTI. Dr. Frake was/ always is professional,  knowledgeable, compassionate and respectful of me and my fur child. Her priority is Sofia's health and well being and being conservative on my wallet. The list of medical concerns and attention Sofia requires is daunting at best. In the past, Sofia had seen multiple vets at the Leesburg and Sterling Banfield locations. However, after receiving the highest quality of care, detailed assessment and love during our first visit Dr. Frake is the only vet I trust to care for Sofia now or in the future. Read Less

The wellness care plan recommended by Benfield is one-size-fits-all, instead of individual dog needs, plus additional treatments/supplements recommended each time when we go in for a routine visit, it sounds funny but I feel as my dog is over-vaccinated, over-treated, and over-cared. More money spent but actually not getting the best care, I couldn’t help but wonder which is the priority, revenue generation or care of my beloved four-leg friend? Unfortunately, this must be a very successful business model, that most national brand pet care companies does it no matter where you go, where is the old fashioned family doctor that one can trust for a dog’s lifetime anymore? Very poor customer service. We took our pet in to get their nails done and, on 2 separate occasions, we were stuck waiting for a LONG time. The most recent experience we went in and were told it would be just a few minutes. After a half hour we asked again and were told again just a few minutes. We sat there with our very excited pet for a while longer. An hour after after getting there we asked a last time how much longer and they said it might be awhile. After we explained it had been an hour and we wished to have known how long it would have been earlier they were horribly rude. Will NOT be going back. Read Less

I don't know why I pay $30 a month for a wellness plan to a company that pisses me off every time I go in.Whether they are selling me "tasty" supplements that my dog won't eat or always trying to upsell me on more services, Banfield has always made me feel like the wellness plan is a well-designed veterinary scam.Today, I went in for a 10am appointment I made online three days ago.  I got an e-mail telling me they would call to confirm, but they never did.  So, already dreading the visit (as was my dog), I wasn't at all surprised when they couldn't find my appointment.Hey Banfield! Why have an online appointment system if all it does is "request a phone call"?The idea of a wellness plan for our dog seemed like a good idea when Banfield introduced it, but as I cancel it today it is because we have come to realize it isn't really worth the money and certainly not worth the frustration of the service.  The actual veterinarians at Banfield are fine... but getting to them is just too hard and seeing them two times a year to get the "value" out of the plan seems like a giant waste of money, time and frustration in retrospect.  Banfield also suffers from being co-located in a PetSmart.  My appointment today was just to get a rabies vaccine because the PetSmart Grooming wouldn't make an appointment for my dog because his vaccine expired before the appointment.  Banfield informed me the vaccine didn't expire until May 31 (not May 1).I took the print out back to the groomer to get an appointment and with 5 people standing around doing nothing (no dogs on any tables) the young lady then proceeded to tell me they were all booked up today as she tried to use system to find me a future appointment.Banfield and PetSmart are perfect companions for each other.  They both do a great job at serving pets and pissing off the humans that pay them.Good-bye Banfield!  Good-bye PetSmart! Dr Cabrera is awesome. I brought in my cat for comprehensive exam. She pointed out the concerns about my cat's physical health. It appears that she has performed a thorough exam. She also provided recommendation on the preventive action I should take. I appreciate her service very much. Highly recommended! On the other hand, I have been calling Benfield multiple times for millions of questions about the tests and exams for my cats. Sarah has been patiently answering each of my questions. Very helpful! I have been taking my dog to the sterling location, and only made the change to Reston to accommodate work which was in the same town center. I've had a few bad experiences now with them, so time to let everyone know.Our dog had to be tested for Cushings disease. Banfield did their tests...great I should hear back in a few days right? over 10 days go by, and no call. I placed a follow up call just to find out a status. ok tests are positive...now what.Shes been on medications and they asked us to come back in 2 weeks to do more testing, they would call back to schedule.  Its now been over 3 weeks and honestly I forgot to call, but so did they.  the other day our dog had some issues where her energy level has gone down, and she is not eating.  Called Banfield for advise...their response is, well you need to bring her in for a check up like we told you do, but you should take your dog to an ER now, or ANOTHER Banfield.  ((yes they told me to take my dog to another Banfield))  no reasoning or explanation given.Currently my dog is at another Banfield location... I'm pretty much convinced this is why google reviews gives this location a 2.7 rating... Read Less

If I give negative stars I would. This was the worst experience of my life. My puppy had ringworm. Not only did they give the wrong medication for treatment they mussclassified the parasite. As a result we had to suffer for two weeks with ringworm before going to another Vet. Be careful with where you take your pets when medical services are needed. Read Less

Echo the previous reviewer...they are the worst. Don't know how anyone would know enough to give a positive review because you aren't allowed to be with your pet during the visit. We went there for an emergency visit, our dog ate something it shouldn't have, and the front desk gave us the number to poison control and told us to call it to figure out what to do. Isn't that what I'm paying you for! We even have one of the pet medical plans. The vet eventually tried to make our dog throw up but failed and referred us to another vet. That vet figured out in minutes that what our dog ate was not enough to be toxic. Banfield then had the gall to bill us. For what, we asked? What about that medical plan, and you didn't help in any way? Well turns out that plan doesn't really cover anything. Totally incompetent. STAY AWAY! Read Less

I accidentally left a review here a few months ago when I meant to leave it for the Herndon location. But I did come to this location this past weekend, so new/actually applicable review is as follows: I brought my adult cat and new kitten here on Saturday because they'd both been sneezing. This location is in a PetSmart, which I didn't love... having a vet in a pet store seems kind of half-assed and germy, almost like putting a doctor's office in a mall? But my experience was fine; the adult cat was given medication since he has a history of upper respiratory infections. The kitten wasn't given anything, I guess because he's so little that they wanted to be cautious about giving him antibiotics. They said to call back if the kitten still seems sick, and they left me a voicemail yesterday to check in on them both.They were a bit more sales-y at this location with trying to push their insurance plans. I didn't particularly mind; I get that it's a business, and they've probably got quotas to meet. As long as their primary concern is the health of my pets, which it seemed to be, I don't hold it against them. It might annoy some people, though.I will most likely take my cats back to the Herndon location next time, just because I don't love the idea of bringing my already-sick cats to a store that hundreds of other pets frolic around in all day. A typical contained vet's office like the one in Herndon just seems safer & more sanitary. Read Less

The very WORST place to take your dog for vet services and boarding! Took my baby in for a dental, ear cleaning, nails clipped. he came home sickly, then diarrhea for 3 days! Don't know what the hell they did to his ears as they are filthy and infected and very painful if I touch them. Taking him to another vet now and going forward none of my animals will go near these place. Banfield pet insurance is nothing more than a scam as they keep adding in unnecessary crap. And don't get me started on how they lie to you about how well cared for they are in boarding. BULL! They are kenneled all but a few minutes a couple of times a day. Read Less

LOVE LOVE LOVE Banfield! We were given an unhealthy 3 mo old kitten a few months ago and because of all of his health problems we brought him here so he could get the best care at a reasonable cost. Dr Christi and the staff are very knowledgeable and wonderful to the animals. They helped us nurse our kitten back to health and after him having multiple surgeries, the stitching is nice and clean and its obvious Dr Christi and her staff knew what they were doing. Now our little guy is at home resting and recovering well. Thank you! Read Less

(Most of which are free at other vet clinics)- Your dog needs his nails clipped, that'll be an extra $$$ not covered by the plan- Needed to get someone to "handle your dog" that'll be an extra $$ in the plan- Your dog has bad breath, you need to come in for a $300+ cleaning not in the plan- The AVMA doesn't recommend vaccines for lyme in dogs... but we're going to recommend you get it $$$... and shocker it's not covered in the planAnd then, when you're dissatisfied with being fleeced each and every time you go, and you attempt to leave - they have you locked in for a year - you cannot leave early without paying for the entire year. And if you call to cancel, they still try to up-sell you - it's corporate greed and insanity at its worse... preying upon pet owners who love their animals. I genuinely don't think they care about the animals. I feel there must be some type of horrid incentive program tied to the up-sell. If you genuinely love your pet, and want a veterinarian who has your and your pets best interest at heart - you will RUN to another vet. Read Less

This is usually the Banfield the my dog usually goes to, however in an emergency case I took my dog to Falls church and had a terrible experience there and now all of a sudden Reston wants to back up Falls church, so I'll be leaving the exact same review. My dog, has been a Banfield patient on the Care Plan since I got her 6 years ago. I used to work for Banfield and I know the great benefits the plan offers for animals and their owners. My dog has received excellent care at other Banfield's, the vets know her and love her. However, the experience I had in September was so bad that I am took her off the plan and transferred to a local vet.I brought my dog in as she started not wanting to eat and was defecating liquids and blood. They recommended and I approved a fecal test, I also told them 8 days previously she had got into some trash but seemed fine until that (it was 8 days previously so I didn't think it was the problem, just wanted them to have all the information). They asked me to leave her there & that it would be no more than two hours, so I did and stayed close by.The doctor called  me 2.5 hours later. She said they did not have the fecal test back but she "highly recommended" running blood work and an X-ray. The Dr seemed very interested in having me upgrade to a more expensive plan. She was quite insistent that she needed these tests, I was emotional and concerned at this point and said fine. It turned out had a bad bacterial infection, which was revealed through the fecal test I authorized. My bill started at $270 & then jumped to $1200, I naturally became upset with the additional unnecessary and expensive tests and asked to speak to the Manager. After waiting 20 minutes with no one showing up, I informed the desk I would contact the Manager the next day and left (it was late). Was literally at the hospital for 7.5 hours...It certainly seems that this Banfield only cares about how much money they can get from the pets owners when they are in crisis mode. When I worked at Banfield we had the results of fecal tests in 1-2 hours (I didn't have my prior Banfield hat on when talking to the Dr, I had my worried pet owner hat on, otherwise I would certainly have said let's see the results of the first test before ordering additional and costly ones). It seems the Dr jumped the gun in her "high" recommendations for these other tests and pushed me for them when she didn't have the results of the fecal test, thereby causing me  to make an uninformed decision (case in point, earlier this year my dog ate something and we brought her to the Reston Banfield, diagnosis made, Dr did not feel anything and said we "could" run an X-ray to be safe or see if she passes anything on this prescription dog food, we did not get the X-ray and she was fine).I reached out twice to customer service to explain my concerns regarding the unnecessary and expensive diagnostics and I have yet to receive a call back. I called on September 10th and September 14th no response from the Manager. This lack of response is not only disappointing but certainly implies that this Banfield has no concern for its customers or of the actual pet. I certainly wish I had taken more care in the selection of Banfield, which no wonder this location has only a two star rating, but at the time I was concerned about my dog and went to the nearest Banfield. The vet barely looked at my kittens. Looked in 1 of their ears and checked stomach for the other. Reston location is right around the corner from my house but I now drive to the Herndon location. Their so much more friendly knowledgeable and took their time with exams diagnosing my cats eye problem. Will never go to Reston again. Read Less

We recently got a new addition to the family; a Chocolate Lab named Kai. Our time at Reston Banfield starts as soon as we enter the clinic and see the familiar faces we know upfront at the front desk. The staff rolls out the red carpet for Kai each and every time he comes to Reston Banfield. We know the front desk and techs by first name basis. Most importantly, our vet, Dr. Frake, is the reason we come to Reston Banfield. It's been almost 4 years since we've been seeing her with our other dog. Every time she sees us and Kai, she gets on the floor to greet and play with him. She treats our pets as her own and that's what we love most about her. She is always cautious about the money we spend on our pets and go above and beyond to make sure we only pay for what we really need. She's compassionate and loving towards us and our pets. Kai gets super excited when he knows he will be going to the vet to see Dr. Frake and team and we get excited because we know he will be getting the best care in the area! Read Less

Dr. Frake was/ always is professional,  knowledgeable, compassionate and respectful of me and my fur child. Her priority is Sofia's health and well being and being conservative on my wallet. The list of medical concerns and attention Sofia requires is daunting at best. In the past, Sofia had seen multiple vets at the Leesburg and Sterling Banfield locations. However, after receiving the highest quality of care, detailed assessment and love during our first visit Dr. Frake is the only vet I trust to care for Sofia now or in the future. Read Less

More money spent but actually not getting the best care, I couldn’t help but wonder which is the priority, revenue generation or care of my beloved four-leg friend? Very poor customer service. We took our pet in to get their nails done and, on 2 separate occasions, we were stuck waiting for a LONG time. The most recent experience we went in and were told it would be just a few minutes. After a half hour we asked again and were told again just a few minutes. We sat there with our very excited pet for a while longer. An hour after after getting there we asked a last time how much longer and they said it might be awhile. I don't know why I pay $30 a month for a wellness plan to a company that pisses me off every time I go in.Whether they are selling me "tasty" supplements that my dog won't eat or always trying to upsell me on more services, Banfield has always made me feel like the wellness plan is a well-designed veterinary scam.Today, I went in for a 10am appointment I made online three days ago.  I got an e-mail telling me they would call to confirm, but they never did.  So, already dreading the visit (as was my dog), I wasn't at all surprised when they couldn't find my appointment.Hey Banfield! Why have an online appointment system if all it does is "request a phone call"?The idea of a wellness plan for our dog seemed like a good idea when Banfield introduced it, but as I cancel it today it is because we have come to realize it isn't really worth the money and certainly not worth the frustration of the service.  The actual veterinarians at Banfield are fine... but getting to them is just too hard and seeing them two times a year to get the "value" out of the plan seems like a giant waste of money, time and frustration in retrospect.  Banfield also suffers from being co-located in a PetSmart.  My appointment today was just to get a rabies vaccine because the PetSmart Grooming wouldn't make an appointment for my dog because his vaccine expired before the appointment.  Banfield informed me the vaccine didn't expire until May 31 (not May 1).I took the print out back to the groomer to get an appointment and with 5 people standing around doing nothing (no dogs on any tables) the young lady then proceeded to tell me they were all booked up today as she tried to use system to find me a future appointment.Banfield and PetSmart are perfect companions for each other.  They both do a great job at serving pets and pissing off the humans that pay them.Good-bye Banfield!  Good-bye PetSmart! I have been taking my dog to the sterling location, and only made the change to Reston to accommodate work which was in the same town center. I've had a few bad experiences now with them, so time to let everyone know.Our dog had to be tested for Cushings disease. Banfield did their tests...great I should hear back in a few days right? over 10 days go by, and no call. I placed a follow up call just to find out a status. ok tests are positive...now what.Shes been on medications and they asked us to come back in 2 weeks to do more testing, they would call back to schedule.  Its now been over 3 weeks and honestly I forgot to call, but so did they.  the other day our dog had some issues where her energy level has gone down, and she is not eating.  Called Banfield for advise...their response is, well you need to bring her in for a check up like we told you do, but you should take your dog to an ER now, or ANOTHER Banfield.  ((yes they told me to take my dog to another Banfield))  no reasoning or explanation given.Currently my dog is at another Banfield location... I'm pretty much convinced this is why google reviews gives this location a 2.7 rating... Read Less

If I give negative stars I would. This was the worst experience of my life. My puppy had ringworm. Not only did they give the wrong medication for treatment they mussclassified the parasite. As a result we had to suffer for two weeks with ringworm before going to another Vet. Be careful with where you take your pets when medical services are needed. Read Less

We went there for an emergency visit, our dog ate something it shouldn't have, and the front desk gave us the number to poison control and told us to call it to figure out what to do. Isn't that what I'm paying you for! We even have one of the pet medical plans. The vet eventually tried to make our dog throw up but failed and referred us to another vet. That vet figured out in minutes that what our dog ate was not enough to be toxic. Banfield then had the gall to bill us. For what, we asked? What about that medical plan, and you didn't help in any way? Well turns out that plan doesn't really cover anything. Totally incompetent. STAY AWAY! Read Less

I accidentally left a review here a few months ago when I meant to leave it for the Herndon location. But I did come to this location this past weekend, so new/actually applicable review is as follows: I brought my adult cat and new kitten here on Saturday because they'd both been sneezing. This location is in a PetSmart, which I didn't love... having a vet in a pet store seems kind of half-assed and germy, almost like putting a doctor's office in a mall? But my experience was fine; the adult cat was given medication since he has a history of upper respiratory infections. The kitten wasn't given anything, I guess because he's so little that they wanted to be cautious about giving him antibiotics. They said to call back if the kitten still seems sick, and they left me a voicemail yesterday to check in on them both.They were a bit more sales-y at this location with trying to push their insurance plans. I didn't particularly mind; I get that it's a business, and they've probably got quotas to meet. As long as their primary concern is the health of my pets, which it seemed to be, I don't hold it against them. It might annoy some people, though.I will most likely take my cats back to the Herndon location next time, just because I don't love the idea of bringing my already-sick cats to a store that hundreds of other pets frolic around in all day. A typical contained vet's office like the one in Herndon just seems safer & more sanitary. Read Less

Don't know what the hell they did to his ears as they are filthy and infected and very painful if I touch them. Taking him to another vet now and going forward none of my animals will go near these place. Banfield pet insurance is nothing more than a scam as they keep adding in unnecessary crap. And don't get me started on how they lie to you about how well cared for they are in boarding. BULL! They are kenneled all but a few minutes a couple of times a day. Read Less

LOVE LOVE LOVE Banfield! We were given an unhealthy 3 mo old kitten a few months ago and because of all of his health problems we brought him here so he could get the best care at a reasonable cost. Dr Christi and the staff are very knowledgeable and wonderful to the animals. They helped us nurse our kitten back to health and after him having multiple surgeries, the stitching is nice and clean and its obvious Dr Christi and her staff knew what they were doing. Now our little guy is at home resting and recovering well. Thank you! Read Less
