I am new to the area and called Springfield Animal Hospital during an emergency--my dog had fractured her foot! The staff was very warm and welcoming, as they got me in during the next available time slot. The doctor we had was awesome, he explained in detail her fracture and provided me with multiple views to further my understanding. I cannot say enough good things about this animal hospital.  Dr. Caldwell and Dr. Overton , techs and front desk staff are the most compassionate people towards pets and their owners, that I have ever met.  I have been taking our pets there for over 25 years. The Drs offer inexpensive remedies first prior to having to spend hard earned $$ on tests and medicines. They will follow up with a phone call to check up on the pet.  I now have my daughter's dog and continued with her usual vet for the first year, but went to Springfield Animal Hospital yesterday and felt much more at ease.  Thank you to ALL staff for their caring attitude. Upon moving to the area a few years ago we took our miniature dachshund to a place very near to us and while ok they did not provide the level of service we were used to. We found Springfield Animal Hospital and went there for our next appointment. It was a world of difference and we have been going there ever since. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We need to take our little guy in once a month for anal gland expression and they always have a convenient appointment to fit our schedule. Their hours are great. We've been very pleased with the level of care. They don't try to sell you on unnecessary services. We feel extremely comfortable having them care for our lil guy and wouldn't go anywhere else. A friend recommended Springfield Animal Hospital. I would say don't judge a book by its cover....the building on the outside might look a little dated, but once you walk through the door, your pet will be well taken care of by the staff. I have a reactive dog and they are always great about getting us in & out without any other pet confrontations. We have been going to them for a year and each time has gone well. I visited Springfield Animal Hospital (SAH) with my senior cat for the first time in March 2017 after moving away from my prior veterinarian. The human and animal experience was positive. The front desk staff, vet techs and veterinarian were all genuinely friendly, made eye contact and didn't upsell services I didn't need. Additionally there was no cat mommy shaming for having an indoor/outdoor cat.My second visit was in July 2017 when my senior cat started losing weight. The second experience was again positive. I really appreciated the veterinarian taking the least invasive approach before resorting to more invasive, more expensive services. I've been taking my beloved feline to Springfield Animal Hospital for 8 years, and while the services offered are not inexpensive (what is in NoVA?), the friendly staff and quality of care provided is worth the price. People taking their pets here will appreciate that the office does suggest useful services such as blood tests to get a more comprehensive view of an elder pet's health, but I've never had the feeling they were trying to push extra services just to increase the bill - recommendations are just that and are not accompanied by any so-called 'hard sell'. I've always felt the vets do a thorough job during their checkups, and Dr. Caldwell is always happy to answer whatever questions I may have. Highly recommended. Read Less

I do wish that Dr. Philips was still their, but the other doctors are excellent, friendly, and very helpful with all of the pets we have had over the years. I will never take my pets anywhere else! My boyfriend and I recently took our lab mix to this practice and we are extremely please with the level of care we received. We had just switched from the vet he had been seeing since he was 6 weeks old. The prices are extremely reasonable, the facility was clean, and you can tell the staff genuinely loves animals.Our pup, Beau, saw Dr. Caldwell and we were extremely pleased. She was great at answering any questions, explained the procedures in detail, and offered MULTIPLE resolutions at different price levels without jumping to what would break the bank. She even gave us a follow up call a few days later to see how Beau was doing with the new regiment and gave us more info regarding further allergy testing we had discussed at his appointment. She never once seemed pushy and actually listened to what we had to say and what our concerns were. This practice does offer care credit which is phenomenal! Just be warned if you are still in your promotional period, if it's under a certain amount your care credit card will not work.We will continue to take our pup here as long as we live in Springfield! Shout out to Springfield Animal Hospital!! I'm so glad I went with my gut and took Bella there for a second opinion. The other clinic wanted me to take her to an Internal Medicine doctor and that an x-ray wouldn't reveal anything. Dr. Overman did a thorough exam and felt a lump below her stomach, he took an x-ray, did an ultrasound and found a mass in her small intestine. Off she went to surgery, performed by Dr. Caldwell, and they found a seed about 4 inches in length. She is home and resting comfortably! Thank you so much!! Read Less

Wonderful, caring vets and reasonable prices. I took my kitty to see Dr. Caldwell when he started peeing outside of the box. She spent 45min with us during our visit and discussed his behavior and overall health. She asked me a lot of questions so not only gave advice but listened. She called a couple of days following the visit to check on how things were going and then again a week later. Dr. Caldwell really cares about the well being of her patients and as the pet owner she didn't want to leave me hanging with this frustrating problem. We brought our young bulldog, Linda, to Springfield Animal Hospital for cherry eye surgery (common problem with this breed) and to get spayed. 1. Cherry eye surgery was supposedly performed on the wrong eye. My fiance and I were very patient with this mistake (accidents happen), and even though this unnecessary surgery was at the expense of our pet's comfort, we brought her back again so Dr. Hong could perform surgery on the correct eye. 2. After the CORRECT surgery was performed, we noticed how different the healing process looked this second time around. The first time (when the wrong eye was operated on), there was zero evidence that a surgery even occurred. This time, we visibly saw Linda's healing process, and it made us wonder... was there even surgery performed the first time around? 3. Months went by and Linda's eye refused to heal. We brought her back time and time again, hearing different stories: "Her eye is infected, here, buy this medication. She's having an allergic reaction to the stitches, here, buy this medication. Her eye might stay like this for up to 9 months, here, buy this medication." When we asked the male vet if we could get some reading material about the stitches Linda is allergic to, he couldn't even give us the NAME of the product. 4. My fiance and I finally make a trip up to MI (where we're from originally), and take her to a trusted family vet. She told us the following: a.) NO surgery was performed on the "wrong" eye. b.) Linda wasn't having an allergic reaction to stitches. What we were seeing was scar tissue forming because the surgery was performed amateurly. Overall, we could not be more disappointed and disheartened by this entire experience. During our final visit, we were essentially ushered out with the words, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do for you." We spent a thousand dollars for our dog to look exactly the same: with a skin growth protruding from her eye. I will never bring a pet here again and will strongly advise anyone I know to frequent this clinic.Read Less

I have been taking my cats to Springfield Animal Hospital for the past 5 years and have always been happy with their services. I recently adopted a dog and am very happy with their initial interaction with him as well.  The staff is friendly, and they seem excited to see your animals, which puts the animal at ease. I've gone here twice now and have spent $500+ each visit. I found that the vets do seem to really care about your pet, which is the reason for the 2nd star, and not a 1-star rating. However, on my dog's last visit the vet recommended multiple tests to be run because she thought she heard a heart murmur. Ok, fine, I agree to run the tests and they all come back NORMAL. Not cheap, but I'm relieved that my dog is fine.The hospital then quotes me $800+ for dental work (some extractions and a 'special' anesthesia since my dog 'may have a heart mumur'....even though the tests came back normal). I was really annoyed that they were still pushing the heart condition, when all tests came back normal. Also, I ended up taking my dog to my family's vet and the dental work was only $125...a HUGE difference from the $800+..sadly, I won't be going back. Read Less

I've been in the area for 2 years, and have never found a place that matched the quality of service, and level of care of our vet back in Texas. I've been to a couple of other vets in the area, but we were never really satisfied with the care our dog received. And then when we did like the doctors, the prices were just WAY too high. So when I found this place, I was shocked at how wonderful I found it. The moment we walked in, the two women at the front desk were attentive, and very pleasant to talk with. We went right back to a room, and my wait time was under 30 minutes (the last one, even with an appointment, made us wait an hour!). Every person who came into the room greeted my dog, patted him on the head, and talked to him like he was their own, and our vet, Doctor Nonna, was wonderful. She walked me through everything, and was so great with my dog, you could really tell she loved animals. She not only explained everything to me clearly, she also made sure I wasn't going to have to pay for any unnecessary meds, treatments, or shots. Overall, my whole experience was amazing. They also give military discounts for active duty, which was very helpful! I highly recommend going to this office over others. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vet, with GREAT service, this is the place to go! Read Less
