The staff is caring, courteous and dedicated to providing the best care they can for your animals. Not the cheapest in the area for some services, but for general vetenary, I don't know of anyone better. The staff, particular Dr Brummer, have gone above and beyond on numerous occasions. Read Less

I have been coming here for the past 3 years with my 13 year old cat and recently my 7 month old puppy. Dr Hart and Dr Blazak are extremely attentive and caring. They and the staff follow through in their commits when returning my calls/questions/follow ups on procedures. They inform of the pros and cons, never beat around the bush, and try to do things as cost friendly as possible for me. I have never had a bad experience. I had made the mistake of taking my puppy to Angels of Assisi and called my vet extremely upset with a million questions. Due to the severity Dr Hart came right to the phone. Have been taking all our animals to Roanoke Animal Hospital for over 25 years. I always recognized the exceptional care they gave, but never understood just how caring they are until we recently had to put down our 14 year-old poodle due to multiple health issues. What amazing kindness and caring we were shown! These people will truly love your animals and treat them like their own. I cannot say enough about the care and compassion we recently received from mark finkler during the catastrophic illness we faced with our beloved dog bubba. Mark took the time out of his busy day to examine our dog and give us the information we could not get from another vet. Although the news was devastating - at least we had the truth and knew what we could expect in the near future. Sadly our dog's health declined so rapidly in the following day's that we were forced to have mr finkler humanely end his suffering. Thank you mark and the staff at roanoke animal hospital, the care and professionalism was second to none and this helped us greatly in dealing with the terrible loss of our much loved dog. Mark Finkler has been an amazing and compassionate doctor to our yellow lab, Angel. At the end of her long life she was treated as a long time friend by the whole staff. I have taken my fur babies to Dr. Finkler since 1992! Ferrets, dogs, cats.....he has cared for them all! He is an amazing vet! Now my dog also sees Dr. Quatmann, who is marvelous! (My dog, Sally, is high maintenance so she now has a pair of vets!) The entire staff is great! The front office staff goes out of their way to help! The technicians and vets are all terrific! Roanoke Animal Hospital has taken care of all of my dogs. The vets I have gone to have all been good. I recommend them . My only issue at present is that I cannot buy heart worm medication through them without having a complete examination of my dog. My dog is healthy, is up to date on all of her shots but it has been over a year since she was last seen. Their policy is that they cannot dispense medication if they haven't seen an animal in over a year. They would not even do a stool sample (my dog has been on heart worm, I just needed to buy more, which I will do online). I do not believe that I need to incur the expense of an exam to update my supply of heart worm. While I do not support this policy I would still recommend their service.Read Less

We love Dr. Finkler!  We has a great bedside manner for both my dog and me.  He always calls me personally with test results, and he does a great job coordinating with the other veterinary specialists we've had to see. One of the vets here gave us our kitty when he was a kitten - she was our neighbor at the time. So we're naturally very loyal to Dr. Hickman, and we've had nothing but good experiences with the whole practice.We've brought our cat here twice, both times for injuries sustained while fighting outside that later turned into abscesses. Both times, we were able to get an appointment for our kitty for the same day. Both times, the cost for cleaning the wound and antibiotics were quite reasonable, and the care given allowed him to recover quickly. Both times, we've had nothing but pleasant interactions with the professional and cheerful staff (whom our dear cat promptly charmed with his good behavior).Even when we have to cancel, the nurses are professional, friendly and helpful. I love the doctors. The front desk seems to be all over the place, Keystone Cops come to mind. There appears to be very limited communication between the clerks at the desk and most of them are rude and one is even militant and rude. I really wish customer service was one of their priorities and I wish they would be up to date with technology. A website and email would be very helpful. An email mailing keeping clients updated on changes in the clinic, particularly staff changes. Nothing like an unpleasant surprise when you are trying to make appts. only to find out you can no longer see your vet! Read Less

As someone  who spoils my dogs, I absolutely love Dr. Finkler.  All the vets at Roanoke Animal Hospital are great, but Dr. Finkler is by far my favorite.  One of my dogs suffered a serious spine injury a few years ago and I credit Dr. Finkler's quick and correct assessment with saving the dog's life (she's totally healthy today).  You can't go wrong! I have been taking my pets here for many years. Appointments are on time. You dont have to wait long. I have taken my dog and cat in at the same time. They are willing to accomodate me however I want to come in. They have a side entrance for animals that dont get along well in the reception area. Check out is quick as well. My cat had surgery. They called me just after the procedure to update me on her status. They also spoke with me later that night to let me know she was doing ok and would be avail for pick up in the morning at my convienence. Their staff have also been there for many years. They get to know you and are so friendly and helpful. I have recommended this vet office to many others and they all report a positive experience as well. Read Less
