We've been bringing our animals here for years. The veterinarians are always interested in their health and comfort and are all good at communicating with owners. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that I wouldn't board my large dogs here again because I don't think the boarding facility is well equipped for big dogs. We left our two dogs there for a weekend and they were distressed when we picked them up. Since then we've paid more and gone to a larger kennel located in Botetourt county. Botetourt Veterinary Clinic is primarily a medical center for animals. They're excellent for that purpose. Read Less

After happily charging me a hefty fee for a ‘emergency visit’, which my kitty wasn’t properly examined and suffered because of, I was told that her records would be transferred. Why? Because I insisted that they return my $ since they didn’t perform the service required. That’s okay because I love my kitty too much to ever take a chance with them again. Thank God someone referred me to Veterinarians to Cats in Roanoke! The doctor immediately diagnosed the problem and within a couple of hours my girl was as good as new! Dr. Kristen Miller disregarded a previous diagnosis of Giardia on one of my puppies. The puppy was on metronidazole but my client was advised by Dr. Miller that the puppy did not need metronidazole and metronidazole was the wrong medication.The puppy was prescribed Albon for a diagnosis of Coccidia.No dispute about the Coccidia. However, any vet knows that Giardia doesn't show up on a fecal all the time even if positive.Dr. Miller's neglect and disregard of prior diagnosis of Giardia caused the puppy to die because he did not receive his medications. I just recently became a new owner of a English setter. I had never been an owner of my own dog before and took her to Botetourt Vet. Hospital, and the staff and doctors were all so nice helping me set up all the appointments and helping me figure out everything an owner needs to do. This Vet. I LOVE Botetourt Veterinary Hospital. The veterinarians and staff are friendly and truly care about your pet's well-being. Our doctor takes the time to make sure our dog is calm and happy before examining him. She asks about his emotional well-being and training too. I took my dog in because he has recurring rash and the vet usually prescribes a steroid and antiobiotic.I went in today where I met a new vet who seemed rushed and uninterested in properly assessing the situation.He tried to sell me some flea and tick treatment and send me on my way.After some pursuading he reluctantly prescribed me the needed meds which he would have seen had he properly read the chart.I then asked him if he would cut my dogs nails.He grabbed my dogs feet and began to hastily hack away, to the point where he cut too far and my dog began profusely bleeding.He then put a dab of liquid on the toe and left the room.He was gone for over 20 minutes when I had to yell for him to come back because the whole time my dogs toe was still gushing . So he then proceeded to wrap a rope around my dogs snout and neck as a muzzle to the point where my dog could barely breathe and was foaming at the mouth.I demanded he take the barbaric muzzle off and we left! I will never go back ther again. I have boarded my animals there in the past but feel like if this is how they treat animals in front of owners how must they be treated behind closed doors!? Read Less
