I arrived at Allied at 5:00pm on a Friday without an appointment and they said they would see my elderly Yorkie They were busy with several pet owners in the waiting room with others coming & going.  Missy had an  abscessed mammary gland nipple and was in pain. The front desk and Vet's assistant were very friendly and caring. When I saw Dr Dufour I was extremely pleased with her concern and demeanor. I explained that the Vet in NC who cleaned her teeth and extracted 17 of them last year said to not put her under to remove her mammary glands due to her age. Dr Dufour said there were alternatives which would not require putting her under. I've only been Missy's mom for two years and know nothing of her past except that two vets have said they think she was a dog used by a puppy mill for breeding. She is my shadow and loves me dearly and being 77 yo I am limited with what I can afford and Dr Dufour understood this. She did testing before prescribing Tramadol and an antibiotic to make sure she was treating her with the right meds. My total bill was $126.00 and I was told by Dr Dufour I could decide on whether to return or not for a checkup. Since she had healed nicely I told Jennifer I would not bring her in. Jennifer contacted me several times checking on how Missy was doing. I've not had any other vet's office to have this kind of concern. Even my daughter's girlfriend who has been my vet for years for my other pets which were cats. I'm sorry for what transpired with others who left negative reviews but I can say that my visit and treatment of Missy were amazing. I found every one to be loving with all the pets that they came in contact with including Missy. I just had to leave this review (which I have never done before) since my visit and care of my pet were great.Sherlene F. Read Less

I've seen several veterinary doctors over twenty years for my cats and dogs. This animal hospital is the worst money pit I have ever encountered. My first experience was with my cat who had stomatitis and after pouring hundreds and hundreds of dollars into their tests and questions, he ended up going to Pouncey Tract to have his teeth removed (who BTW is phenomenal). Allied once tried to tell me my cat had a urinary tract infection and wanted to test him for it because I said he's got psychological issues and pees on bathroom towels when I leave them on the floor. They took a pet parent joke and turned it into this very serious need for testing. It turned into an argument because I refused testing. I've had my cat 8 years, I KNOW his behavior and know he doesn't have a UTI. He's had to have had a UTI for 8 years standing because peeing on my used shower towels is his modus operandi, NOT a biological issue he is having. I refused the tests and they were not keen on me after that. The office and staff can become very passive aggressive if you disagree with their opinion or refuse their suggestions. I stopped seeing Allied and took my cats to Quioccasin where they respect the pet parent and their knowledge of their own pet. Months later, we needed to board our dog last minute so we took him to Allied. Boarding total was $150. Our final bill was over $450. This was because was asked for a bath and an exam. He had a weird thing with his claw and we asked for them to LOOK at it. As we were on vacation, they called to tell us that they treated him, put him on antibiotics AND pain meds without ever asking us to treat him. They didn't give us the opportunity to OK treating our dog, letting us know what would be done and how much it would cost. They just went ahead and treated and then gave us a final bill of over $450.I called and told them absolutely not! We were not given an option to get a second opinion. Our rights were completely violated when they opted to treat without consent. The women on the phone was SO rude and said "well he was licking his paw" when I questioned the pain meds. I said, "I do not care what we was licking, HE is not paying for the treatment!" You have to ask the pet owner to treat the pet before you just go ahead and do so. She said she would take off the charges and then hung up on me rudely. I would not recommend this place at all if you are looking for an honest veterinary office. OR treat your pet without asking you first or letting you know what their suggestions are before doing so. Read Less

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would! Do NOT take your animal here if you care about it’s life! We took our cat here in sept for excessive vomiting and vomiting blood. They gave us prednisone, and sold us a bunch of super expensive food stating it would help her. Took her back again in Jan for the same problem and they gave her a shot for vomiting. Deciding to get a second opinion after our cat continued to get worse we took her to Locke A Taylor, they did an X-ray, then an ultrasound and discover she had severe cancer in her liver and kidneys and has only weeks. A day goes by and it’s sat, the cat is throwing up every single bit of food after eating it. No one is open but Allied so I call them, explain the situation and ask if they can give her an anti vomiting shot to at least help us make her comfortable. They refuse!! Told me since we went and saw another vet, they won’t help us. They nickel and dimed us every visit and tried to sell every single extra product they get commission on, but when it came to showing compassion for our pet, they could care less. We spent $900 with them for 2 visits and another $300 on our second cat for a bite...they never once offered to X-ray or do any further diagnosis on our cat. If they done an X-ray in Sept, this cancer might have been treatable. They are a horrible vet that is just after selling you extras for their commission $$$$. Locke A Taylor charged us a grand total of $300 for everything including x-ray and ultrasound and didn’t try to sell a bunch of extras. They showed compassion and caring. They found out in 24 hours what was wrong....Allied will come across as nice, that’s what kept us going for our two cats, but the truth is all they want is $$$$! STAY AWAY FROM ALLIED ANIMAL HOSPITAL!! Read Less

I would not give them any stars if I could. Please don't waste your money here. My cat has been going here for a year, because of her stuffiness, sneezing, and breathing. I trusted them for so long to take care of my cat, but all they could do charge a ton of money for no progress. They said the most probable cause was a polyp. After I agreed to the surgery they recommended, my cat LOST HER EYESIGHT. The day she came back from the surgery, her eyes were dilated. They have been like that ever since. She started walking into the walls and looking confused. She was on human antibiotics that they prescribed, after her surgery. HER EYESIGHT WAS NEVER A PROBLEM, UNTIL AFTER THE SURGERY. Plus, they didn't find a polyp. So now my cat is still suffering from stuffiness, sneezing, breathing problems, ALONG WITH VISION LOSS. They did something to my cat during that surgery and they are to blame for her vision loss. Read Less

I wouldn't give them one star if I had the option. They don't care about the animals they only care about the money. I worked here for not even two months and I ended up quitting because they're extremely greedy and selfish in how the pets are treated. There were many times when employees would put dogs back in runs that were filthy with urine and stool. There were also cases of dogs getting out of the run and almost managing to flat out escape the hospital because of employee negligence. Don't give these people your money if you can avoided it. I have a golden doodle and being I do have a expensive breed of animal these people decided to quote prices at a rate that is absolutely crazy. They attempted to tell me that our dog was infested with flees and had a staph infection on his inner right back leg and wanted us to start a anti biotic regiment and also said that in order to give my dog a hair cut I needed to sedate him. They quoted me a price at almost $500.00 And I was completely in shock they did that. When I c...alled BS on the diagnosis and price the manager began to tell me that I should treat my dog as if they were humans and they should be treated as such. Animals are animals not humans was my response to her. She was visible shaken when my wife picked up our dog and we asked for his records which they gave us without any issues being we were going to file a complaint with BBB. WE got a second opinion through the SPCA here in Richmond Va and there diagnosis of our golden doodle was that he is a very healthy and well maintained dog with no infestation of flees and no staph infection. Professional services were below average and tried unsuccessful to get money out of us because of the breed of animal we have. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this vet or groomer. I highly suggest going to the SPCA as they are far more trust worthy and are not going to take advantage of you or your animal. PS. Dogs and Cats are Animals not humans and should be treated as such. My tiny dog is very picky about people. He knows good ones from bad ones. I visited their hospital after I got off from work. The facility was clean and there were people everywhere. These were pluses to me. I sent him to his first daycare and he did quite well. He was excited and full of energy for such a laid back, senior dog. I've had him treated, groomed, nails clipped, etc. I chose this place because he has special medical needs. While he has a vet elsewhere, I do not have a problem with their doctors and staff taking care of those needs. I even tried him out one night there. I was frantic and would call first thing and he was fine. He was extra perky when I got him. Everyone there is friendly and polite. My baby loves everyone there. I feel secure knowing that he is taken care of and is safe. Plus, he sleeps through the night! He is a happy boy. Read Less

I absolutely love Allied, the doctors and staff are extremely good at what they do. Not only have they provided excellent treatment for my animals they are also very loving and caring. I first went to Allied when my American Bulldog was diagnosed with Lymphoma, they could not have been more wonderful in assisting me in trying to save him from his disease. Even at the end when he could not be saved they were so thoughtful and considerate in every way. I have been taking my other dog to them since then, last year she was diagnosed with Diabetes and lost her eye sight, they have helped me with her insulin injections, day care, boarding...you name it they are always there for me and for her. From the girls at the front desk to the doctors I can't say enough good things about them. The best part is my dog loves going! I personally wouldn't go anywhere else. Read Less

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would! Do NOT take your animal here if you care about it's life! A day goes by and it's sat, the cat is throwing up every single bit of food after eating it. No one is open but Allied so I call them, explain the situation and ask if they can give her an anti vomiting shot to at least help us make her comfortable. They refuse!! Told me since we went and saw another vet, they won't help us.

My beagle Lois goes here for all her care and boarding needs. She is well taken care of by the staff who are friendly, professional, and caring about the animals they work with. My parents took our family dog here as well, so the office has been around for over a decade and has built a good reputation in the community. Whenever Lois is there I feel like she is getting the care she needs and I'd recommend this vet to any pet parent in the area.Read Less

Read Less
