This is the very best clinic! The staff is so friendly and the Dr is very caring and detailed. She has always taken the time to listen to concerns and I have never felt rushed out. Called two hours before closing with a very sick dog and was already a patient for over a year and they would not take my dog . They said it was too close to closing and they were full and it was a little before ten and they close at noon. Went to a another vet who took us even though we were a new patient after explaining how sick our dog was and what was going on. Not going back to this clinic again. The new Veterinarian was very  kind and spent two hours with our dog and made arrangements in Richmond for dog to have surgery. We lucky we found him . Read Less

This place is fantastic in every respect. The staff is always friendly and take the time to get to know your pet and make them comfortable before the doctor even comes in the room. Dr. Averitt is wonderful and never pushy. Always gives you all the options, what she thinks is best, and lets you make your own decision. She never pushes anything down your throat and never does anything un-necessary. If she tells you something has to be done its because it does, not because she wants to run up the tab. Dr. Averitte performed a surgery on my aunts puppy and convinced my aunt it was no problem and an easy quick and painless procedure. Well, they killed the puppy by giving it too much anesthesia. Instead of telling my aunt in person about what happen they did it over the phone. No kind of reimbursement was provided, but out of the goodness in their hearts they didn't charge my aunt for the surgery. Read Less

Having lived in Williamsburg for 12 years, I've had pets over time that have seen other vets and have had anything from "ok" to pretty lousy experiences. We ended up at Dr. Averitt's as a fluke last year, but it was the best "mistake" to ever happen to our puppies. This morning was no exception. She saw my 9-month-old beloved lab puppy on an emergency basis. Her staff was so caring, considerate and calming. Saying they genuinely care about your pet is a huge understatement. Our puppy is on the mend, and we are just so incredibly grateful for the quality of service and the level of attention we receive whether we're there for routine care or a crisis. I've been bringing my dog, Cleo, to Dr. Averitt for a few months now, since she desperately needed a dental. At that time it was also found that she had a kidney infection, which was treated. Cleo has been giving us a hard time for a while with eating, and this week just stopped. We made an appointment to have her checked out and Dr. Averitt ran various tests, finding that she had a bad kidney infection; we're just waiting right now to find out what is causing it, so that it can be properly treated. In any case, while I was there waiting for results Brian came into the room. I thought he was looking for some information, but he just knelt down and began petting Cleo. I didn't know what to say; I was so nervous but that small gesture actually helped me. The clinic was busy so it wasn't as if he just had nothing to do; he purposely went out of his way to be kind to her. All of the people at the Clinic are so pleasant and caring, but that little gesture really put things over the top.Read Less

She was the knowledgeable, compassionate physician who made it possible for Princess to live 15 years, and helped me say good-bye. When Jim and I were camping in Williamsburg, our beautiful Jazz got sick. Not knowing the area, we picked Toano Animal Clinic from a brochure we had picked up. Thank Goodness, they were still open as it was closing time. They greeted us with a smile as if time didnot matter. Jazz was treat with the best of care. Dr. Averitt and the staff are so loving and wonderful. We moved out of state recently and it will be hard to take our 3 dogs else where after many years of special treatment given to us here. We lived on the east side of Williamsburg which was nearly a 30 minute drive (meanwhile, passing several other vets) but it was well worth the trip. I highly recommend them!! Read Less
