Awesome experience with this vet. Had another vet tell me nothing was wrong with my dog, so I brought her in for a second opinion. This vet immediately diagnosed the issue, talked with me about options, and really made me comfortable and felt like he truly cared about my and my pup. Cannot recommend highly enough. I recently took my cat here, and I probably had the best experience at this vet compared to any other one before. They were friend and the vet actually sat down and talked with me while explaining everything instead of just telling me what I need to do and dropping it. I have found my new Vet!  I took my cat there for an emergency visit since the vet I normally go to was all booked up.  The staff was very friendly and supportive.  The Vet Dr. Lee explained the Xrays to me in great detail even comparing my cats Xrays to a healthy cats.   She went over all our options showing great compassion for what we were going through.  We had to put my cat to sleep and we were an emotional wreck since we just dealt with the death of our 21 year old son just 3 months earlier.  They never rushed us even though it was closing time.  Dr. Lee even gave me a comforting hug when we were done.  We weren't completely satisfied with our old vet so we will be taking our other animals to this office from now on.  The staff is great.  The office is clean and modern.  We did have to wait about 15 minutes in the exam room but that is fine because good service takes time and there were other patients there being treated.  I wouldn't want the Vet rushing with me so I understand the wait so other pets can get quality care as well.  They really went the extra mile to make our difficult time more manageable. 10 out of 10 every time me and my mother love our cat like he is family and had been having skin problems we had taken him to many vets in the past but no one ever solved the problem we brought him here and the staff was very friendly and now my cat has little to no skin problem. I boarded my dog there and was charged for medication I had already given her. When I called to ask why I didn't receive a call prior to administering the medication I was told " you signed the authorization." I will take my dog elsewhere next time! Read Less

Dr. Laird Williams is wonderful. He will spend as much time as you need to help you understand your pet, their condition. He is cost sensitive and will always be totally up front with the various options available - no matter the situation. He really connects with our two - both rough collies. Sits down in the floor with them, cares for them, and I can't recommend any other vet for such good care. Dr. Williams is the best vet I've ever been to. I have a Chihuahua who gets quite scared and aggressive around strangers - Dr. Williams was so patient and kind with her, and he even got her to lay on her back in his arms and calm down. When I've taken her to other vets in the past, they've had more of a hands-off approach after seeing how aggressive she can be - Dr. Williams was the complete opposite. So understanding and kind. He also listened to all of my questions and explained everything to the full extent. He never made me feel rushed or like he was just dismissing my concerns. He also didn't recommend a bunch of unnecessary services - only what was the most important for my dog's health. All of the vet techs were very kind as well. I drive a long distance to have my cats examined by Dr. Williams. He is very professional, answers all my questions, gives helpful advice, and charges reasonable prices.  His employees are attentive and caring.  The large waiting room is decorated in contemporary style and is relaxing and welcoming.  It is obvious that Dr. Williams is highly dedicated to helping our precious pets stay happy and healthy! So glad I picked Huguenot Animal Hospital to vaccinate my little schnauzer. Everyone from the woman at the front desk to the vet himself were very professional, friendly and attentive.The office itself looks very nice and the exam room was spacious, clean and organized. I was offered water or coffee twice while I was there and treats were offered to my dog. I was not offered any extra services, unlike the previous vet who would always try to push products and services which were not so necessary. That is always a plus. Highly recommend. Read Less

We love Dr. Williams and his staff, they are all so very caring and loving. They take very good care of our Rosco and Chloe! Dr. Williams also helped bring my mothers cat out of a diabetic coma when her own vet (an hour away) referred her to the emergency clinic. Just had our first  appointment here yesterday.  I just moved to this side of town so we needed to get a new vet closer to us.  So glad I called these guys.  I was able to get an appointment the same day I called.  They even gave me an appointment at the end of the day so that I could make it there after work.  The nurses were great and the waiting room was so nice.  Very clean and comfortable.  I came in because my dog often gets limpy and ouchy (corgi with short little legs!).  At past vets I've gone through all the scary "oh, he'll need surgery, medications every day, etc."  Dr. Williams let me know plenty of options (with surgery being wayyy down the line) and provided me with price quotes with no pressure to go with any certain option.  The comment about the exam room is a little off.  The exam room we were in had plenty of room.  I feel like exam rooms should be on the smaller size so that there is less room for the critters to run off and hide?  I definitely will recommend HAH to any pet owners! The vet did a fine job with my dog, and the lobby is clean and modern. However...The exam room was much too small. There was one chair for me and standing room only for the vet and his assistant. Which made talking to the vet awkward because he was practically standing over me. The practice is newer, I guess, and the vet spent probably 5-10 minutes telling me why online pet pharmacies are evil and why I should only buy heartworm pills from him. It was the middle of the day and this was my first visit for an acute problem with my dog. I didn't have time to listen to his spiel. Then, when it came time for him to recommend a temporary diet for my dog, he only offered pre-made products. He never mentioned a homemade diet that I could have used (which my previous vet did for similar situations -- an upset tummy -- in the past).I would return if I had an emergency, but I plan to look around at other places first. We absolutely loved the facility for our English bulldog. We called for a same day appointment and HAH was very accommodating. As soon as you walk in, you can tell a lot of thought was put into the design. It smelled and looked great!! Dr. Williams gave us and our pet a lot of attention. He made us feel very comfortable for our first visit and was very thorough. Although it could be on the expensive side but after seeing the caring attention and closeness to our home, it's worth the extra bucks. We would definitely recommend if you are near the area. Having spent a fortune early in my career on direct-mail marketing, I am sympathetic to those endeavoring to build a business in today's cut throat market. Dr Laird Williams, the Vet here at HAH, elected to send out a coupon for a free initial visit and checkup. I decided to check him out and establish a connection here in RVA for when Polly and I are in town. It was a wise choice. The facilities clearly have had a considerable investment in them as they are modern, spacious, well-equipped and inviting. The staff could not have been friendlier, although Polly is the ultimate room-warmer, spreading sunshine wherever she goes. His exam was thorough, gentle and educational, and he spotted a potential problem with a small growth on her side we will need to watch for getting larger. Good to know. This is a man who clearly loves what he does and deserves some exposure to the Furkid Parents who read Yelp. Read Less
