After many years of  being a customer of this  Veterinary practice,  I have decided no more.  There have been changes in management , staff, vets, processes, and I have lost confidence and trust after two most recent visits. I have already transferred care of my senior dog and 1 year old puppy to another veterinary practice. Yes they can get your pet in very quickly to be seen, that was not always the case a year or two back. If you desire examples of my recent experiences, get in touch with me and I am happy to tell you. I'll just give a little example....my 21 year old cat; demented, incontinent, lost hearing...sadly made the decision to euthanize, showed up for the appointment and they did not know why we were there. I would like to thank Dr. Lenher and her staff for helping me with my 100% uncooperative Husky. I had an end of the day appointment and ended up asking for more work on him than originally intended. Dr. Hunter and his staff are caring, friendly, and always helpful. Dr. Hunter has been my Vet for well over 10 years and I would not go to any other practice. He has been with me through happy times and sad times with my dogs and has always shown respect and consideration for me and my dogs. My 2 year old Boxer named Buddy, has received great care at Countryside Vet Clinic. Last week Buddy was deathly ill and as I prepared myself to mercifully put him down, Dr. Johnson examined Buddy and said it wasn't Buddy's time to go. Her surgical skills and comforting and encouraging bedside manner (to me!) went above and beyond what I had experienced before at other Vet Clinics close by in this community. I've had 6 dogs of my own and 2 fosters since 1994, so I've had plenty of experience with other vets. Countryside gets 5 stars in my book.Read Less

Countryside Vet is the "Best" in Richmond, VA. I recently had to put my cat to sleep after 22 years, but my cat "Sweets" was cared for by Countryside Vet for 22 years. Upon searching for a vet back 22 years ago, I saw a program on the cable network where Dr. James Hunter was being interviewed about opening Countryside Vet in the West End of Henrico County. I was so impressed in the knowledge and expertise he knew and his devotion and love he displayed for wanting to care for families' pets. I have been going to Countryside Vet now for several years.  I have Dr. O'Sullivan as my Veterinarian for my dog Monte.  He is extremely through, and what I like about him is.... many of the older Vets which I have used in the past, are of "Old" school.  Lots of things have change in the CARE of your dog/Cat, and I feel many of the older Vets have not kept up with the changes... A prime example is in the food.  Many older Vets offer food which has Corn and Chicken By Products in it...   Even if you dog/cat has a problem they put them on a food which has Corn and Chicken By Products.  My dog will be 11 next month, and Dr. O'Sullivan said he will probably out live me or at least he will see another 10 years.  Like he said, it all comes down to Healthy Good Food.   I have been feeding my dog an ALL Natural food for over 6 years now which has NO Corn/Wheat/Soy in it along with NO By Products of any kind.  Even the Dr. said he was using the same food.  I feel Dr. O'Sullivan takes the extra care in your dog as he does to mine each year I go in for his  yearly shots.  Great clinic and wonderful people who work there.  I feel when I leave, I have been given honest results and good advice.   If you have a dog or cat... give them a call.  I feel assured you will agree with me when you leave...  :-) Read Less

Very honest and open. Though they were unable to save our sick cat, the doctor was very honest about the situation and did not try to sugar-coat it for me. I appreciated this since it helped me understand the situation most clearly. Prior to this incident, this clinic was great for doing laser surgery for front claw removal on both of my cats.
