Highly recommend this place. They saw our dog right away who was in bad shape & took care of the problem. They came to me a treatment plan that I just couldn't afford & the worked around my budget & didn't make me feel like a bad owner for not spending a ton of money. Other vets have in the past. We had to unexpectedly take our sweet Chumlee in to be seen, while our dog had never been seen there, they took him in and helped us as much as they could! They called to check on our pup the very next morning and while at this point there wasn't much else they could do for our pup. They were very empathetic and helped ease our minds. Unfortunate for my dog i made the crucial mistake of making this vet the primary vet for him. I have remained loyal to this facility for over 6 years, I have spent over $10,000 there & They knew me & my dog very well. We always took him there for check-ups, emergency visits, medicine, vaccines & etc. But when we really needed them they were more concerned about funds & less concerned about my dog's well-being and as a result my dog passed away moments after his visit. Instead of properly diagnosing & treating him they let him sit there, suffer & ultimately die as they milked me for as much money as they possibly could. I also do not feel they ever ran that i was billed for they absolutely will not let you watch them administer vaccines, blood draws or any type of testing, the whole procedure is shady to say the least which is why i have come to that conclusion. I can't speak for the other vet (there are multiple) but Dr. Simon & the vet techs are there for one thing & that is money the lives of your pets is at the absolute bottom of their priority list & that is shameful. I adopted a special needs kitten when is was in graduate school years ago. A veterinary neurologist told me he would only live a year before a latent infection occurred and I would lose him. Well, 10 years later he was still running around my house causing all kids of mischief. I attribute the years I got to spend loving my sweet Thadius to the care he received from Dr. Hodges and the staff at Harris Animal Hospital. For the first 2-3 years of his life she saw him at least every other week to help me care for his legs which were left paralyzed after an accident he had when he was 4 weeks old. He was a well known character at the hospital and a favorite among the staff even though he was not the easiest patient to handle. She taught me how to take care of each of his needs and spent her own personal time researching options we could try for treatment. My family has taken our pets to Harris for most of my life and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great veterinary practice. And I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Hodges. It is difficult to find the words to fully describe how incredibly thankful I am to Harris Animal Hospital and Dr. Lucinda Hodges for saving the life of my dear Peke Stella. Stella was rescued from a deplorable puppy mill in N.C., where she and about 50 other dogs had spent their entire lives in tiny crates stacked upon each other. They sat in their own urine, feces, rotting food and dirty water. Stella and her puppy were taken to a shelter, where the puppy was adopted but Stella stood to be gassed. Meanwhile, her malnourishment had led to such severe dental disease that her jaw was fractured in two places, and she was living with terrible pain. Dr. Hodges performed an extensive jaw restoration, caring for Stella personally for months as she recovered with her wired jaw. Stella had never seen flowers before and was terriifed of everything -- even walking on grass -- when Dr. Hodges took her in. That was in the spring of 2013. Four years later, Stella is full of life! She LOVES to eat and play; her tail is constantly wagging, and she adores her "brother," Sam, a Shih Tzu rescue. She also can be found napping curled up with her two feline brothers. She rules the household, and every day I silently thank Dr. Hodges and Harris Animal Hospital for giving life to this girl. Thank you! Read Less

Bas customer service. Rude employees. Left my dog there for a week for vacation. Didn't feel comfortable leaving her there. Wouldn't let me back in the room to watch give the regular shots. So friendly, so nice. Always watched out for my baby since she was born. When I had to put my Yorkie down they were nice as could be, going out of their way to do things they didn't need to. They did what they could to ease her passing and understood my pain with having to make that decision and say goodbye to my best friend of 15 years. Just a week later I got a card in the mail, personally signed by each member of the staff offering their condolences. I don't know that I will ever be able to get another pet.. but if I did.. Harris Animal Hospital is where I would take them. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. But I guess 5 stars and 2 hearts will have to do. Read Less

I started taking my pets there in 1974 when Dr Harris was there and I have never regretted it. He was wonderful with all of my pets and Dr Hodges, Dr Simon, and the staff are so welcoming and caring. I moved across town and would still never go anywhere else. I now have 2 15-yr old cats, TJ and his brother, Randy. TJ has had many health problems-the most recent, an intestinal blockage caused by a toy mouse he swallowed. When I got him there he was in really bad shape with surgery being his only chance. I could have taken him to Tech but I knew he would be in better hands with Dr Hodges as they knew him so well. His chance of survival was slim Needless to say. Dr Hodges pulled him through- our miracle cat. I am very grateful for all they have done for him as well as Randy. They truly care for them as their own. Read Less

This group is Amazing!! Always giving the best care and very friendly. Anytime one of my dogs has to stay the night for observation or for other things, I don't worry. And when I first started, I assumed that I would continue to bring my cat to the animal hospital near my Bedford home, both for convenience and because I'd had nothing but good experiences with them. But all it took was a short time among the staff of Harris Animal Hospital to realize there is nowhere else I would rather bring my baby. These people go above and beyond. They race to meet new pets and beloved regulars alike; they shower every animal with genuine care and affection; they take time to calm nervous and frightened pets, making the whole experience more positive for everyone. Put simply, the people at Harris are an inspiration. Doctors Hodges and Simon are incredibly capable and compassionate vets whose love for animals shines through in all that they do. They are always happy to answer my questions, and provide clear, thorough explanations of every recommendation they make. And I trust them, because they never suggest a product, whether food, supplement or medication, that they wouldn't use in caring for their own pets, and will always communicate frankly about potential risks or side effects. Olga is a shy girl, and often scared of strangers, but everyone at Harris was so kind and gentle with her that she came home acting as if nothing had happened! I got the most shocking thing in the mail it made he cry because it was so amazing. A few days ago we had to put down an amazing friend and part of our family Tigress. She got really sick and had kitty aids. It was the hardest decision we had to make. Anyway we've been very sad and today I received what I thought to be an appointment letter from the vet for Billy. I have been using Harris Animal Hospital for several years for all of my personal and foster dogs. Both Dr Hodges and Dr Simon are professional and caring. If I have an emergency they always find a way to work me into their schedule. When I have very ill pets, who have to stay in their care, I always know they are getting the best care. This vet office has been super professional and awesome every time they have seen one of my animals. I have not been happy with some vets before but the vets here only recommend what they need to diagnose any problems, vaccines and preventative to keep my animals healthy, and treatment that is needed. They are extremely compassionate and listen to my concerns and answer my questions in a way i can understand. They have always worked with me on my budget, which can be very tight at times. I've been a "regular" with Dr. Hodges and Harris Animal Hospital for 20 years now. My latest encounter was with my 13 yr old cat, Merlin. My son's dog is staying with me while he is finishing up is Marine Occupational Schooling at Camp Lejeune. Well, I didn't realize that Merlin had gotten out of my bedroom while I was taking the dog outside. When the dog came in, he made a beeline for Merlin and my thoughts turned to the worst. I called Dr Hodges and Beth answered the phone and told me to get Merlin there quickly (and safely) as possible. Upon arriving, they rushed Merlin straight back and started working on him. Merlin was thankfully not hurt as terribly has I thought. Dr. Hodges and Dr. Simon had the trauma area already set up for me as soon as they heard there was a cat coming in. Honestly, I cannot recommend a more competent group of individuals. The entire staff there isn't just a "vet", they are family to me and to my animals. I have been using Harris Animal Hospital to vet our rescue dogs for several years now. Through two different rescues, we have brought over two hundred dogs to them and have always had an excellent experience. Not only are they professional and accurate and cost effective, but they have always gone above and beyond for our dogs, sometimes taking them in on extremely short notice. I feel very confident that in leaving our dogs at Harris, we have left them with people who will treat them with all the kindness and love that they do their own pets. We have not once, with all those dogs, had an issue surgically or with any of their treatment plans. my experience with harris animal hospital was nothing less than a total nightmare,  about 18 months ago our small dog was badly injured and bleeding,  we rushed the animal to the nearest veterinarian hospital which unfortunately was harris on peters creek road. upon entering the building these people looked at the dog and then started asking if we had the money to treat the animal,  we explained that we rushed here in a major hurry and that we would gather the funds while they were tending to this suffering dog. well unbelievably they refused treatment until their money could be verified, and while we were scrambling around trying to put together these funds the poor helpless dog died while the vets stood around and did nothing. and if that experience wasn't traumatic enough we were told that our dead dog would not be released to us unless we paid them their damn bill. of course these people will deny all of this but we have multiple witnesses who can verify these events as complete fact. let me end by saying that this hospitals main concern was to put money in their pockets first and save our dogs life second, these acts are completely inexcusable and should be considered criminal. i can only hope that no other pet owner has to suffer through the pain and grief we endured because of these greedy money grubbing so called emergency veterinarians.
